Gresham Hall is a lovely Edwardian manor house that has been carefully split up into the main house and three wing apartments. These can be rented together to hold up to 22 people or with Hall Cottage to sleep 30. The property is in North Norfolk, just west of Cromer. It was recently renovated in 2019. It has the right balance of old-world charm and modern comfort.

The Upper Wing Apartment has two bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom. It can sleep four people. The sloping ceilings give the apartment a unique look, there is a king-size bed and a superking bed which can be turned into twin beds. The Ground Wing Apartment is easy to get to and doesn’t have many steps, so it’s a good choice for two people. It has its own patio area with a hot tub which can be booked for an additional cost. You can also easily get to the garden from here.

The Middle Wing flat has two bedrooms with their own bathrooms that can sleep four people. There is a sofa bed which can be used as an option for two additional people. There is also a kitchen that can seat six people and a TV room with a sofa bed.

The Main House is the most important part of the property. There are five bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor, and it can sleep up to ten people. Each bedroom has its own bathroom. One has a fancy slipper bath, and the master bedroom has a four-poster bed and a view of the garden.

The Main House has great places to have fun. The kitchen and dining room can accommodate up to 30 people for dinner. The morning room has extra seating around an open fire, perfect for reading the morning papers or curling up with a book and the spectacular drawing room has a ceiling inspired by the Arts and Crafts style. The property benefits from stunning large windows which give beautiful light to the large rooms. The big gardens, which also have a tennis court, a hot tub and an orchard, are full of places to build dens and go on treasure hunts.

Location and Things to Do

Gresham Hall is located about three miles from the coast, near the seaside town of Cromer in North Norfolk. Cromer has a mainline train station, with trains from London taking approximately four hours. Taxis are also readily available for short journeys to the Hall.

The property is close to a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just west of the North Norfolk coastline. The nearby towns of Sheringham and Holt boast wide sandy beaches, with opportunities for crabbing and traditional seaside treats like whelks and cockles. The Norfolk coast is renowned for its crabbing, especially from Cromer Pier.

Weddings

Gresham Hall is a beautiful location to host your wedding party. We can sleep up to 32 of your guests between our properties. There is a beautiful parkland to erect a marquee and no neighbours so you can dance all night long.

House Fact

Gresham Hall was built by Colonel Batt (hence the bat over the front door), between October 1907 and April 1908 using wooden scaffolding, labour and materials from the Gresham Estate, and the bricks were baked in the estate kiln.

Edmund's Choice of Extraordinary Feature

“This is a great house for flexible accommodation, if you’ve got a mix of family and friends of different ages, with different dinner-time needs and so on. Very easy to have a raucous, late dinner party, with space for the early-risers to retire in peace.”

Gresham Hall is the perfect venue for a weekend away with friends and family. The most peaceful, idyllic location and a stunning house. Edward couldn’t have been more helpful, always communicating swiftly and offering up loads of local tips and recommendations. Even the pheasants were friendly. We can’t wait to come back.

We stayed in this property for 3 days, from Friday evening to Monday morning. The entrance hall is very large and impressive. However, we were awed by the magnificent formal living room with beautiful views over the surrounding landscape. We built a fire in the large fireplace which immediately made the living room feel toasty and cosy. But there is central heating throughout the property as well. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped and we prepared several meals there over the weekend. There is an Aga stove and also an electric hob. There was a welcome basket of goodies including teabags, bread, cake and milk. Edward (the owner) popped in to say hello and gave us a dozen eggs from his farm. There were 9 of us in our party and all the bedrooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. They all had an en suite bathroom except the ground floor bedroom. The bedrooms all had towels and toiletries. The special touch was the hot tub in the garden. This was an enjoyable addition to the garden. Please bring your own beach towel if possible otherwise you have to pay to hire a beach towel. There wasn’t much to see in Gresham but we drove into Sheringham and had a bracing sea walk and a tasty pub lunch. Overall, we had a brilliant time and really enjoyed all the facilities of Gresham Hall.

