House Fact

The famous 18th Century poet Percy Bysshe Shelley owned the house but perhaps of more interest, the garden boasts the tallest tree in the area, a 30m Wellingtonia planted in the 1850s alongside a Cedar tree.

Edmund's Choice of Extraordinary Feature

“One of my favourite features at The Long House has to be the swimming pool. With its large stone pillars covered with foliage, it offers some privacy to the pool whilst adding some real architectural detail and flare.”

Remarkable. Historic. Well-equipped. Fun. Interesting. We are a Family of 10 adults, 12 children aged 17 to 8, staying over the (very hot) Bank Holiday long weekend. This historic house has everything you’d want and more : character, sublime country surroundings, elegant and/or quirky rooms with many bathrooms. Lots of options for eating in, or outside. Kitchen is very well equipped indeed. Multiple fridges and dish-washers. Hundreds of glasses, of all types. Just right for family occupation we found – and afternoon/evening drinks! Large pool table in the Library was very popular, also quiet areas to read or study (GCSEs etc). The swimming pool is much better than it looked from a distance, probably the centre of our family life – with garden/chairs on nearby lawn for teenagers and parents to lounge; table-tennis in adjacent Tap room; television for watching football (Premiership final day!) and another quiet TV room for a disabled child. Perfect. Large rear lawn for cricket, games etc, plus tennis court. Front lawn with TWO croquet lawns, overlooking stunning trees and lakes. All-age fun, yet quiet areas to retreat. Woodland walks are adjacent, good in the heat. Last but not least : the service by ALL staff was excellent, being friendly, helpful and pro-active. You won’t find better, in my view.

Celebrating my 70th birthday in this beautiful house was a total joy. There is a wonderfully generous spirit about the whole place; excellent equipment with everything provided that one could wish for, no bossy notices, objects of interest at every turn, excellent pool and tennis court, and 2 croquet lawns. There are lovely walks from the door, through woods full of bluebells. It feels like deep country and yet it’s only 20 minutes from Haywards Heath and Gatwick. I would love to book it again.

We stayed at Long house to celebrate my 60th birthday and it was everything I could have wished for and more. The house is amazing and just the right size for a party. The weather was great also (dispite the storm blowing through on the Friday night, which brought Jo to the house as the power was out but only for a short time)so we were able to make the most of everything. Tennis court , pool, croquet lawn were all fab. We had roulette and black jack tables brought in for one night and catered dinner the other with enough space for all to be enjoyed perfectly. The house has all the equipment and glasses etc you could wish for to make the occasion special with all the bedrooms just right for each couple . Long house made my 60th birthday everything I could have wished for and more. Thank you to all the Long House team

We came to the Long House for a celebratory family weekend, 20 people aged 8 months to 73 years, and we all had the most wonderful time. The house is set up to make everything as easy as possible and provides activities for all in a beautiful, comfortable environment. The heated pool was a huge hit and so were all the other activities too numerous to mention. Catering was made easy with a large kitchen equipped with ample supplies of everything including an aga. Our dogs loved the numerous walks from the doorstep and the secure garden. Bedrooms were beautiful with comfortable facilities, and the house was clean but not so pristine as to be a worry. The Long House is a wonderful venue for any large group and we cannot recommend it highly enough. Thank you.

We had the most magical weekend in The Long House, it completely exceeded expectations. It was my 30th Birthday and everything was set up perfectly, the house is built for big occasions and there is nothing Lorraine and Pippa haven’t thought of – easy access country walks during the day, tennis , karoake , pool, bbq with everything clearly label and signposted so you never have issues. I cannot wait to stay again and will definitely recommend.

Our family of 14 from teens to octogenarians spent a very happy week at Long House. The comfort, spaciousness and facilities were exactly right for us. There’s lots to do, both insidde and outside, with an excellent tennis court and pool, lovely country walks straight from the front door. The kitchen is very well equipped for self-catering and the lovely, well-maintained garden a delightful setting for a BBQ. The karaoke was much enjoyed by all! The sunny little study room with excellent wi-fi was much appreciated by two of our number who had to do some work from home, and proximity to Haywards Heath railway station was useful for those who had to go to London. We also loved having the guinea fowl roaming about. Thank you to all the Long House team.

