About Hallsannery House

From the sweeping driveway leading to Hallsannery House, to the beautiful Hall which leads you inside, Hallsannery exudes the warmest of impressive welcomes. With 11 gorgeous ensuite bedrooms (most with stunning views, all with a touch of Hallsannery ‘quirky’ and including a ground floor accessible bedroom with wet room), three bright and spacious reception rooms (housing a log burner, piano, pool table, smart TVs, toys, games and books), an impressive chandeliered dining room, farmhouse kitchen and scullery, indoor and outdoor games rooms and a tennis court, the house and grounds offer plenty of spaces to enjoy and entertain – inside and out.

Set in over five acres of parkland, woods, garden and lawns (including a three-acre ‘off the lead’ fenced field for exercising dogs, treetop swing and even a bamboo maze for smaller folk!), and with the option of taking the adjacent Coach House if required, the Estate comfortably accommodates up to 38 guests.

Hallsannery House sleeps 22 people plus a bunk bed and sofa bed. The Coach House sleeps 8 guests and there’s the option of a further 6 guests in additional Z beds for a small additional cost.

The splendid main house dining room can seat up to 72 guests for larger celebrations and is the perfect backdrop for more formal house party dining. The farmhouse kitchen, meanwhile, is often dubbed the ‘hub of the house’ with its towering original dresser, large electric range and the most convivial of kitchen tables – fit for a hungry crowd of 16… or more.

If required, recommended caterers will cater for as much, or as little, of your stay as you wish – from drop off meals, to stocking the larder, from breakfast to brunch to a three-course dinner with canapes and coffee, our local professionals use local suppliers (including ice cream made with milk from the cows you can watch grazing across the river!) to make your time with us even more straightforward… and special. Self-catered stays are also very possible – enjoy the space and facilities provided by the well-equipped kitchens to rustle up your own friends and family feasts.

Hallsannery sits just over a convenient mile from the shops, cafes and eateries of ‘the little white town’ of Bideford. With Westward Ho! and Instow’s sandy beaches an easy 15-minute drive away (ideal for swimming, surfing or climbing the dunes), the famous Tarka Trail providing car-free biking, running and accessible walking around a mile from the house and with the endless walking opportunities and beauty of the Southwest Coastal path less than five miles distant, Hallsannery is a fantastic base for exploring the delights of unspoilt North Devon.

Younger guests will enjoy the excitements of The Milky Way or The Big Sheep adventure parks, whilst adrenalin seekers will thrill at the aerial adventures on offer at the Ultimate High, the aquatic opportunities at the North Devon Wakepark (the inflatable obstacle course is a particular hit!) and action-packed adventure days at Skern Lodge. For calmer pursuits, discover the flora and fauna delights of RHS Rosemoor, enjoy the historic and landscaped backdrop of Hartland Abbey, linger over a coffee on the quayside in the fishing village of Appledore or take in a round of golf at England’s oldest (and arguably most scenic) golf course at the Royal North Devon.

After the excitements of the day, return to Hallsannery and your oasis of calm. Light the barbeque, toast marshmallows on the fire pit, drink in the views on the terrace as you enjoy a G&T. Before heading up the spiral staircase, to your sumptuous bed.

Hot tubs can be hired in at cost – just ask if this is of interest.

Hallsannery House is also fully licensed and equipped for weddings. With a choice of beautiful ceremony locations (including the outside Portico if the weather plays ball), a number of churches in the vicinity, dining space for up to 72 guests or the option of a marquee in the grounds for larger celebrations and oodles of space for evening entertainment, music and dancing, holding your wedding at Hallsannery means having your wedding – your way.

Take your pick from our tried and tested suppliers including fabulous caterers, florists and bars, all of whom will go the extra mile to ensure that your exclusive use ‘wedding weekend’ (3 nights or longer, to include all on-site accommodation and facilities if required) goes without a hitch. With the added bonus of no corkage charges, a Hallsannery wedding really can be the wedding of your dreams.