Great family getaway – very much enjoyed by all. Super house and grounds – facilities bang on for our stay. Edward was very helpful. Looking forward to booking again for the next reunion – perhaps late Summer for better weather 🙂

I hosted my 40th Birthday weekend at Gresham Hell, renting all of thier accomodation across the property and it was the most wonderful unforgettable weekend! The House itself is immaculate and made to throw a birthday party and the grounds and gardens added to the weekend’s acitivties.

Edward went above and byond to make the weekend special, stepping in with my many questions and requests. Further afied the North Norfolk Coast is spectacular with some many day trips and beautiful spots to explore. We will be back, I hope!

A lovely stay in the Upper Wing apartment, well appointed kitchen. Also included was a welcome pack which had everything to get your holiday started. Very comfortable in beautiful surroundings, we partied in the main house which is stunning. The hot tub was a great extra as was the croquet and boules. An enjoyable weekend with friends.

Would highly recommend Gresham Hall as a stay in Norfolk.

Gresham Hall is a fabulous property in a beautiful setting. The hall has large, spacious rooms and is ideal for family gatherings. 4 ensuite large bedrooms on the first floor with another bedroom & bathroom on the ground floor. Plenty of parking. The welcome pack will get your holiday off to a great start. Nothing was too much trouble for Edward and his team. A great place to stay. Would highly recommend.

Reena Patel

We had an incredible weekend at Gresham Hall! From the moment we booked, Edward was a brilliant host—friendly, helpful, and always quick to reply. He made everything easy and stress-free in the lead-up to our stay.

The house is simply stunning. It’s spacious, full of character, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully laid out for groups. The bedrooms are very comfortable, the kitchen is well-equipped, and there’s plenty of room to relax and enjoy time together.

The grounds are just as impressive—beautifully maintained and incredibly peaceful. Everything about our stay felt special and we’re already looking forward to returning. A huge thank you to Edward for his hospitality—we can’t recommend Gresham Hall enough!

Adriaan

Stayed here with the family.

Absolutely wonderful place in Norfolk, would go back.

Has everything you need for a self catering accommodation.

Tamrat Shone

The Ground Wing apartment was perfect for our stay with our small dog. It was spacious and warm, stocked with all of the essentials we needed, and the hot tub was amazing. Parking was included. Easy access to a lovely garden for a quick dog walk, plus short(ish) driving distance to all the North Norfolk attractions. Would highly recommend.

Martin Teresa Atkinson

We have had a wonderful stay at Gresham Hall and Hall Cottage. There were 23 of us and we had an amazing stay. The rooms are all tastefully decorated and include everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Thank you to Edward who provided all the help and services required for such an enjoyable stay

Tania Winwood-Young

A fantastic location near North Norfolk beaches.

The apartment had all amenities required ensuring a comfortable stay.

The views of the wildlife from the apartment windows were extra special.

A Minihan

Fantastic place for a family get together. Location is great which enabled us to go and see Norwich cathedral, seals at Horsey Gap and much more. Accommodation is very well stocked with everything you can think of and si much space, large living room with seating for everyone and large dining tables etc. Rooms were very clean and well looked after. We did incur an issue which was outside the owner’s control but they dealt with it very promptly despite the late hour etc. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Jo Batting

I had a wonderful birthday weekend here, with a group of friends. All the rooms were bright, spacious, beautifully decorated and comfortable. The house was very well equipped with everything that you could need. We couldn’t have chosen anywhere better. It was the perfect venue for our Murder Mystery party! During our stay we visited Sheringham, enjoying a breezy walk along the seafront and enjoyed a very good Sunday roast at the local pub, The Wheatsheaf, in West Beckham. The rest of the weekend was spent either relaxing in the hot tub, sitting on the patio in the sunshine or enjoying a game of croquet on the lawn. None of us wanted to leave this very special place. We all want to go back again soon.

