Celebrated joint birthdays with my son, and a farewell weekend for my grandson returning to live in Japan. At The Oast. Kildare could not have been more accommodating, and the weekend was everything I had hoped it would be. It was the little things that were so special, all eating round the kitchen table, which is enormous, whilst the cooking was completed. Adjourning to the spacious and comfortable living room for games and drinks. Not to mention the family fun in the swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The Oast was perfect, and memories to last forever were made,

We were 11 guests and had a great time, the property is stunning as well as its surroundings.

Pekes is the most fantastic venue! Kildare and Thea are by far the kindest, most generous, flexible and helpful hosts I’ve had the pleasure of liasing with. The house and it’s history are fascinating, the grounds are gorgeous, the pool is glorious – even in October!

We stayed in the Oast House, it had everything you could possibly need, and the welcome pack provided by Kildare and Thea tells everything you need to know about the local area – so so helpful. They accommodated every one of our requests promptly and gracefully, and I would return to Pekes in a heartbeat. I’m sure there is no event that they could not master, and arrange to the highest standard. Couldn’t recommend Pekes more – thank you Kildare and Thea!

Wow, Wow, WOW! We booked our wedding with Pekes manor 7 years ago and we were then hit by covid. Kildare and his team have been truly amazing every step of the way. We finally made it in July 2025 and the wedding was everything I had dreamed of and more, the venue is stunning! Amy was excellent with her communication and answering any question I had; the grounds / cleaning staff made the venue look incredible and went out of their way to help us make the weekend as smooth as possible. I can’t speak anymore highly of such a wonderful venue!

We spent a family weekend in the Oast House. It was perfect for our needs. We had great weather for sitting out on the terrace and country walks. The use of heated indoor pool and jacuzzi was an added bonus. The booking system works really well. Would definitely book again.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our wedding at Pekes House, and it was everything we dreamed of and more. The venue is a charmed, oldy-worldy gem — full of character, beauty, and a magical atmosphere that made our day feel truly special.

We stayed at Pekes Manor for a surprise 60th birthday party. The manor, wing and oust house, grounds, pool, jacuzzi and Sauna were amazing. Such a unique place to celebrate. Everyone was delighted with the venue especially the birthday girl. We had relatives arriving from overseas and the transfer was very smooth. Wish we could do it all over again. The onsite staff were on hand to help with any of our queries. And Kildare was quick to respond from the moment we booked. Thank you Pekes.

The accommodation exudes with character, wish we had spent more time there. Definitely going back sometime soon.

We had our wedding at Peke’s this September and it was nothing short of remarkable. What an amazing place to tie the knot and spend the weekend celebrating with friends and family.

Amy, the venue manager was just incredible at dealing with all of the fine details and gave us a free rein over the space to create the wedding we really wanted. She was unbelievably patient and understanding of our needs, answered all of our many questions in the lead up and helped us across the whole weekend to make it happen so smoothly. It felt like nothing was a problem. The team she put in place to cater for our guests were all fantastic, super professional, kind and really fun to have around.

The place itself is amazing. We had many of our guests stay in the beautiful manor and surrounding buildings, all of which were clean and comfortable and ready to use well in advance so we could get everyone settled and ready for the party. The marquee they’ve recently purchased was perfect for our outdoor wedding and looks great too. We had our wedding breakfast here and the party which went on until the early hours.

I can’t speak highly enough about the place or the people running it. I don’t think there is another venue out there like it and for the price too, what you get is just amazing.

We just had the best weekend of our lives at Pekes Manor! We hosted 135 people for our wedding, with people flying in from all parts of the world to celebrate with us. The venue was literally perfect, everyone said how beautiful it was! But it goes way further than that – the fact that our guests could go in the sauna and jacuzzi, the pool, play tennis, join us for a BBQ and let their kids run around safely – it was literally the best spot for us. Also the management team were incredible, they helped us make sure everything ran smoothly, no task was an issue for them and even out of hours they were able to help us. Can’t thank them enough for the most perfect weekend, and we want to return in future years for anniversary plans! Also the fact it rained and it didn’t spoil our day – the venue team were absolute troopers! Thank you.