Alison

We have just spent the Easter weekend staying in this fantastic place. We were a group of 18 aged 15 to 93. The Long House was fabulous. There was so much space. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was so well equipped and the sitting room spacious and warm. The house was beautifully clean. We enjoyed swimming in the pool, playing tennis, table tennis, pool and the croquet lawn was a hit! Communication was great. A big thank you to the staff. We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to come again. Would definitely

I don’t know where to start! The house the grounds the welcome everything was perfect. We went to the Long House for the weekend for my 80th birthday. My 3 children and their partners, 9 grandchildren with 3 of their partners, 20 of us in all. We felt instantly at home and cannot recommend it enough. We wanted somewhere where we could all be together but also have space for those who just wanted a quiet place to read a book. We played every sporting game imaginable both indoors and outside, the only thing we didn’t have time for was the swimming pool. But we played pool, rounders, tennis, croquet, etc etc. and board games. There were beautiful walks and there was so much choice. We ordered a big online shop and the kitchen was really well equipped. We had a caterer bring in lunch on the Saturday which we just put in the ovens and served ourselves. On the sunday we BBQued. We were very lucky to have a beautifully sunny weekend but even if the weather had not been with us the Long House would still have been perfect. We hope one day to be able to go again! Thank you Long House!

Just wow! We vlspent last weekend at The Long House for a family birthday celebration. 17 of us (all adults / teenagers), 2 dogs and a tortoise! Sadly it was too cold to use the pool, but that didn’t matter because there was so much else to do. Tennis, table tennis, darts, pool, croquet, chatting around the open fire, cooking in the huge kitchen, dining around the vast table, walking to the gorgeous local pub across fields, stiles and woodland bridges. The configuration of bedrooms worked perfectly for our group but there was flexibility to change the beds from doubles to twins. Jo, Lorraine and Pippa were fabulous from the start of the booking process, on arrival and promptly returning the deposit. Don’t hesitate to book this – you won’t regret it. We can’t wait to return – but in the summer so we can use that pool!

Rebecca Cooper

We returned to the Long House for a family birthday celebration. Once again everything was fantastic. The team are really helpful and responsive and the house is amazing.

Ben Harris

Wow. Such a magnificent venue and you can see how much care goes into running it.

We were 17 over a weekend for a birthday and it was everything we could have asked for. A great kitchen and plenty to do across the games in the house and the Tennis. Thank you!

Mary Starnes

Thank you for a wonderful location for our family holiday. Plenty of space and variety of activities for our whole age range – 1 to 73 years. It is a beautiful and well equipped home with it’s hidden corners perfect for an engaging treasure hunt! The big fireplaces providing a great cosy ending for each day. All queries were answered promptly and helpfully and the house was well equipped in all areas. We highly recommend it and would love to come again.

This is a WOW House We used the house for my week’s 80th birthday celebrations starting on weekdays to host friends and the weekend for our 4 children and partners together with 9 grandchildren, the eldest being 9. The house is a beautiful confection of “Elizabethan” and “Georgian” construction all fully maintained with sumptious fixtures, fittings and contents We were met by the house manager Jo who provided a friendly escorted tour of the house pointing out the positives, how various items of equipment worked and for Health and Safety the differing floor levels between each room as is usual in such homes. All maintained in first class order with contents left in situ by the recently retired owners. All demonstrating a love for the building and contents. The grounds are immaculately maintained containing a full variety of game birds to view and for our elderly Labrador to ogle. The heated pool was at a Caribbean temperature to the delight of grand children and their 4 mums. The Wendy House and games room provides a host of toys for the children whilst the adults much enjoyed the pool table and table tennis set up. We all had the most enjoyable time, full of memories set off in this beautiful house and grounds. I unhesitatingly recommend The Long House and pay tribute to the owners and staff employed in the enterptise. Brick Kiln Stud

We stayed at The Long House as a large multigenerational group on our annual family get together – we have rented a large house each year for the past 34 years. All agreed this was the best house we had stayed in as the location and facilities were so good. The house itself is a beautiful historic house yet it remains homely and family orientated. The cooking and dining facilities were excellent and we cooked each night and had a fun dinner party after the babies were put to bed. The tennis court became the hub of our days even for those new to the game. The pool whilst small is ideal for a dip and the little ones in our party had a great time in the wonderfully warm water. We made good use of the billiard room and the croquet lawns as well as the immense walled garden. All enjoyed walks on the Downs but perhaps better were the walks direct from the house – the favourite being the walk to the Crabtree pub. I would thoroughly recommend this lovely house especially as the local team were very helpful yet non intrusive. We will definitely be back!