Rosie Bradford

We had a wonderful stay at Gresham Hall. It was really well set up for our large family get together and the children absolutely loved exploring the large garden. Edward was so welcoming and helpful. We hope to return again.

Hazel Mears

Stayed at Field Barn for the 2nd time and thorough enjoyed our stay. The Barn is beautiful and the setting is perfect – very relaxing, peaceful and a great place to take some time out and enjoy the local area. Highly recommended.

Brian Yendole

We really enjoyed our stay at Keepers Cottage. There is nothing not to like. The accommodation worked well for us and the newly refurbished bedrooms and re-configured bedrooms were an added bonus. The cottage and it’s garden are a delight to come back to after a day out in the wonderful Norfolk area. We will definitely be back.

Heather

Fantastic week in the Upper Wing. Comfortable and warm in the very cold weather. Good position for exploring the North Norfolk coast, yet quiet surroundings to return to after a day out.

Carol Brady

We booked Gresham Hall and apartments for a special family birthday celebration and it did not disappoint Both sets of accommodation was fabulous and while large and stately, the decor was also homely and comforting allowing us to relax while enjoying the splendour The venue had everything you could ask for and each room was well-equipped Communication with the hosts was great throughout and Edward very accommodating We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend here to anyone. Our only regret is that we were unable to stay longer and visit more of the surrounding area

Jamie Richardson

This was an absolute gem of a find. We stayed in the Manor House on Gresham Hall Estate in early December and it was an exceptional experience. The space is grande, the bedrooms and their en suites are well designed and comfortable and the huge drawing room is a great place to relax. Edward and the team also decorated the Hall modestly with a Christmas tree and lights around the entrance fire place. The surrounding countryside has plenty of walks and it is 10 minutes from the Coast. Gresham Hall delivered on everything we were looking for in a luxury country winter escape. See you next year.

Julie Clarke

We had a wonderful trip celebrating 2 family birthdays and an early Christmas. Gresham Hall is beautiful, fully equipped, perfect for the more and less abled members of the party and graciously hosted by Edward who made us feel very welcome and well looked after. I can’t recommend this venue highly enough and strongly urge you to try it. We will be back!

Alan Cunningham

We have just returned from a week in Gresham Hall. It is a perfect house for a large family. The location is great – close to the coast and the pretty market town of Holt. The house is very well furnished and equipped. It has 5 large double bedrooms, enough bathrooms and really good kitchen and living space. The gardens are beautiful and the hot tub was fun.

Sue Simpson

Keepers cottage is the perfect place to unwind. Tranquility at its best, what better than a fully fitted kitchen, log burner for those cool nights, beds that are so comfortable, you won’t want to get up, brilliant shower. And what a way to start your day sharing the grounds with, pheasants, partridge, red legged partridge, and deer, rabbits and hares. Secluded but we’ll with in reach of Sheringham,Cromer etc .

Gigi Tyler

Lovely apartment set in beautiful grounds. Welcome pack was really nice and apartment had everything we needed.

David Gamester

We stayed at Gresham Hall Estate in the main house from 1 April for 1 week. It is a beautiful house which is very well maintained with lovely countryside surrounding the property. There was plenty of hot water and heating. The rooms are very spacious and very comfortable. The host Edward is very helpful and always available to help with any issues. We had a wonderful week and would highly recommend.

Bev Sanford

Highly recommend Gresham Hall. We stayed in the main house, it is a very well maintained property with lots of original character with modern day comforts. Very spacious and plenty of room for all of us, the bedrooms were large and beds comfortable. They had everything we needed for our family get together including a hot tub to relax and unwind in. The kitchen really was the heart of the home in this house. Good value for money and the host Edward was really helpful and very accomodating. We will be booking again. Thank you Edward and Family

David Fuller

What a wonderful holiday home. Did not want to leave. If you want a get away and chill out this is the place to go. Location is down a dirt track just off the main road but far enough not to hear a thing. It is only five minute drive to Sheringham and not far from Cromer. Maybe one very small thing would be a little information about the area and some recommendations to meals out or takeaways for people to read. But with the web these can be found easily. Has all the home comforts you need in a holiday home. We were there in Feb so a little cold outside so didn’t get to take advantage of the courtyard but I can imagine this would be wonderful in the summer.

