Tone Dale House

Tone Dale House was built next to a mill, and has been renovated to be a fabulous party house. It’s perfect for groups of family and friends.

The house sleeps up to either 31 or 21 guests, depending on whether you might like to use the Stables (the prices shown are for up to 31 guests). The Stables are never let separately to the main house, as they are designed as a guest wing, rather than stand-alone accommodation.

There are 11 bedrooms in the main house, one of which is a triple, and ideal for families or older children. There are seven bedrooms on the first floor, four of which are en-suite, with three sharing further bathrooms. There are three bedrooms on the second floor, one of which is a single, and one a twin. The largest room, in the old laundry, has a galleried sitting area and en-suite. All of the bedrooms are named to reflect the history of the house and the Fox family (who’ve owned it for over 200 years). 

The Stables has a further five bedrooms, two of which are on the ground floor, and share a bathroom. The three bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom. There is a small kitchen and sitting room.

Many of the bedrooms have beds that can be doubles or twins, to suit your group.

The main house has  two dining rooms, one of which leads off the kitchen. The other is larger, and can sit a full house for lovely long evenings of feasting. The kitchen is large, with a scrubbed-pine table, for feeding small children an early tea.

There is a drawing room, with views over the garden, and a hall, with a piano. Beside the drawing room is the games room (called the Long Room), with a pool table and tennis table, and a casino table, should you fancy Monte Carlo-ing Somerset-style. The house also has a party room, sound-proofed and hard-floored, with integrated lighting and speakers, and a widescreen TV. 

Outside, there’s a terrace with tables and chairs, and a lovely big lawn, for croquet or cartwheels. There are a further 4 acres to explore, and you can picnic down by the mill stream, or drink Champagne and watch the fun from the hot tub. 

The house has a great concierge service, and can arrange local chefs for formal dinners, or something as simple as a supper for when you all arrive. The concierge can also help to arrange activities and in-house entertainment.

About the Location

Tone Dale’s in the village of Tonedale, near Wellington, Somerset, close to the Devon border. The house is not far from Junction 6 of the M5. The nearest rail station is Taunton, about 20 minutes away by taxi. 

Things To Do

There’s lots to do locally, from steam trains to cider farms. Wookey Holes and Cheddar Gorge aren’t too far, neither is Glastonbury, if you’d like to climb the Tor. There are lots of attractions for children of all ages – theme parks, ‘Diggerland’ and ‘Quad World’, amongst them.

Tone Dale has a civil ceremony license for the gardens, drawing room or Long Room. The concierge service is on hand to help with arrangements for your dream day.