Thank you Pekes for an amazing wedding venue! We booked Pekes Houses for our son’s wedding because of the setting. It has such history and beauty. My son and daughter in-law wanted a ceremony under a gazebo and a reception under a marquee to accommodate guests, along with a picturesque setting. When we visited Pekes we were immediately impressed by the grounds and facilities. From the start, the owner was so helpful and accommodating. He understood what we wanted and ensured that it was what we got. We also had great support from the wedding planner with all the arrangements at the venue. What a fantastic wedding we had! I would recommend Pekes Houses to anyone looking to host a wedding, a birthday or even just a retreat. We had a wedding to remember!

Great place to stay, alot of fresh air and the house was spacious. Alot of things to do also from the tennis court to swimming and trampolining.

We had a fabulous time staying at Pekes Manor and Wing for my 30th birthday celebrations. The photos don’t do the place justice as it’s such a gorgeous house and grounds! There were about 20 of us in total, and we had a wonderful time using the pool and badminton, having a nice dinner together on the Saturday, and just all round enjoying our time together. A wonderful venue for a really magical weekend.

Wow! What a place. The entire site is beautiful and the grounds are wonderful to explore. Would book again tomorrow! 10/10 – AMAZING

We had a fantastic stay at the Main Manor House with a group of friends. The house has everything that you need and is in a great location. The house itself is comfortable and full of history. The grounds are very well maintained and there are lots of activities on site or nearby. We would really recommend visiting!

A gorgeous setting with amazing views in a picture perfect rural location. My brother rented “The Oast House” for his wedding venue and wasn’t disappointed. The staff were very friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help out and make space for the party. The whole family was so impressed with the entire place.

Stayed here for a hen party weekend, lots of fun! Bed wasn’t comfortable but others in our group said theirs was fine, so I suppose it was luck, hot tub was a lovely temperature but the pool didn’t look too clean, lots of the group went in though and said it was fine, the and coffee was provided (plain nescafe) so bring your own if you need a decent coffee.

Stayed at the Oast for my wife’s special birthday with friends and family. We had a great time. The layout is perfect for a large group and the round dining and sitting rooms give a greater sense of togetherness. The Oast has a lovely atmosphere too. The grounds are exceptional and we made full use of the indoor pool and jacuzzi. All we need need now is an excuse to come back soon!

We had a lovely stay at Pekes for a friends 50th birthday weekend. it is a truly charming house with great facilities, very comfy beds, piping hot water, open fires, a heated indoor pool and jacuzzi, amazing grounds and a kitchen with an aga! Kildare and Bernie helped to make our stay really enjoyable and easy, from booking, all the way through to departure, and were on hand to help if we needed it. We would definitely go back!

We rented the Manor House for a girlie birthday weekend and we were not disappointed. The house is charming and the beds surprisingly comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit tired but what do you expect in a 14th century house! the heating wasn’t working on our arrival but Bernie quickly sprang into action providing us with oil heaters and a roaring fire. The swimming pool and jacuzzi are a huge bonus and the grounds are stunning – we would definitely go back

We had a lovely stay. House was large and perfect for our group. Gardens were great to explore and the house had everything we needed.

what a fantastic house ,steeped in history and fantastic views in the quiet countryside swimming, pool sauna and games room. we had a great barbecue and the stars shone brightly without light pollution will definitely have a return visit and spook my friends via the hidden staircase.

Beautiful grounds and excellent amenities . Perfect for a big group trip. Old fashioned decor but it’s what expected for a very old estate. Feels like a Jane Austin set.

We come back every year for a get together of old school friends and kids and can’t fault it. The pool is incredible, as is the play area and the space is fantastic. Thank you for making our stays, as always, perfect.

We hired Pekes Manor, the Wing and Tudor View for our wedding weekend. Pekes were very helpful and accommodating when we had to change dates. The venue was clean, well provisioned, and all our guests and ourselves had a very comfortable stay. The building, the accommodation, the whole venue were beautiful. Absolutely wonderful old Tudor house. Large dining room, 2 kitchens, many lovely bedrooms. Nice staff. Great views. Nice grounds, with chickens (helped myself to a fresh egg one morning). Games room could do with some tarting up and updating, but the swimming pool and jacuzzi were fantastic! Very good pub / restaurant (The Gun) just 20 mins walk or 4 min drive.