My family and I have just enjoyed a wonderful week at The Long House. Everything excelled expectations. We all enjoyed exploring the house and surrounding countryside. We will certainly recommend it to our friends. Thank you Pippa for allowing us to enjoy the experience

A big group of friends and I have just had a weekend there and I can’t recommend it highly enough! It comfortably sleeps 15, and can easily accommodate a few more. The house itself is stunning; the communication is absolutely top notch; and the team were very understanding with a slight mishap we had. The range of activities on offer is amazing, with a lovely pool, pool table, tennis court, darts board, table tennis – all really good quality (equipment is provided, though if you want to play a very high quality then bring your own!) There’re great sound systems there for music, and even mics! We catered for sixteen very easily, cooking big breakfasts without any difficulty, and the gardens are lovely for a stroll around as well – we could have had a week or ten days there no problem at all! Thank you very much to Pippa, Jo, Lorraine and the team!

With any large group whilst it’s great all being together, there are times you need space and time to relax. The Long House offers both, large areas to sit and dine together, but smaller nooks to take time out. The enclosed garden which has the playhouse, BBQ and outdoor dining area is ideal for dogs and children to be seen by the adults and stay safe. The pool was warm and clean. We took advantage of the pool towels, there were plenty to go round. The whole house was clean, the beds, bedding, pillows all comfortable. Our group had a go at all on offer, pool, darts, ping pong, board games, croquet (which was hilarious) and tennis. There were even night walks to track toads and other wildlife. The grounds are lovely and the local walks relaxing. Can’t recommend it enough. The communication with the team at the Long House was really good and they seem to really go out of their way to make your stay successful. Our group was having such a good time no one wanted to go home.

I booked the Long House for a large reunion party. The check in was really smooth and we were quickly left to our own devices. The house and the grounds are absolutely fantastic. Everyone had a lovely bedroom. The kitchen was fantastic for cooking up a storm, and the dining room is a great place to get together with friends. I also brought my dog along who had the time of his life. Any questions were answered rapidly via a Whatsapp group set up by the hosts. I highly recommend the Long House.

Joanna Taylor

I booked Long House for my 50th birthday celebrations, and it proved to be a fantastic choice! We were a group of family and friends and the house had a warm and welcoming vibe, as well as being enormous! The kitchen was well equipped – more than enough plates, mugs, cutlery etc – and had a nice relaxed feel. The dining room was perfect for afternoon tea (could squeeze in 26 people), while the tap room was a great space for the evening games and dancing. As well as this, there is a huge but cosy living room where we enjoyed an open fire, plus a TV room and a pool room – all enjoyed by my guests, as were the stunning grounds on a beautiful sunny morning.

The team who run Long House were all very efficient and friendly to deal with. There was a power cut on the first night, but an engineer was called and I was reassured that there would be no further issues. Fresh flowers had also been cut from the garden and displayed around the house – a very nice touch. Toiletries were supplied too, and lovely fluffy towels. All in all, I felt the house provided very good value.

My birthday weekend whizzed by, and I would have loved to stay longer as Long House has so much to offer. I’m sure it’s fantastic in the summer, with the pool etc too, and I hope we might return one day…! Thank you for a wonderful and memorable stay.

The Long House went far beyond our expectations- we had a faultless stay. We were a group of 15 and the house had absolutely everything. It was so well equipped and this helped make the whole weekend so relaxing. We received a very helpful handbook which we found so useful. The communication from start to finish was very professional and any questions I asked were promptly answered. The house was so comfortable, with lovely bedrooms and a great feeling of space. I highly recommend and thank you so much for letting us stay. We will certainly be coming back!

