Hallsannery House

Hallsannery House is a beautiful late Georgian/ early Victorian listed manor house set in five acres of parkland, woods and gardens and is a fantastic base for exploring the delights of unspoilt North Devon.

The Estate comfortably accommodates up to 38 guests with the addition of the Coach House located behind the main house.

The house has 11 bedrooms to sleep up to 22 guests (plus 4 – 6 children), all with en-suites and most with stunning views of the countryside. One bedroom is on the ground floor with its own wet room, if you’d prefer to avoid the stairs. 

On the ground floor, there are three bright and spacious reception rooms, including two sitting rooms housing plush sofas, smart TVs, a log burner and games plus a library complete with a pool table and toys if needed.

There’s a large farmhouse kitchen, with towering original dresser, electric range and the most convivial of kitchen tables – fit for a hungry crowd of 16… or more and also an impressive chandeliered dining room that can seat up to 72 guests for large celebrations or more formal house party dining. 

The house also has an outside covered games area with table tennis and a pool table.

The Coach House

The adjacent Coach House sleeps a further 8/9 guests and has 4 bedrooms including two double/twin rooms (one with a shared bathroom), one downstairs superking room with a wet room and a single room with a shared bathroom. It also has a kitchen, a lounge with a log burner and a private courtyard. The Coach House is only rented out in conjunction with the main house.

Hallsannery House offers catering for as much, or as little, of your stay as you’d like. This can include drop off meals, stocking the larder, or breakfast/brunch and a three-course dinner with canapes and coffee.

Self-catered stays are also an option with well-equipped kitchens and facilities.

About the location

Hallsannery House is just over a mile from the shops, cafes and eateries of Bideford. Also, Instow’s and Westward Ho’s sandy beaches are an easy 15-minute drive away which are ideal for swimming, surfing or climbing the dunes. If biking and walking are more your style, there are plenty of trails to explore the countryside.

Things to do

The house has lots of outdoor space for activities to keep everyone entertained, including a treetop swing, a bamboo maze, a three-acre ‘off the lead’ fenced field for exercising your dog and a tennis court. There’s also a barbeque, a fire pit (to toast marshmallows), and a terrace for evening drinks. You can also hire a hot tub at cost – just ask if this is of interest.

Weddings

Hallsannery house is fully licensed and equipped for weddings. There’s a choice of ceremony locations, including the outside Portico, or there are several churches in the house’s vicinity.

There’s also dining space for up to 72 guests or the option of a marquee on the grounds for larger celebrations and oodles of space for evening entertainment, music and dancing. The house also has a list of tried and tested suppliers including catering, florists and bars to help on the special day.