Lovely venue for a family break. A main manor house and various other cottages can be rented. They have a pool covered with a conservatory and a jacuzzi, tennis courts and plenty of lawns. Worth a visit.

Beautiful old manor house with extensive grounds and views. Super comfortable beds and fully equipped kitchen. BBQ, outside seating, games room, swimming pool and hot tub. My wife booked this for her mums 70th Birthday and we were all impressed. We used Green Fig catering company to deliver Tapas and Afternoon tea- which was amazing. Also had lunch at The Gun Pub just up the road also delicious. Top class friendly service from all.

Smashing place to stay for parties and friends/family events. Beautiful scenery.

Due to COVID, we unfortunately weren’t able to stay. But wanted to review as the host was so kind and helpful with getting my money refunded. Was so impressed and happy with the customer service. I will look to book in future when things get back to some normality and restrictions are lifted.

Hired the West Wing of Pekes Manor for a surprise birthday. It was a bit musty when we arrived but it was the perfect amount of quirky and functionality. Nice sized garden and use of swimming pool and hot tub. It’s one part of around 6 or 7 other properties in varying sizes, in the middle of nowhere but there is a lovely little boozer about a mile down the road. I would definitely recommend for a stag or hen do or wedding or even just a party for a special occasion.

This is a lovely quiet country estate with a choice of different houses to hire for private family events. Tidy, well kept grounds with lots of wildlife made for a very relaxing stay.

Beautiful place!!!! Bad internet connectivity, lovely facilities, sauna out of order….

We hosted a family and friends party for 50 (renting the Oast, Wing and Garden Cottage as well as the Manor). We catered for ourselves in the most magnificent kitchen and dining room. We used the Wing as the dance floor and managed to arrange trestle tables in the dining room to seat 54. We easily accommodated other guests at the Travelodge and Boship hotel. We walked to the local pub, had a ceilidh on Saturday night and a table top puzzle room on the Sunday morning. We made use of as many of the facilities as time and weather would allow. We walked to the wonderful traditional 6 Bells pub at Chiddingly. The swimming pool was enjoyed by us all. It’s warm and wonderful as not chlorinated and the ambience with plants all around This was the most wonderful venue you could ever find and some of the properties are dog-friendly too. There are romantic authentically old bedrooms, furnished with charming antiques. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were, even the pull down double in the Wing! There’s a massive kitchen fireplace and a huge kitchen table for eating or buffet, an oak paneled dining room and hall. You have to see this place and live in it to experience its magic, None of the photos do it justice.

We just came back from a wonderful week at Pekes. We had my daughter’s wedding here and it was truly magical. Everyone was so kind and helpful. It is a week we will never forget and look forward to a return trip in the future.

We had the most perfect weekend in a truly magnificent house and phenomenal grounds. 20 family members from age 1 to 71 loved every moment of our weekend together. Enjoying meals around the phenomenal grand table. Playing in the swimming pool for hours which was so warm. Volleyball on the lawn. We were even checked in on to see that everything was okay. We will be back, the tag line to Pekes Manor we thought summed it up perfectly, distinctively different it certainly is. Truly special, we have fallen in love and will be back soon.

Visited for our son’s wedding reception and Pekes Manor was truly awesome. We stayed a total of three magical days and loved every single second! The accommodation was perfect and the grounds and facilities were ideal.

Whilst we took part in some great activities around brighton, the general consensus from the stags was that it was the manor house which made the stag weekend great. If you want to chill and relax or enjoy an active break this will not disappoint

Pekes Manor fulfilled all our expectations. An amazing experience not to be forgotten. This is the second time we have had a large gathering a Pekes Manor and both experiences were fantastic. The main house manages to be both impressive and homely the same time. It’s relaxed atmosphere makes for a really fun place to stay with family and friends. Many thanks again to Kildare and his team.

