Pamflete House is set in the Flete Estate, in the South Hams of Devon. This is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the estate covers 5000 acres of softly rolling farmland and broad-leaf woodlands, which sweep down to the river Erme. Countless children have enjoyed scampering about on the wide, sandy estuary, or running and riding along the estate drives between the various cottages.
Pamflete has been completely refurbished to provide extremely comfortable accommodation for 18 people in 9 bedrooms, with 7 bath/shower rooms (a further 8 cottages on the Flete Estate can accommodate up to 55 more people). Pamflete has a huge drying room to deal with wet swimming towels and coats or wellies from wet walks on Dartmoor and the estate drives, and up to two well-behaved non-sofa-jumping dogs are welcome.
Pamflete is the perfect house for big family and friends reunions and celebrations, hosting all ages, and larger groups can also take the Bosun’s cottage which is nearby. There are table tennis and pool tables and plenty of board games in the house, croquet and a club-size tennis court outside, and the beach is a five minute walk away.
Edmund’s Choice of Extraordinary Feature
“Pamflete and the Flete Estate has pretty much has everything I’d ever want for a big family hols, and its location really makes it. The most appealing part of the Estate for me is a bit of a secret – the restored Victorian beach house on Mothercombe Bay. I can think of nothing better than messing about in the sea, then eating buttered crumpets toasted on the beach house’s fire. Very British!”
About The Location
Salcombe is 40 minutes drive, and there are golf courses at Bigbury, Thurlestone and St Mellion, to name a few. Dartmoor is a 20 minute drive away, and we can advise on walks.
Things To Do
The river and sea in Mothecombe bay are perfect for swimming, sailing, kayaking, windsurfing and paddle boarding. The house has all the kit you’ll need. Fishing for bass, mullet, mackerel, trout and sea trout can be arranged.
Several local shoots take paying guns, and Pamflete has a gun safe. There is a riding stables at Newton Ferrars 15 minutes drive away, and they will take rides on the beach.
Marquees are welcomed at Pamflete House, and Lesley will help you plan your perfect day. A marquee for up to 120 guests fits comfortably on the lawns.
