Oakleigh House is an Elizabethan manor house based in the Norfolk market town of Swaffham. Located just a 40 minute drive from the north Norfolk coast with 10 large bedrooms to sleep up to 22 guests, Oakleigh house is the perfect getaway location.
The house was originally built around 1580 in Elizabethan brick with a flint Norfolk style however it was given an elegant Georgian frontage in the mid-1700s.
Since then, Oakleigh House has been renovated and furnished with artwork, quirky curiosities and designer furniture to create a funky private member club atmosphere.

Stepping through the front door, you’re greeted with a magnificent reception hall with original stone floors and a Palladian fireplace which leads to the grand hall and includes a piano for those who enjoy a sing-a-long.

Stepping through the front door, you’re greeted with a magnificent reception hall with original stone floors and a Palladian fireplace which leads to the grand hall and includes a piano for those who enjoy a sing-a-long.
There are three reception rooms on the ground floor, which includes the library and formal lounge. Both rooms have large comfortable sofas, impressive logs burners or fireplaces and a television. These rooms are perfect for some of the group to have a quiet spot to relax whilst the others can put the music on and let the games begin.
Through the grand hall you enter the boot room which leads through to the dining room. The dining room has a beautiful, extendable table that allows the entire group to dine together and enjoy each other’s company. Off the dining room is the kitchen which has access to one of the four gardens. This gravelled area is ideal for BBQ’s in the warm weather with a large dining table and lounge furniture.
For those who’d prefer a ground floor bedroom, off the hallway there’s the garden bedroom with a comfy substantial double sofabed which offers direct access to the garden and the ground floor toilet and sink (bathroom is on the first floor). Just to note, there are 2 steps leading into the property at the front of the house.
Leading upstairs through the second hallway, there is a further 9 king sized bedrooms and 4 wet rooms (2 of which include a copper and nickel roll top bath).
Outside Space
The outside offers beautifully landscaped gardens which are entirely private and secure making it a fantasic place to relax relax whilst the children play on the garden swing under a weeping lime tree.

Access and parking
Guests can use all areas of the house and gardens (there is an outhouse with storage areas and this used only by the host). At the front of of the house, there’s room for 4 cars in the private parking area. Additional street parking is available close to the town centre.

About the Location
Oakleigh House is in the heart of Swaffham Town, Norfolk, which is just under 2 hours’ drive from London or 1.5 hours by train from Kings Cross to Downham Market (20 mins taxi to Swaffham).
Things To Do
Swaffham Town has a host of great gastro pubs, cafes and restaurants and shops and a museum. If you fancy a day at the beach, it’s just a 40 minute drive to Snettisham beach on the North Norfolk Coast, which also has a fantastic walk through its RSPB reverse.