Pekes is s special place in magical surroundings – the old world charm is everywhere and the dedicated team are among the most helpful and friendly you will find. A genuine warm welcome is a lovely start to any break….this was our experience at Pekes. We visited during the February half term in 2019 with our two daughters (9&10)…we had Spring like weather everyday and Pekes seemed even more beautiful. Since we last visited 4 years ago, many very noticeable changes have occurred….lots of investment in time, money and love is obvious. Our chosen rental property (Tudor View) is a warm and cosy dwelling that flanks the Tudor Manor House….there isn’t a bad view from any window!….the main bedroom has one of most impressive views available anywhere…seeing is believing! Daily swimming in the recently refurbished pool is a delight (very warm water these days) – the large jacuzzi is always hot and ready to use, there is a sauna for those who do. For us the gardens and surrounds are what make Pekes what it is. Historically preserved with lifetimes of work on display to all that care to wander…..and wander we did! The feeling of safely for children to play is priceless, we enjoyed many games of hide and seek (based on a TV show called ‘Hunted’) – GPS tracking the kids around the estate is great fun and a golden memory. The estate is also very enjoyable for couples and groups seeking a break away from the busy outside world. I have been visiting Pekes since the 1980’s and have always enjoyed the easy living – the 2 pubs are a joy and very different. You will be delighted with the food on offer and the olde worlde surroundings. So in summary I would easily recommend Pekes as a lovely break to spend a break away from the hustle and bustle of the busy world. Just go and relax…….. — with Claire O'Keeffe .

We’ve had the perfect New Year break here at The Gatekeepers Cottage. Two adults and three children. The cottage is so cosy and my son has loved reading all the children’s books doing puzzles and playing snakes and ladders. We’ve used the tennis courts and played football. Fed the ducks in the duck pond and visiting the chickens and hunted Gruffalo in the woods. The pool is excellent. A really good size and lots of fun. The hot tub is an added bonus. We will definitely be back to visit in the summer.

Spent Christmas here this year and all I can say it was amazing! Such a lovely house, highly recommend this to anyone thats looking for a quite get away with family and friends. Nice long walks, great to take the dogs! Definitely would come back here again! Can’t explain the feeling it gives until you go there yourself.

We booked Pekes manor and some of its surrounding cottages for our wedding this late September, and enjoyed it for a whole weekend. The place is beautiful, outside and inside, clean, well maintained, with spa facilities for adults and a playground for kids, we couldn’t have asked for more! The communication with the owners was so easy and they made every effort to ensure we have all our needs met. We couldn’t recommend this place enough, hopefully we will come back one day to celebrate our anniversary there.

This place is a real find. Stayed with my brother and our four respective young children in the Edwardian wing during February half-term. Lovely old period feel to the accommodation, and great grounds for the children to play in, complete with games room, steam room. hot tubs and a beautiful heated indoor swimming pool in its own conservatory. The house is also in a pretty remote area, so you feel like you’re properly in the countryside (some rural areas of Kent still a feel a bit "commuter belt" in my opinion.). Overall, a great rural bolthole, especially if you want somewhere handy close to London.

My daughter booked the entire venue for three days for her wedding in July. The quirky yet elegant manor and its cottages and facilities were ideal, providing both atmosphere and privacy for the many quests. We were able to arrive early to set up and arrange flowers and decorate the rented marquee. The charming “wing” was the setting for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready. The large dining room and kitchen were perfect for breakfast on the one rainy day. The pool and jacuzzi were well used as well as the lovely grounds for the afternoon reception. Guests travelled from all over the world to attend this wonderful wedding in a perfect setting. We could not have asked for more!Show less

We rented the whole of the Pekes Manor estate for our July wedding and had an absolutely fabulous time. We had the run of the place for the entire weekend, meaning we were able to do exactly what we wanted for our wedding! Kildare was so helpful from start to finish and the staff members were very friendly and flexible with us, which we really appreciated. We had a number of guests coming from abroad and were able to house them for the entire weekend, making it extra special. We loved our weekend 40th birthday celebrations. The house is brilliantly charming complete with a Cat…. and lots of amenities make for a fun packed weekend. Wish we had longer to enjoy it all.

We have just had a superb experience of staying at Pekes Manor for the weekend, celebrating my partner’s 60th birthday. We had 50 guests and took over the whole site. The grounds are spectacular, and include a beautiful indoor swimming pool surrounded by plants, two hot tubs, one with a lovely view across fields. The Manor itself manages to be both grand and full of Tudor history while at the same time being warm and friendly, with open fireplaces and lots of different rooms to cozy up in. I can’t recommend this place enough.

