Upper Court

Upper Court is a beautiful, honey-coloured house in the Cotswolds, surrounded by golden parkland. It has very flexible accommodation, and suits both large and small parties of friends and family. The family who own the house, the Herfords, live in a different wing, and have been welcoming guests for over forty years.

The primary offering is the Coach House Cottage and the Courtyard Cottage, which are joined by an archway across a courtyard. Together these sleep 25 guests. The setup is great for family groups, hen parties, and team-building weekends, and has an art studio, offering pottery and print-making experiences.

If your group requires additional space, there is the Manor House (bedrooms only) and the Dovecote Cottage.

Coach House Cottage – sleeps 17

Coach House Cottage has 7 bedrooms, and 7 bathrooms, one of which is on the ground floor with an adjoining wet room. Downstairs, there’s a comfortable kitchen and then a large open-plan room with sofas and a long dining table (seating up to 24).

Courtyard Cottage – sleeps 8

The Courtyard Cottage has three bedrooms, and sleeps up to eight people. Two of the bedrooms can be doubles or singles, and each has either a shower room or a bathroom. In the former hayloft, there is a family room, sleeping four people in four single beds. There is a kitchen (that allows catering for up to 14 guests), and a dining room that sits eight (or fourteen, if another table is set up).

The Manor House – sleeps 8

There are 4 rooms in the manor house itself, all en-suite and beautifully presented. Four of the beds are four-posters, and the fifth is a twin. Guests are welcome to have breakfast in the manor house’s dining room. Two of the rooms can be inter-connected, to make a family suite.

There is a full-sized billiards table available to book, should any knife-edge snooker competitions be raged over a weekend.

Dovecote Cottage – sleeps 4

The Dovecote has a four-poster bed, then an attic bedroom with a single and pull-out bed. The bathroom is also in the attic, separated from the beds by a curtain. Downstairs, there’s a living room and galley kitchen.

Dining and Banqueting Space

If your party is too large to be accommodated in the Coach House, there is the Gallery Function Room, which can be set up to seat 40.

Outside Space

The house and cottages are set within 15 acres of grounds, and there’s plenty to do. There’s a heated swimming pool, all-weather tennis court, ping-pong table, garden games and children’s play area. There are several quiet terraces, a fire pit and a lake upon which to float.

A hot tub is available to hire for an additional cost.

About the Location

Upper Court is in the Cotswold village of Kemerton. It’s about 5 miles from the market town of Tewkesbury, and 8 miles from Cheltenham. It’s 3 miles off the M5, and the nearest mainline train station is in Ashbury, just outside Tewkesbury (about 7 minutes’ taxi ride).

Things To Do

The house itself offers plenty of diversions, not least pottery and print-making experiences. The pub is within easy walking distance, or you can hire bikes from the house.

Small, intimate weddings are very welcome at Upper Court.