Would I use again, definitely a yes, in a heartbeat.

Alistair Smith

Ground Wing: Beautiful, tranquil location with high standard of accommodation. Family friendly and close to the coastal attractions. Excelent Covid precautions and general cleanliness. Lovely welcome pack of groceries on arrival.

Date of stay: August 2021

We stayed in apartment 2. It was very spacious for 2 adults and 2 kids. Everything was in excellent condition and very clean. Nothing missing like you find in some holiday rentals – plenty of loo roll, dishwasher tablets, etc. It’s a great base for exploring the area. We would definitely recommend.

Julia Chronias

We have just spent another fabulous week at Gresham Hall. The house and gardens are simply beautiful; a wonderful and tranquil place to switch off and enjoy some precious family time. With luxurious and thoughtfully organised amenities, there was plenty of space for us to come together or find a quiet spot to enjoy a little solitude. If you can bear to tear yourself away from this lovely place, there are beaches, nature reserves, historic towns and villages and stately homes within easy reach. We left refreshed, relaxed and rejuvenated and would wholeheartedly recommend a holiday here.

Sarah Moore

My family (including a baby and a puppy) stayed at Gresham Hall for a week in June 2021. The house is beautiful and is set in delightful & very spacious grounds. The accommodation is excellent – plenty of room for all of us, wonderfully furnished and equipped and very clean. We made full use of the garden, hot tub and tennis court. Edward was great at communicating with us prior to our arrival and shared lots of local information which was very useful. He also welcomed us on the day, which was lovely. I would highly recommend this property, which would be great at any time of year.

Trevor Purkiss

This is the second time we have visited Gresham Hall staying in the upper wing accommodation. Both occasions have been brilliant as it has been so quiet and weather fantastic. On arrival we were welcomed by Edward who made sure our accommodation was as we expected and left us with a welcome pack well stocked with essential items such as milk, bread, butter, jams, biscuits and crisps. All rooms are very clean , spacious and bright with the rooms at the back of the house overlooking beautiful countryside. We have already booked to come back again as we enjoy staying here in a very comfortable and relaxing place.

Megan Sandow

Wonderful visit to Gresham Hall. Fantastic facilities and well decorated inside. Had a great BBQ and enjoyed the hot tub. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Perfect base to explore Norfolk.

The Burke Family!

A wonderful stay in a beautiful house and garden. Everything was gorgeous and we appreciated all the small touches. It was just lovely and we could not recommend it more.

Richard Baptista

Gresham Hall is a beautiful grand building with large, high ceiling rooms with impressive fire places. It exudes Lord of the Manor finesse. Not only is it grand inside, but the views are beautiful too, with lovely gardens and landscape. The host, Edward has really set up the property perfectly – everything works from the heating to the wifi to the kitchen equipment. We regularly stay at English Country properties and this was the only one that was perfect with no reason to have to call the host. Highly recommended !!

Hall Cottage on the Gresham Hall Estate was a peaceful home for our long weekend trip to North Norfolk. It offered a great location to base our exploration of the Deep History coastline, with a variety of blue-flag beaches and many other attractions within a short drive away. There was plenty of space to spread out and relax, from the lounge with comfy seating and wood-burning fireplace, to its many large bedrooms with ample storage space. The kitchen was well-equipped, and along with the bathrooms, everything was very clean and tidy. Outside, the cottage has plenty of car parking, and a garden to the rear; great for little ones who need to run off some energy! A track runs past the home and round to a tennis court, a tree swing, and Gresham Hall itself. We look forward to being able to visit again, and maybe stay in one of the newly decorated wings!

