Gather the people who matter most for a weekend you'll remember for years. Exclusive use of a private estate with accommodation for up to 30 guests,

Some occasions deserve more than a holiday cottage.

The Comb is a private country estate created for bringing people together. Whether you are celebrating a milestone birthday, marking a special anniversary, gathering three generations of family, reuniting old friends or hosting a private celebration weekend, The Comb provides the space, atmosphere and exclusivity to make it memorable.

Set within almost 60 acres of its own grounds in the heart of Northumberland National Park. The Comb has 10 bedrooms, all en-suite sleeping 20. Large social spaces, generous dining areas, comfortable lounges and extensive outdoor areas allow groups to spend time together while still providing room to relax. The Comb Farmhouse is located nearby and is available for separate hire with 5 bedrooms sleeping 10. Both can be hired to give exclusive use of the estate and a combined sleeping capacity of 30 guests.

Outside, guests can enjoy fire pits, lawns, woodland walks and panoramic views across one of England’s most remote and beautiful landscapes. As darkness falls, the estate becomes part of the internationally recognised Northumberland Dark Skies Park, offering extraordinary opportunities for stargazing and evenings beneath some of Europe’s darkest skies.

For larger celebrations the estate also has the Dark Skies Barn available for hire. This impressive event space includes a licensed rustic bar, stage, dance floor and striking mural, creating a unique setting for celebration dinners, private parties, live music, family events, presentations and evening entertainment. Few private estates offer a dedicated event space of this scale exclusively for guests.

The Comb is not simply somewhere to stay. It is a place to celebrate, reconnect and create lasting memories together.

Location and Things to Do

The Comb sits within Northumberland National Park, close to Kielder Forest, Kielder Water and the Scottish Border, surrounded by some of the most beautiful and unspoilt countryside in England.

The estate is ideally placed for family gatherings and group celebrations, with opportunities for walking, cycling, wildlife watching, water sports, heritage exploration and stargazing. Guests can explore Kielder Water and Forest Park, visit Hadrian’s Wall, discover Northumberland’s castles and historic market towns, or simply enjoy the peace and privacy of the estate itself.

For those seeking memorable shared experiences, the surrounding area offers scenic walks, cycling routes, clay-pigeon shooting, canoeing, fishing, birdwatching and some of the finest dark sky experiences in the UK.

Newcastle International Airport is the nearest airport, while rail connections are available through Newcastle, Morpeth and Hexham. Despite its wonderfully remote setting, The Comb is readily accessible from across the UK.

Edmund's Choice of Extraordinary Feature

“The whole of this gem of an estate is pretty special, but the Dark Skies Balcony is hard to beat. Most of our houses on LH have great views, but the Comb really does offer a bit of… actual Space…”

Wonderful place for a family birthday celebration – large, well decorated, relaxing sapces, well equipped, everyone had a bathroom, and there was a table to seat all 28 of us – brilliant. Room for a familiy ceilidh in the bar – and a bar (BYOB of course)! We did yoga/pilates in the snug – good for wee ones to chill too.

Easy to get in, great directions, single track road for a while – didnt phase us but might others. What took time was figuring out where all the bedrooms were, so where everyone was to go, the place is huge.

Wonderful court yard with flowering cherry – in bloom for us – lovely out of the wind. There were a few hiccups in communication before we got there, but was great responsiveness when we got there for any minor queries. Several satellites and shooting stars, not quite dark enough to see Andromeda, but it was May and not yet midnight and quite a few clouds around. Lots of space for running around outside and football goals for the wee ones.

Very relaxing indeed, can thoroughly recommend for a family group or wedding – although we did not see inside the wedding barn – but had taken the farmhouse too – even more relaxing than the Comb itself.

We were a large family group of 20 adults & 3 children who stayed here for three nights to celebrate a 60th Birthday. House was very spacious and accommodated us all easily. Was so special to have the large social spaces where we could all eat around the table and all sit together in the evenings to socialise. Was great that all bedrooms were ensuite. Beds were comfy and it was so quiet and peaceful. We were able to cook for us all with ease. Having the caterer in on the saturday night was a big bonus and worked really well. We would definitely return for another large family holiday.
