Upwey House is a beautiful 17th Century Victorian manor house that has been carefully designed for modern comfort and has 6,000 square feet of living space. The property has nine different bedrooms, accommodating up to 24 people in total. The furniture and decor in each room have been carefully chosen to combine old-fashioned charm with modern comfort.

There are four updated bathrooms on the first floor, as well as a bedroom and two WCs on the ground floor, making it accessible for guests with mobility needs. The inside has been carefully planned with extensive space for fun and relaxation, such as a spacious and light Drawing Room with open fire, a playroom great for younger kids with a football table and Wii, and a warm library/snug with a wood-burning stove, TV and multiple books to browse. There is also a beautiful snooker room with a good burner for chillier evenings.

The open-plan kitchen and dining room, which can seat 24 people, is fabulous for group meals and opens up to the patio and gardens. The kitchen designed by Tom Howley, has professional-grade appliances and lots of space for preparing food, making it great for both self-catering and hiring in a professional chef if you really want to be treated.

The property has a stream, woodland, a walled garden, paddocks, and extensive lawns as outdoor spaces. It sits within 23 acres of private land. Eating and entertaining outside when the weather is kind has recently been enhanced due to the new outdoor kitchen and bar with a grill and a wood-fired oven. The gazebo and a sun terrace are wonderful places to unwind with a cup of tea or something stronger. A hot tub can be hired in on the terrace if desired.

There is a table tennis table on the terrace for those competitive with a bat and ball and plenty of space on the extensive lawns for badminton, volleyball, croquet or a game of cricket or football.

Upwey House was initially sited at the bottom of the hill on Church Street and was moved to where it is now, on top of the hill, to provide the Lord of the Manor a country retreat.

Edmund's Favourite Feature

“Upwey house is a truly charming place to stay, but my favourite part would have to be the snooker room! It’s perfect for both adults and children a-like to have fun even if the weather is blustery outside”

We got married here in June 2025. It was an absolutely beautiful venue which was perfect for our wedding. The rooms and facilities are comfortable and characterful. Kerry & Sarah-Jayne were so friendly and helpful throughout the planning process, nothing was too much trouble! We’d highly recommend this as a wedding venue, it’s a stunning place.