David Bradley

Stayed in middle apartment. Amazing place to stay. Lovely furnishings and comfortable beds. Fabulous kitchen with everything you need to enjoy your meals. Lovely grounds to enjoy plus tennis courts if that’s your thing. Even had the pleasure of watching a small deer enjoying a stroll through the large gardens. Without doubt would recommend Gresham Hall as place to stay in Norfolk.

Rachael harwood

We loved staying at Field barn. Its set in such a peaceful and beautiful location, and the welcome flowers and food, and finishing touches made it a luxurious stay. Thank you Edward for a wonderful stay!

Laura Chrisostomou

We absolutely LOVED our stay at Gresham hall. Edward was incredibly helpful throughout the booking experience & was always on hand if we needed anything during our stay. The house has everything you could ever want, there’s plenty of space for bigger groups, you never feel like you’re on top of each other. Everyone has their own bathroom too. There’s lots of places to relax & read a book, but also lots of family areas to gather & enjoy time together. The views in pretty much every room of the property are idyllic, which also makes walks around the area very peaceful & serene. The utility room with washing machine & tumble dryer was very handy, as well as the ‘gin room’ – amazing! The house has been renovated to a very high standard, decor was beautiful – I could certainly move in here- it’s stunning! We very much enjoyed morning strolls around the estate and night time chill out in the hottub! – what more could you want! Thank you all for a lovely stay 🙂

Jonathan Segal

Beautiful, spacious and well equipped house in a lovely area by the North Norfolk coast. Great for families and those who enjoy walking and country pubs; house has its own tennis court and two living rooms fireplaces for colder evenings

Patricia Jones

We recently stayed at Gresham Hall with our family for a week. We absolutely loved the house, and everything about it. There are 5 lovely bedrooms all with their own bathrooms, so there was no argument about who got the ‘box’ room! The house is very well equipped, and has a lovely large kitchen table where we had most meals. It also has a really nice formal dining room, a perfect setting for our Murder Mystery night. We really enjoyed the hot tub early every evening, placed very well so that it catches the evening sun. There was plenty of garden space, were we could play badminton and croquet (taken by us) before lighting the BBQ. Overall a great house in a lovely quiet setting. We will book again!

Hema Bazzaz

We loved our stay at Gresham Hall Estate. The grounds are beautiful and we were blessed with great weather that allowed us to use the outdoor space including the Hot Tub, Barbeque and relax on the main lawn.

We loved the fruit trees surrounding the building and the tennis courts. The interior rooms were very spacious and beautifully decorated.

We were surprised and pleased to receive such a generous welcome pack or bread, butter, kettle chips, milk and locally sourced conserves to set us up with all of the essentials.

The only area that needs some attention was the shower and bathroom, although everything you need is available some of the paintwork and seals need some work to keep it within the same high standard as the rest of the house.

Overall a great stay and would revisit.

Susan Proudfoot

Gresham Hall is a beautiful property well situated surrounded by open countryside. Our family of ten plus dog spent a delightful week making it home. The house is so comfortable, tastefully furnished and equipped with everything we needed which definitely added to the enjoyment of our holiday. The children particularly enjoyed the hot tub, tennis courts and the freedom the space allowed. It is well situated with easy access to beaches and shops. After a day on the beach or a long walk it was so nice to retreat back to the peaceful tranquility of the countryside and all the amenities the house had to offer. We would highly recommend the Hall and will definitely return. Thank you Edward.

Carol Ann Hunt

We enjoyed a wonderful week in the Ground Wing apartment at Gresham Hall Estate. Perfect location for visiting the North Norfolk coast, especially the wonderful seal colony at Blakeney Point. The Ground Wing was spacious, well-equipped and very tastefully decorated with some lovely finishing touches including a welcome hamper on arrival. A friendly local pub is in striking distance if you fancy eating out. Although not quite secluded, we still made the most of the hot tub on numerous occasions, spending most evenings enjoying a relaxing soak under the stars. During our early evening walks around the estate we were fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of two deer among the trees and made friends with a baby hedge hog out on the lawn. We would highly recommend the Ground Wing for any couple looking for a relaxing break in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Regards, Richard and Carol

Joseph Jones

Really beautiful house and grounds in a great part of the country. Was the perfect place for a lovely weekend away with friends.

