About Tone Dale House

Tone Dale House was built next to a mill, and has been renovated to be a fabulous party house. It suits groups of family and friends, and country-house style weddings.

During the Rule of 6 period we are inviting guests to stay in the Stables adjacent to the main house. It's a beautiful converted property offering the best of traditional features and mod cons. The Stables overlooks the 4 acre garden which you are free to enjoy together with the large hot tub. We are also bringing the table tennis into the party room of the main house (the rest will be closed off), so that you can just step across the courtyard to have fun playing ping pong - there's a wide screen tv too. Normally the Stables can sleep 10 so it's an ideal size to give you a little more space for your group of 6 (with support bubble if you have one).

The house sleeps up to either 31 or 21 guests, depending on whether you might like to use the Stables (the prices shown are for up to 31 guests). The Stables are never let separately to the main house, as they are designed as a guest wing, rather than stand-alone accommodation.

There are 11 bedrooms in the main house, one of which is a triple, and ideal for families or older children. There are seven bedrooms on the first floor, four of which are en-suite, with three sharing further bathrooms. There are three bedrooms on the second floor, one of which is a single, and one a twin. The largest room, in the old laundry, has a galleried sitting area and en-suite. All of the bedrooms are named to reflect the history of the house and the Fox family (who’ve owned it for over 200 years).

The Stables has a further five bedrooms, two of which are on the ground floor, and share a bathroom. The three bedrooms upstairs share a bathroom. There is a small kitchen and sitting room.

Many of the bedrooms have beds that can be doubles or twins, to suit your group.

The main house has  two dining rooms, one of which leads off the kitchen. The other is larger, and can sit a full house for lovely long evenings of feasting. The kitchen is large, with a scrubbed-pine table, for feeding small children an early tea.

There is a drawing room, with views over the garden, and a hall, with a piano. Beside the drawing room is the games room (called the Long Room), with a pool table and tennis table, and a casino table, should you fancy Monte Carlo-ing Somerset-style. The house also has a party room, sound-proofed and hard-floored, with integrated lighting and speakers, and a widescreen TV.

Outside, there’s a terrace with tables and chairs, and a lovely big lawn, for croquet or cartwheels. There are a further 4 acres to explore, and you can picnic down by the mill stream, or drink Champagne and watch the fun from the hot tub.

The house has a great concierge service, and can arrange local chefs for formal dinners, or something as simple as a supper for when you all arrive. The concierge can also help to arrange activities and in-house entertainment.

Edmund’s Choice of Extraordinary Feature

“Tone Dale’s one of the best sort of party houses – relaxed atmosphere, lots of space. The best bit has to be the sound-proofed party room – you can have your own club night and dance the tarantella until your legs give way. “

Reviews

We have just celebrated our daughter's 30th birthday over the past weekend at Tone Dale - a captivatingly beautiful house. We all felt that for a few brief moments of our lives we were cocooned and immersed in the magic and warmth of the house - a place of enchantment. The Big House Company were great from start to finish and provided an excellent choice of caterers and indeed activities to keep us happily occupied. We all felt very welcome. Housekeeping staff keep the property spotless and the beds are very comfortable. Great living and eating spaces, wonderful gardens with a large and popular hot tub, and a variety of walks made Tone Dale the place to be.

The annual search for an ideal property to spend a two week break for a large extended family from parents to children and grandchildren always takes a large amount of careful thought and review. Tone Dale house met our aspirations and the experience was exceptional. The House has a fascinating history and books and pictures portray this for those interested. The facilities in the house and its many rooms /stairs and passages games room and party room can occupy young children in inclement weather and the grounds allow them to play and run off extra energy. The rooms and dining/cooking facilities were clean and generally excellent for such an old house and the area was quiet but within reach of many points of interest for all ages. We booked the whole facility for single group occupation. The staff were friendly and helpful though rarely needed but the wifi was a little patchy. Will no doubt return as the general consensus of the family was this was the best place we have stayed in over 10 years.
