How far ahead should we book a big birthday weekend?
Most birthday groups enquire six to eight months ahead. For bank holidays, Christmas or New Year a year is safer. If the date is fixed because the birthday is, it is worth asking a few houses at once rather than waiting on one.
How many people do birthday groups usually bring?
Typically around 18 adults staying, though we see everything from eight to well over 40. Children are common at 60ths and later, so say how many and how old when you enquire.
Can we invite extra guests just for the party night?
Sometimes. Some owners are happy with day guests or a bigger Saturday dinner, some limit numbers or noise, and a few do not allow it at all. Ask before you book and get the answer in writing. Our party houses page has more on music and neighbours.
Can we have a marquee?
A few of the larger houses can take one, usually arranged with the owner and sometimes with their own suppliers. Ask early, as it affects the price and which dates work.
How much does a big birthday weekend cost?
Shared between a full house, most work out at roughly £40 to £110 per person per night. Weekends cost more than midweek, and bank holidays more again. The price on each house is the owner’s own, and you book with them directly with no commission.
Can we combine it with Christmas or New Year?
Yes, and it is a popular way to do a December birthday. See our Christmas and New Year houses, and book early as those dates go first.
Can we bring the dog?
Plenty of houses take dogs. Use the pet friendly filter to see them.
