The Tudor Barn is a masterful transformation of a 16th-century barn and cart lodge, creating a unique area that flawlessly strikes a balance between contemporary comfort and historic authenticity. The property is situated on a 500-acre working family farm in rural Suffolk. Up to 25 people can sleep there, and a shepherd’s hut is available for those who prefer more seclusion.
The barn’s interior spaces, which also feature contemporary conveniences, have been meticulously maintained to preserve its impressive original features. The property has oak banquet tables that give the impression of a mediaeval feast hall. A wood burner creates ambience and warmth. The addition of contemporary amenities has kept the building’s historic charm while still providing comfort for visitors.
Utilising solar energy, the property demonstrates its concern for the environment while maintaining all the contemporary conveniences that upscale lodging ought to offer. One unique feature of this location is that visitors can dress in Tudor attire and use antique tableware, allowing them to immerse themselves in the past if they choose completely.
Tennis, croquet, farm walks, and bike rides are just a few of the outdoor activities available at the farm next door. Each room has been thoughtfully designed to evoke a genuine historical atmosphere while remaining cosy for contemporary users. Because of this, it’s perfect for special occasions like hen parties and family reunions.
Location and Things to Do
Located off the beaten track yet easily accessible from London and the surrounding areas, the farm offers scenic walks, historic wool towns like Lavenham and Long Melford, and nearby natural beauty including Constable Country and Suffolk’s coastline.

House Fact
We have researched every owner of our farm since Domesday and discovered that various ancestors have owned the property on and off since the 1400s – and we have archaeological finds that date back to the Stone Age.
Edmund's Choice of Extraordinary Feature
“The barn itself is simply breath-taking, even if you don’t go full-on Tudor for your celebration theme. I think guests will also appreciate the relaxed, renewable energy vibe that the Hawkins family has established. 25 bikes!”

Robert
What a truly magnificent venue for a large party who are celebrating a special occasion or reconnecting with friends/family. We stayed at the barn to celebrate my brothers St-en do a couple of months before his wedding day. There were 23 of us and we all had the best time. The youngest of our group was 14 and the oldest was 85. It’s perfect and caters for all ages. The moment we walked into the barn, it took our breath away!! It’s absolutely stunning. We were greeted by Christopher, who was very helpful and accommodating. A perfect host along with Juliet who made sure everything was ready for our stay. There really is so much to do at the barn. We had a murder mystery dinner on our first evening and all sat comfortably around the fire. On the Saturday we used the bikes and cycled to three of the local villages. We hired a catering company, who we highly recommended, to cook our meal on the Saturday evening before being entertained by a drag queen. Before we departed on the Sunday we played tennis and dressed up in the beautiful Tudor costumes. We can’t wait to find an excuse to come back and highly recommend the Tudor barn to all large groups.
