Stay at Symondsbury Manor for New Year's Eve ~ 3 nights for £4,500. Guests will also receive a free case of champagne to enjoy the celebrations with!

Symondsbury Manor is a country house near Bridport of doughty 17th century stone, scrambled with roses, dormer windows nosing from a slope of weathered tile. It has 11 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms and sleeps up to 22 guests. A perfect place for a holiday with family or friends, or for special celebrations. Of the eleven bedrooms, one is on the ground-floor, off the kitchen, and is suitable for guests who would prefer not to use too many stairs.

Two of the attic bedrooms are suitable for guests with a young family; the bedrooms are inter-connected and share a large bathroom. The reception rooms are large and relaxed, and include a sixty-foot long open-plan living room. There is also a huge country-style kitchen, and the sort of massive Aga that inspires immediate Mary Berry fantasies. Every room is uniquely decorated.

There is a fabulous 18th century ballroom with carved panelling, which can be used for a number of things (not just the cha-cha!). It is a great flexible space and has a table tennis table, excellent for encouraging teenagers off the sofa, and a piano, excellent for bringing out repressed aunts. The gardens at Symondsbury are wonderful with a croquet lawn and colourful flower beds and mature trees.

Location and Things to Do

Located in the heart of a quaint village, Symondsbury Manor is just a mile from West Bay and the renowned Jurassic Coast. The village itself is only a mile from Bridport, a charming market town famous for its street market. The nearby coastline offers a range of water sports, sea fishing, and diving, while land-based activities include an art centre, art galleries and the Electric Palace cinema.

With train stations in Dorchester, Axminster, and Crewkerne, the manor is easily accessible for guests travelling from London or the surrounding areas.

Weddings

Symondsbury Manor is perfect for small, intimate weddings, with only a few select dates available each year. The venue can accommodate up to 40 guests, making it ideal for a more personal celebration. Its 17th-century charm and picturesque setting offer a unique atmosphere for a memorable wedding experience.

As a group of 12 friends, we found Symondsbury Manor to be the perfect home to relax and socialise in.

The house and the gardens are beautiful, and it’s perfectly situated between the coast and countryside.

The booking process and communication with Maisy and Peter throughout was impeccable and they were so kind and thoughtful both before and during our stay.

We had a really happy weekend, and hope to return soon.

Symondsbury Manor was the perfect place for the whole family (22 of us) to get together to celebrate my Dad’s 60th! The house itself was lovely – a gorgeous property with large bedrooms and super comfy beds. There’s enough sofas for everyone to lounge comfortably and the kitchen is fully stocked to accommodate for the large number of guests. There’s also a lovely farm shop and pub just around the corner which was a really nice touch and added to the experience. Maisy was great at getting back to me quickly with any questions I had – a great weekend, would really recommend!

Fantastic house, great decoration, fantastic communication with the staff. Very helpful and flexible. Can’t recommend enough.

Michael Short

Great space, little quirks on the hot water and shower system but nothing to spoil the beautiful place and environment!

Nice restaurant/ cafe not far from Golden Cap

A beautiful house in stunning gardens. A family get together of 14 adults and 4 children easily accommodated with the 10 bedroomed property. Kitchen extremely well equipped with a range of cutlery, pots and pans to cater for our group. Comfortable rooms/beds. Large lounge/diner, sufficient space and seating. Good communication throughout the process.

After a group of us spent 3 nights at Symondsbury Manor it’s fair to say we had the best weekend away especially since the pandemic hit. Angela and Peter were extremely welcoming and made the booking process very easy, as well as the fact that they helped us settle into the manor as soon as we got there.

The garden was amazing and scenic as we sat outside each day to have a few drinks and play a bit of football in the sunshine. We also made use of the big bbq which was great!

All the rooms were very comfy and cosy and the kitchen gave us everything we needed in order to cook large meals for us all staying there. Finally, we had great fun using the table tennis and football table which was located in a large room that kept us occupied for much of the evenings.

Overall I would highly recommended Symondsbury Manor if you’re looking for a relaxing weekend away with friends or a fun few days away with family. Thank you again Angela and Peter!

We hired Symondsbury Manor for my 50th birthday, invited 20 friends and had so much fun. Funky place, great ball room and huge dining table, outdoors is lovely and the village, local pub, estate shops are glorious and blissful walks, highly recommend Hungry Mule catering too!

Sam Burden

Beautiful house with lots of character. Bathroom and showers were the main disappointment in this house. The carpet and furnishings were a little worn but in a homely way. A few of the rooms were right next to the kitchen or living room, making them a little awkward to stay in unless everyone has the same bedtime or you’re hard of hearing.

mark s

Amazing house, each room different from the next full of charm and warmth, great garden and close to local pub. A short walk from Bridport centre. Which is full of pubs bars and great places to eat.

WARREN ROGERS

Stayed in January with 10 people and had a fantastic time. The house is beautiful and located in a lovely little village within close proximity of the Jurassic Coast. The layout of the house is quite quirky but done very well and has more than enough utensils in the kitchen to make you feel like you are at home. If you enjoy time with friends in good surrounding it doesn’t get much better than this..

Adam Pike

We all had an absolutely wonderful time at the manor – thanks very much for letting us use it. Everyone remarked on how nice the house was, as well as the convenience of the Symondsbury Kitchen next door for breakfast. I know several of the group have said that they would like to book the venue for future family events

Angela

We had a wonderful time, thank you! We have stayed at many similar properties of varying sizes over the last few years as part of our annual retreat, but many of our party said that Symondsbury was definitely the favourite. We were all impressed by the friendliness and the welcoming atmosphere. As well as the really interesting inside and gardens, which were great for us photographically. The main living and socialising area was really large, and surprisingly more than adequate for our group. The added bonus of the ballroom meant we could do things like set up light to practice flash photography during a very excitable ping pong game :).I am very sure we will be back with you again in a year or two.
