Upwey House is a beautiful Victorian manor house from the 1830s that has been carefully designed for modern comfort and has 6,000 square feet of living space. The property has nine different bedrooms, holding up to 24 people. The furniture and decor in each room were carefully chosen to combine old-fashioned charm with modern comfort.
There are four updated bathrooms on the first floor, as well as a bedroom and two WCs on the ground floor, making it possible for people with different mobility needs to stay there. The inside has been carefully planned to have many places for fun and relaxation, such as a Drawing Room, a playroom just for kids, and a warm library/snug with a wood-burning stove. There is also a snooker room.
The open-plan kitchen and dining room, which can seat 24 people, is great for group meals because it opens up to the patio and gardens. The kitchen designed by Tom Howley has professional-grade appliances and lots of space for preparing food, making it great for both self-catering and hiring a professional chef.
The property has a stream, a walled garden, paddocks, and big lawns as outdoor spaces. It is on 23 acres of private land. Eating outside is fun now that we have a new outdoor kitchen with a grill and a wood-fired oven. A gazebo and a sun terrace are great places to unwind.
Location and Things to Do
Upwey House is located between Weymouth and Dorchester, offering a perfect base for outdoor enthusiasts. The area is ideal for walking, water sports, cycling, and enjoying breathtaking views of the Jurassic coastline. Explore the charming local pubs and eateries, as well as wine-tasting and artisan shopping.
A short walk from the house leads you to Upwey Wishing Well, historically known for its healing powers. The surrounding 23 acres of private land include a stream, walled garden, paddocks, a sun terrace, a gazebo, and expansive lawns. Guests can also enjoy the newly built outdoor kitchen area with a gas barbecue, wood-fired oven, fridge, and bar area.

House Fact
Upwey House was initially sited at the bottom of the hill on Church Street and was moved to where it is now, on top of the hill, to provide the Lord of the Manor a country retreat.
Edmund's Choice of Extraordinary Feature
“Upwey house is a truly charming place to stay, but my favourite part would have to be the snooker room! It’s perfect for both adults and children a-like to have fun even if the weather is blustery outside”

We got married here in June 2025. It was an absolutely beautiful venue which was perfect for our wedding. The rooms and facilities are comfortable and characterful. Kerry & Sarah-Jayne were so friendly and helpful throughout the planning process, nothing was too much trouble! We’d highly recommend this as a wedding venue, it’s a stunning place.

We recently provided a Selfie Pod Photo Booth for a wedding here. What a cracking venue for a party, and on a nice day as this was, it’s a great place to be outside. Would recommend to future Brides and Grooms