Kate Hardy

Gresham Hall is a truly delightful place to stay and surpassed our expectations. In renovating this family home they have retained many of its original Edwardian features and charms – fireplaces, a wide, open staircase and wooden panels (look out for the bat motifs) – and they have combined them with modern kitchen and bathroom facilities. The house is spacious, warm and well-equipped.

There were eight adults and two toddlers in our party and there was more than enough room. It was fantastic to eat our meals in the kitchen/diner that opened onto vistas of green fields, a variety of trees and a distant ridge – with pheasants and rabbits frequent visitors to the garden. The house manager and the owner could not have been more pleasant and helpful and even offered to send back some items I left there. I am a veteran renter of holiday homes and this house would be at the top of my list.

We can't wait to go back!

Linda Joynes

An exceptional house, beautifully furnished, very spacious and extremely comfortable. Our party of 7 all enjoyed the house, gardens and local facilities, and we would all highly recommend Gresham Hall. Great showers, lovely fluffy towels, comfy beds, spotlessly clean and stunning views at sunrise and sunset across the fields and woodland areas. A great venue to suit all ages, definitely will return as it is somewhere very special.

Anna Rosemary

I stayed in Gresham Hall with 8 friends and have only positive things to say! We all had a fantastic stay – the Hall exceeded expectations, everything looked brand new and was in pristine condition and the beds where some of the comfiest we’d all slept on! The hot tub was an added perk for us and we were grateful it was already heated and ready to go when we got there. I left behind a metal lantern and Edward kindly agreed to post it back to me – a great example of them going above and beyond for customers. Already planning another visit!

Kirstie Milnthorpe

We recently stayed at Gresham Hall for my 30th Birthday, 9 adults, 1 toddler and 3 dogs! The accommodation is beautiful and there was plenty of room for all of us. Edward was so helpful and was there to greet us when we arrived. He arranged a yoga instructor for us and a huge lasagne made by a local caterer was perfect for us to have on our murder mystery evening. The estate is in a great location for beaches, woodland walks and pretty towns. We'll definitely be staying again!

Jodie Richardson

I recently stayed at Gresham Hall for a long weekend to celebrate my 40th and my sisters 30th. Everything was just perfect and we all enjoyed every minute of our stay. We, as a group go away every year for a long weekend and we all said that Gresham hall has been the best house so far. All the rooms have been done to such a high standard. The beds were so comfortable, the linen was so soft and the bathrooms were amazing. Having the Aga in the kitchen was great, it really made that room so cosy, and the jacket potatoes tasted amazing!! The hot tub was lovely, maybe the cover could be put round the other way so when you're in the tub you have views over the field. That would be the only fault I can say about our stay. The lovely welcome pack was a nice treat. Wine, bread, cake and croissants were all there. Coffee machine with coffee pods for us to use. Edward was very accommodating and pleasant and was there to welcome us with his little dog Slipper!! Can honesty say that we will definitely be returning to Gresham Hall for another relaxing girly weekend away!

Simon Winfield

We had a fantastic break at Gresham Hall with 9 Family members and 2 dogs! The Hall is amazing so much space all the rooms are large and spacious furnishings fantastic and the area is lovely and quiet whilst being a 10 minute drive to Sheringham. The Hot Tub is a lovely addition and I would highly recommend a stay at the Hall we were well looked after through booking and our stay and we will definitely return in the future

Rich Wallace

Had an amazing 5 day stay at Gresham Hall, beautiful, quiet location with nearby, top notch National Trust properties, gorgeous beaches and good restaurants. I Wish Edward and Georgie all the success in the world with Gresham Hall and will defiantly be back for another stay!!