Came from Australia to share a family Christmas with family and could not have wished for a more perfect house to celebrate in. The attention to detail and the Christmas trees beautifully decorated including an outdoor one made it magical. The house was warm and inviting and had so much to do, everyone bonded over different t activities. Loved everything about it. Thank you to Jo, Lorraine and Pippa for sharing their beautiful home with us and look forward to returning again someday xx

Alison O'Shea

We cannot thank Pippa, Lorraine and Jo enough for a seemless and helpful booking and checking in/out process. Every question answered and everything you could possibly ask for was provided. 19 of us have just spent the most amazing weekend at the Long House for a family 60th birthday celebration. There was plenty for everyone of every age to do, pool, darts, table tennis, tennis, swimming plus ample and beautiful gardens for additional games. The house catered for everyone, with large rooms to all get together in where we hosted musicians to entertain our guests. Smaller little snugs and lounges meant everyone could have there own space and time out when they wanted to and the playroom was great for my niece’s to chill out in. The bedrooms had everything you needed, comfortable beds, towels and toiletries were an unexpected but appreciated addition. Pool towels were provided and a laundry room meant we had somewhere to dry wet swimming kit. The kitchen really does have everything you can think of including those essentials like washing up liquid, foil and clingfilm, salt and pepper etc. Ample crockery, cutlery and glassware, and fortunately two dishwashers! It is safe to say that we had an amazing weekend and would not hesitate to book the Long House in the future.

As a large family of 16 adults, 4 children and a baby we have just had a wonderful week’s holiday and would love to revisit. From the moment we set foot inside, we were very excited to be staying in this lovely, spacious and beautiful house. The kitchen is very well- equipped, the beds are comfy and there are indoor and outdoor dining tables with plenty of room for all of us. The tap room is a super space, tons of room for games and dancing. The outdoor areas are well-kept, plenty of lawns for all the sporting activities we had planned and lovely walks possible through fields and woods. The swimming pool is warm, and was very well used daily. We enjoyed the pool table room, the sunny, peaceful morning room and the 8 year old and baby loved the playroom. Although the lounge was hardly used, I can imagine it would be lovely on cold days with the fire burning. The 10 bedrooms gave us all plenty of privacy and are so lovely, everyone was delighted. We only had 2 minor problems and each time Jo came straight away. You would certainly not be disappointed if you stayed at the Long House.

John Tudor

12 of us stayed for a long weekend in this wonderful property.

It is equipped to the highest standard with a magnificent kitchen (island / Aga etc.) super airy bedrooms, plenty of casual seating in several rooms, a fully equipped games room (darts, table tennis, karaoke, dancing) and a pool / snooker table. Outside is a large and beautiful garden with (warm!) heated swimming pool, a hard tennis court and extensive gardens with two croquet lawns and a (non-gas) BBQ. Further afield we had lovely long walks in the country near-by, seeing several deer and lots of bird life.

The house had a big indoor dining table and also one outside for fine-weather dining. It was completely as advertised – perfect. The Long House is very peaceful, being set in a large area of countryside (mostly forestry and farmland), near Cowfold in Sussex, about a 10 minute drive away from a small supermarket. Horsham is not far away if a full shop is required.

The staff were friendly, punctual, helpful, organised and efficient.

We all had a great time and immediately decided to go back again next year. We are already looking forward to it.

Matt Unwin

We had a lovely long weekend celebrating 75th/80th birthdays and The Long House was the perfect location for both young and old guests. Lovely walks. Plenty of games to play and a great location for indoor or outdoor dinner parties. Local caterer, Laron Solomon, produced a wonderful 3 course meal for the Saturday night. Perfect whatever the weather. Thank you so much Jo and Pippa

