Fairlawn House is a Grade II listed Georgian townhouse on Amesbury High Street, built in 1837 and now run by local family business A Little Place. It can be booked by the room, but for groups the whole house can be taken on an exclusive basis – 14 en-suite bedrooms for up to 30 guests, with self check-in and a flexible changeover day.

There are three spaces for gathering. The Drawing Room has an honesty bar and works well for welcome drinks. Downstairs, The Cellar – the house’s old wine cellar, reached by a small but steep flight of stairs – seats up to 30 for dinner and is where breakfast is laid out each morning. Up in the eaves, The Loft has a cinema and a small studio for yoga or quiet work. There’s a commercial kitchen, pantry and dining room and private chef and catering can be arranged.

The bedrooms are individually styled, several with Regency touches inspired by Jane Austen and Bridgerton. There are seven doubles with king-size or double beds, three smaller doubles with queen beds (two of them on the ground floor in The Nook), two triples, a twin and The Townhouse Loft with four single beds and its own mini cinema. Every room is en suite; Room 12 has a bath.

Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, and well-behaved hen and stag parties are welcome too. Quiet hours are 10.30pm to 7am out of respect for the neighbours.
