We had a great weekend with friends and family for our anniversary. The house is lovely and well equipped for a large group. The gardens and grounds were perfect for dogs and little ones to run around and they were nicely tired out at the end of each day. We will definitely be back next time we have a family celebration.

I wanted to leave an honest review of my stay from my own personal experience.Upon arrival me and my sister were blown away. The views are idyllic & serene. During the first evening I took myself to the front and watched the sunset, its the perfect location for this and watched it 3 days in a row. There's also lots if sheep to watch if you're a bit of a nature lover like me. Perfect location and I give that 5 stars.Upon going around the rather large house, I did notice the house was very "worn". It does need a face lift, just some TLC and I understand times are hard and a house that size a lick of paint as some people have suggested, wouldn't be a cheap fix. It does need some money thrown at it to bring some spark to the place. The pool table had no pockets in which I found odd so they would fall out when you potted the balls. Is that normal I'm not sure!Taps in certain rooms just didn't work.Sadly the reason I've given 3 stars is due to our room. The beds were incredibly uncomfortable. We had a double and two singles in our room. I had the double my sister the single. Her single bed she said was very springy and dug into her back where as mine was like sleeping on a plank of wood and did cause me to have backache over the weekend. I didn't complain to the hosts about this as I didn't want to add to their stress as they had faced quite a few issues from their guests. Then the main issue for us was the shower. It did not work. No matter how much we tried it just wouldn't come on. I even had another family member look at it and they offered for us to use theirs. We also experienced a consistent lack of warm water, it ran cold so much we gave up and didn't have hot water all weekend. For me I have two showers a day so not being able to adequately clean the whole weekend was quite a stress but again, due to other issues bring brought to the hosts attention we didn't want to add stress to their weekend so me and my sister went about an old fashioned body wash in a morning and lots of deodorant haha!Had we not have had issues with the shower and beds I'd likely give 4 stars. I didn't mind that the house wasn't a 5 star hotel because the costs I found were reasonable but we didn't face same issues that others did. But I wanted to leave a review based off my own experience. I do leave reviews when I stay somewhere so not acting any different to how I usually would.I think some money on plumbing is an absolute must as several people had issues with washing facilities and this is the basic needs of any guest staying somewhere for a long weekend. As for giving the place some life, yes it does need re painting, and other things within the property. But urgently does need the plumbing sorting.Other than the washing facilities being a pain me and my sister had the best weekend & enjoyed spending time with family and friends. It is a shame some people experienced a lot more issues and a shame several people got into a heated disagreement. Maybe a lesson learnt to everyone to listen contently and take on board other people's words and take care in how you respond. It's never OK to use offensive words to someone and raise voices. I'm just glad I managed to stay clear of any drama and this is an honest review of someone who did enjoy their stay but please. Sort the plumbing out :)P.s There is a beautiful place near this house that me and my sister visited. Beautiful and part of the national trust called "Kinver Edge and Rock Houses". Definitely worth a visit we had such a lovely time there. I've added the photos :)

We had an amazing time at Somerford for a friend’s birthday. The venue is just perfect for large gatherings with oodles of space. Being such a such an old property there is loads of character and quirkiness, but with modern, large kitchens providing everything you need, the facilities were fantastic. We had such an amazing time, thank you to Lorraine and her team, we’ll be back!

Stunning venue and exceptional service and support from the team there. Nothing was too much trouble and they couldn't have been more accommodating and lovely. We've booked similar places before, but this place stands out. It's super special and we'd highly recommend it. Thank you Somerford for helping us make such wonderful memories!

Wonderful old house. ❤️. Stayed here for 3 nights in Feb 2024. Its quite unlike other hotels because its not really a hotel. Its just a wonderful old house that you can rent out in its entirety.Don't go expecting luxury hotel... its very much an old country manor. The house is a bit old fashioned but that's what makes it special. In fact...i wish it were even more old fashioned! (Bathrooms a bit too modern)Perfect for a wedding or family party or reunion of old friends.Stunning views over old farm land. Grand spacious reception rooms. Professional standard kitchen with two range ovens and 3 huge fridges.

We recently hosted a 26 man stag at Somerford and had a brilliant time. I cannot thank the team enough for hosting us so well. The house was perfect, with plenty of space and great rooms. The outside space was ideal, and the team had even created a new cricket pitch for us on the front lawn. I should also mention the staff who put on the BBQ, the food was delicious!Chloe (house manager) was amazing and so warm and helpful. Lorraine (managing director) was unbelievably patient and helpful with all of our questions/requests too.I would highly recommend Somerford! Thanks again!

Fantastic venue! Just had a gorgeous weekend away with friends and we're also looking for a place big enough to host 40+ people for a family party next year. This is perfect. Clean. Big bedrooms and family rooms for parents with young kids. Brand new kitchen with enough storage and cooking facilities for all of us. Lovely grounds. Bluebell woods in May, rhododendrons in a few weeks. Fire pits, BBQs, lawn games including mini football goals. Ballroom, dining room, library, longe, games room, TV room. Just lovely ❤

What a lovely venue for a wedding. Large room for the reception and lots of nooks and crannies for guests to sit and chat in afterwards...and the beer is reasonable:)

Lovely place where we were invited to a wedding, brilliant staff, lovely venue and lovely food. The wedding went very smoothly and the catering and bar staff were excellent delivering a high quality service. The grounds were massive so no problem with guest seating, a large room was ready in case it rained, luckily the weather was kind to us. A beautiful place if you want a grand venue.

Absolutely beautiful venue for a wedding. The grounds were picturesque, the venue is exclusive hire so you know your guests can explore in peace. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. The on site rooms were spacious and provided toiletries and towels. There were tea amd coffee facilities as well as water and biscuits. Whilst we didn't watch much tv there were only a handful of channels available. There is on site parking to the right of the main gate and guests were also permitted to park on the field for the ceremony. There were a choice of rooms for the ceremony depending on your party size including indoor and out. We has a lovely visit for a beautiful wedding.

I really don't know where to start with how absolutely fantastic this venue is. Phillipa Megan Amy and all the other staff go over and above whatever you would expect of anyone to ensure that your experience is totally perfect. All the staff went out of their way to make our daughter Katy and her new husband Dans, wedding the most perfect day and evening. Nothing was too much trouble. If you want the perfect venue for a wedding I promise you will not be disappointed. Thank you thank you to all the staff. It really was the most beautiful place and day. The rooms are gorgeous including the bedrooms. As someone said to me...it like having a house party with staff! ! You have the run of all the rooms. Thank you to all the team youade out day perfect

Had an overnight stay here. Room was huge with a huge en suite. It was like staying in Downton Abbey without the maids. Breakfast was a little spare but the staff were lovely, friendly and efficient. Would recommend.

A lovely property and grounds. Perfect to host a large family gathering! The property is old and does need some tlc in areas, but this however did not affect our stay. I would like to also express thanks to Lorraine and Chloe for their excellent customer service and help. Thank you!