Kathryn Sharp

The Longhouse is amazing. I unreservedly recommended it highly for large groups. The price is very reasonable and the communication with the owner, Pippa, administrator, Lorraine and the manager, Jo is second to none. Very swift responses to queries and generally very helpful indeed. As for the house and grounds – they are amazing, grand without being pretentious. The photos do not do it justice. I echo everything said in the previous glowing reviews. We were there as a family group of 20, 10 adults and 10 children ranging from 10months to 11 years. The accommodation is fabulous and we were able to give each couple their own bathroom and most of the children too. They all felt very special in their own space. The kitchen is very well equipped and the downstairs space is perfect. We had one catered meal from Clare at Party Pantries and that was superb. We were all spoilt for choice for activities – croquet, tennis, rounders and the swimming pool was fabulous – beautifully warm with some pool toys. Inside – plenty of board games, darts, table tennis, roulette plus the TV room with lots of CD Films. The kids playroom was fantastic – jigsaws, soft toys, colouring materials – the younger children and babies were in seventh heaven. What more did we need.? The location was peaceful just a few miles from Cowfold for extra provisions. We went on a lovely 4.5km walk from the house which was fun. We could have visited nearby sights but were more than happy with being all together at the house. We all kept fit looking for each other in the huge space but it was worth it for all it gave back to us. We were given a photo shoot for our birthday and the photos are stunning with the Longhouse as a backdrop. We all hope to return again one day and our huge thanks go to everyone concerned in offering the Longhouse for our pure enjoyment. We have made unparalleled memories

We had such a lovely stay at the Long House as a large family group plus groom’s party for a family wedding which was taking place close by. It is the most beautiful, comfortable and relaxed house and all the guests thoroughly enjoyed their stay. It was perfect to be able to offer all our guests their own bathroom to get ready for the wedding. We were a party of 13 plus two small children and the house didn’t feel crowded at all. The kitchen is situated right in the centre of the house and provided a great hub to get together. We had several large dinners and the house is so well equipped to do this easily. The gardens are lovely and we even managed to walk in between the showers!

Debbie Smith

We organised a family of 22, including 2 babies and a toddler, to stay for the weekend at the Long House. It was a truly amazing house which gave everyone from the range of ages, 6 months to 80, something to do, see or spend family time together, whether inside or out! Communication with those who own/manage the house was exceptional too. The quality of linen and towels was 5*. We can’t speak more highly of the experience the Long House gave us and hope to return one day.

Naomi Finlay

We have had the most amazing stay at The Long House. There were 21 of us and a baby, yet we had so much space in the house we just lost each other! The weather was very rainy but we did some lovely walks from the house to the local pubs, There was plenty of wood for the lovely open fires and the owners had thought of everything. We all travelled so far from all over the world to be together as a family for the New Year and we all have so many good memories from our week stay at The Long House. Thank you so much to the whole team involved, very impressed.

Christine Fensom

We have just enjoyed a most wonderful weekend at The Long House. We were an intergenerational group of 17 adults and 9 children ranging from 8 years old to 9 months and there was something for everyone. The play room and outdoor playhouse were a huge bonus for the children and the pool table, games/party room were a big hit with the adults. We all said we must return in the summer so we can use the pool. There are chill out spaces for everyone from the formal lounge with its historical ambience and log fire, to the TV room with comfy chairs and 100s of DVDs to watch. The communication with Pippa, Lorraine and Jo was excellent and the house was set up just as we had requested with extra beds for the children. The kitchen is very well equipped and everything we needed was there. The gardens and surrounding areas are beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local environment. We had a catered meal on the Saturday evening from Clare at Party Pantries which was wonderful and a delicious Sunday lunch at The Bolney Stage. I highly recommend The Long House as a perfect place for any large group. We will definitely be back!!

Nigel Moss

The house and grounds are beautiful. There is so much to do around the house, tennis, table tennis, a great quality pool table, croquet and swimming. Really can’t fault the place. And such great communication from Pippa, Jo and Lorraine made organising it a breeze.