We stayed as an extended family back in October, three generations.

The main house is a beautiful period property set in well maintained gardens. The pool, courts and games room kept everyone amused, plus there was great local walks (when the weather allowed). We also loved the dinning arrangements which allowed 18 of us to be seated comfortably for meals.

Their were only two real downsides. The first was the unholy noises created by the pipe work when the heating was in use. This wasn’t intrusive in the living space but affected some of the bedrooms. Not all of the family felt that this contributed in a positive way to the halloween atmosphere. The second, and seemingly correctable problem, was the state of the mattresses. It is not an exaggeration to suggest that some where genuine antiques, which is nice, but I prefer a mattress that has working springs.

Overall the house was good and the negatives didn’t overshadow an important family occasion.

Fabulous setting, unique houses and great value for money. The owners are friendly and laid back and the grounds are stunning. Recommended!

We have been coming to Pekes Manor with our dogs since 2009. We absolutely love the whole place, the setting is beautiful and has a magical charm and peace which is hard to describe without feeling it for yourself. We have stayed in three of the holiday properties now and they all have their own unique atmosphere. A very special place.

Stunning place with beautiful views, lovely weekend hear

I arrived at Pekes Manor as the sun started to set at 4pm. The house is situated in rural East Sussex and is the largest of a collection that form the Pekes estate. Dating back from 1550 it has stood the test of time extremely well and has an astonishing collection of rooms that feel steeped in history. In my opinion what makes the house so special is that, rather that being gutted and re-furnished, much of the interior is original and there for visitors to enjoy. It has not been ‘sanitised’ for rental and there is a wonderful atmosphere. The dining room can seat all 18 guests and the kitchen/scullery with Aga can easily cater for them all. The house’s Achilles’ heel is a lack of sitting room space (the room is only small) but as long as you’re happy to sit around in the kitchen or dining room that should not be a problem. Upstairs the bedrooms are charming and comfortable. All are of a size fitting to the house, large enough to be airy but not vast. The modern-day bathroom was not around in the 1550s so all have had to be added more recently and, as with most houses, they number less than the bedrooms. From the website; There are 8 double bedrooms and 4 bathrooms (2 with bath, WC and basin, 2 with modern shower, WC and basin).

The facilities include all that you could ask for, indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna, tennis court and badminton lawn. They are shared with the other five properties on the estate though can be booked for exclusive use on an hourly basis. Privacy is reasonable and plenty for a family gathering or birthday party (though perhaps not an 18th!) – given how many repeat bookings are received previous visitors must be very happy. The location is also superb; Landed Houses’ closest property to London yet still with a rural feel. Pekes Manor itself sleeps 18 and with all the additional properties 50 can be accommodated – a great collection.

My daughter celebrated her 50th birthday in this beautiful old house! It was a surprise weekend booked by her husband! We were 11 adults and 8 children, age range being 6-83. We had the most wonderful time! An old house but modernised without spoiling the original features in lovely grounds and with walks nearby. Two kitchens with all the equipment we could possibly need. Comfortable beds, all made with fresh white bedding. Very inviting! We lit the log fire one evening, which added to the atmosphere. Plenty for us all to do! Tennis, croquet, etc. and a lovely heated indoor swimming pool, which the 8 children especially enjoyed! I would definitely recommend this house for a special event. Plenty of room for our party of 19! One of the best times we’ve had together as a family! Everyone enjoyed everything!

A group of 18 of us stayed in Pekes Manor for our 10 year university reunion. The manor, garden and games room were fantastic and we used all the facilities (including the swimming pool and jacuzzi) throughout the weekend.

We loved exploring the house (which is a bit maze like but was great fun to look around!) and found that everywhere was perfectly clean, the beds were comfortable and the heating and aga made the house really cosy for our stay.

Kildare made booking Pekes incredibly easy, and was so helpful in answering all of our questions. We also met other members of the team (including Jilly) who were very helpful on arrival and throughout the weekend.

We had a fantastic time and would 100% recommend.