Lynn Hill

WOW…. What an amazing house, we had a brilliant time. There was 17 of us aged from late 60’s to 7 years and there was plenty of room for everyone to do their own thing if they wanted too, and plenty of big tables to all gather round for family time together. The house has everything you could possibly need. All towels and bedding was lovely and clean and there was baskets of towels for the pool area also, which was a bonus. Weather was mostly good but the times we did have some rain there was plenty to keep everyone occupied in the house or out and about visiting local attractions. We had one minor problem and Jo was brilliant, she came out to us on a Sunday evening to sort the problem out…. Thank you. Communication with Pippa, Lorraine and Jo was excellent throughout the whole booking process. Would definitely recommend this lovely old house for anyone who wants to spend time with friends and family, you won’t be disappointed. We all loved our stay and was sad to leave ☺️ Thank you Pippa, Jo and Lorraine for making our family holiday perfect

Wood Family

A stunning Grade 2 Listed House that surpassed our expectations. Incredibly well equipped with sporting and leisure facilities. The house has a superbly equipped kitchen with an Aga and literally dozens of glasses and flatware. The staff are helpful and very welcoming. We had a wonderful weekend and our children and particularly grandchildren had an outstanding time. Long House was a tremendous success and we recommend it highly for larger get together.

MARK CHRISTMAS

What a fabulous historic house this is. Situated in lovely countryside with great walks from the house. A peaceful location which has large private gardens. Plenty of room for many guests. We had a party of 21 and the house felt very spacious for this number of guests. Excellent range of sporting / leisure facilities in the house and grounds for active members and scenic quiet locations also for some time out and relaxing! All well organised with helpful and friendly owner and manager.

Anne Davis

Difficult to find fault with The Long House. Truly beautiful and historic house, set in extensive grounds. Very spacious and comfortable bedrooms, two dining tables, one inside and one out, each able to accommodate at least 20 people in comfort, and a fantastically well equipped kitchen. Excellent local caterers provide superb meals, and the well-maintained swimming pool is a huge hit with children.

Tallulah Fairfax

We just had our wedding at Long House and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Not only did the house and the grounds look completely idyllic on the day – but the house itself is so lovely and comfortable. It was completely the perfect mix between an incredible place to bring our guests and a lovely retreat for us both in the run up and after the wedding. Thank you so much for having us! Pippa, Jo and Lorraine went out of their way to help us and accommodate what we wanted on our day. I hope we can come back for our anniversary (every year?!). Thanks again, Tallulah & Nat

Rob M

Stayed for a weekend with friends and I have to say this accommodation is nothing short of superb and very good value for money.

Stunning gardens and loads of fun sporty activities to be done.

Brilliant facilities and really helpful and friendly hosts.

Would very highly recfomend.

What a wonderful house. We stayed as a large family group for my parents 60th wedding anniversary and it was perfect. The grounds were beautiful in March and we spent the days playing tennis, snooker, croquet and table tennis. The kitchen was perfect with plenty of space and everything you could possibly need. The large tables for eating at were great for our large group and we ate both inside and out. We definitely hope to come again.

Wow! We have just returned from a fantastic weekend spent with extended family in this amazing house. It was a very comfortable stay with excellent amenities and an extremely well equipped kitchen. It is very spacious and has a beautiful room complete with log fire. The grounds are lovely and the tennis court was well used. Pippa and Jo communicated really well at every stage of the booking/checking in process and Pippa was really prompt at answering any questions. The catering company she recommended is worth every penny as we barely noticed they were there and when we left the table the kitchen was already immaculate. I would definitely recommend this house as a place to stay with a large group of people.

Fabulous stay for a friends 40th. Amazing grounds and the house incredible so much to do for adults and children. Tennis, croquet, table tennis a swimming pool to name a few. We had a fabulous stay could not have asked for more even a play room for the kids although my little boy was to busy exploring the house. Highly recommend

A big group of us stayed for birthday celebrations and the house worked amazingly well for both the adults and kids. The pool table, table tennis, croquet and tennis were all used a lot and it was great to have so much equipment available for us all to have a go. Bedrooms are lovely and we really enjoyed the big kitchen right at the heart of the house. Also great to have such a big dining table that could seat everyone – quite hard to find in big houses. The pool was a bit too cold to use but we were visiting in October.

I spent the weekend here celebrating my 40th with close friends. As soon as we arrived we were amazed at this beautiful big house, the grounds are stunning too with tennis court, croquet and gorgeous walks exploring the gardens. So much space for all 20 of us including children. Kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. We are already planning the next celebration to come back and stay!

I have just spent my 60th Birthday at the Long House with family and friends. It was magical and just an ideal location. The amenities were fantastic especially the heated pool. Plenty of room to spread out or be together. Pippa (the owner) and Jo ( the house manager) could not do enough to ensure our stay met our requirements and more, both before and during the weekend. The history of the house was interesting and I felt like lady of the manor for the weekend. Very sad to leave and hope to be able to return before too long.

I hired this house for a large group to stay for my 30th and wow what a wonderful and magical house it was! We were all in awe of the magnitude and grandeur of this wonderful house! The photos really do not do it justice. The original character of the house has been kept whilst also modernising the key elements. It had everything we needed to entertain 24 guests for the weekend; from tennis courts, to the heated pool to a large selection of DVDs to watch whilst snuggled up in the TV room. All the rooms were very comfortable and had lots of space for people to stay. Not to mention the kitchen was a dream to cook for a large group In. Pippa and Jo were super helpful in making sure our stay was comfortable and organised. I hope to return to this special house again one day.

Unbelievable house and perfect for large groups and gatherings. The house itself is amazing and the area surrounding it is even better. There is plenty of things to do to keep guests entertained such as the pool table, table tennis, darts, tennis & swimming in the pool. On top of this great value for money and Pippa / Jo maintained excellent communication before and throughout our stay to ensure that any queries were answered swiftly.

Emma

What a fabulous place! The house is in a wonderfully peaceful countryside setting. Pippa and Jo couldn’t have been more helpful leading up to and during our stay. The flexibility of the accommodation (in particular the dinning areas, pool, and pool room) are stand-out features of this brilliant property. We all had an incredible stay and hopefully will be back!

Staying at the Long House is like having a beautiful country hotel all to yourself. The house is amazing, full of character but with all modern conveniences. The setting is idyllic, the gardens are so peaceful and relaxing. It was the perfect start to the day having breakfast in the walled garden and a bbq in the evening with so much space to all socialise together. We were celebrating my husband’s 50th Birthday and there were 4 families, 14 of us all together (8 adults, 6 teenagers) and there was something for everyone. There was loads do – a beautifully warm swimming pool, darts, table tennis, pool, gorgeous walks in the grounds and beyond, and so much room for people to either all be together or do their own thing. Jo (manager) and Pippa (owner) are lovely, they were available beforehand and during our stay to answer any queries and the house is beautifully clean and well maintained. The photos cannot do justice to how amazing this estate is, we loved everything about it!

Not a vegan by any stretch. This is still the best breakfast I have ever eaten in my entire life. Don’t think about it, just go!

Delicious food and friendly staff. I had a pot of tea, and my only suggestion would be please serve the milk in something with a lip or spout so it’s easier to pour. Other than that, absolutely fantastic! I had the scrambled tofu, and portion sizes were big.

Update: Oat milk Latè £2.90 (2nd highest price in Brighton) small cup with no handle, saucer or spoon, so when I asked for brown sugar I have to use the tiny spoon in the jar and place it on the lid or table making a mess, if there was a saucer with it’s own spoon it would be ok, so it was a bit hot to hold from the edges so consider frail people with disabilities. The coffee was very nice. Vegan Breakfast was very good apart from the tasteless tomatoes I didn’t eat. Pricing was a tad unclear and a bit misleading (not staffs fault im sure) it was £7.90 but looking at the board it looks like £7.0 as they don’t put the 0 after the 9 and the 9 was right next to a line on the board £7.9 when £7.90p makes it clear, nice staff, great cheff, Tofu never tasted so good, Mushrooms, Avocado with seeds n spices was nice, sour dough was a bit tough to cut but was a nice change.

Went in for a tasty vegan brunch on a Friday. The staff was lovely and the vibe was welcoming and laid back. The full breakfast scrambled tofu and garlic mushrooms were great. And the smokey beans on toast were hearty and delicious. Finally – the mango turmeric smoothie was excellent – definitely recommend. Well worth a visit!

My friend and I got the tomato and pesto on sourdough and avocado on gluten free toast respectively and they were both really on point and delicious! The kombucha tasted really natural and gut friendly too! So impressed! Staff were really friendly and lovely too. Definitely hope to be back 🙂
