Solton Manor is a historic Grade II listed country house estate, set within nine acres of Kent countryside near Dover. With origins dating back over 940 years, this former farmhouse has been carefully restored to offer a refined yet welcoming setting for private stays, gatherings and exclusive-use weddings.

The Estate Designed as a complete private estate experience, Solton Manor accommodates up to 28 guests across the site, combining the Manor House (10 bedrooms) with the separate Dovecote Cottage (2 bedrooms). Together, they create a rare opportunity to bring everyone together in one place, whether for a multi-generational countryside stay, a weekend celebration, or a wedding.

The Manor House The Manor House, offers well-appointed bedrooms, with guests able to relax across a series of comfortable living areas, including a sitting room, snug and games room, or unwind outdoors in the hot tub beneath the trees. The house also features a large dining room that accommodates all guests, ideal for private chef dining or self-catering.

Dovecote Cottage A short walk from the house, Dovecote Cottage provides additional privacy with two bedrooms, its own bathroom, and views across the historic moat, wildlife pond and meadow, ideal for couples or guests seeking a quieter retreat within the countryside estate.

Beyond accommodation, the estate unfolds into landscaped gardens, woodland, meadow and historic features, including an ornamental stone bridge and ruins. Reflecting its origins as a working farmhouse estate, the Dutch Barn and Old Stables remains a striking and versatile space, allowing the property to transform seamlessly into a wedding and events setting while still retaining the feel of a private country house.

Solton Manor is not simply a place to stay, but a place to gather, where countryside, heritage and location to the Kent Coastline come together to create the perfect location to gather and celebrate milestone events like 30ths, 40th, 50th and weddings.

Location and Things to Do

Beautifully situated in the peaceful village of East Langdon near Dover, Solton Manor enjoys a setting that feels both secluded and wonderfully connected. Surrounded by Kent countryside, the estate offers a true sense of escape, while remaining within easy reach of some of the region’s most iconic coastal and historic destinations.

Just twelve minutes away, St Margaret’s Bay offers dramatic white cliffs, a quiet shingle beach and fresh sea air — perfect for coastal walks followed by a visit to a local pub. The historic city of Canterbury, with its renowned cathedral, independent shops and restaurants, lies just 20 minutes away via the A2, while London can be reached in under two hours by train.

For those looking to explore further, nearby highlights include Dover Castle and Walmer Castle, both rich in history and easily accessible. For a change of scene, guests can take the ferry from Dover to France or Belgium, or travel just 20 minutes to Folkestone to join the Eurotunnel for a seamless journey to the continent.

Weddings

Solton Manor offers a rare and romantic setting for weddings, where historic charm and natural beauty come together in effortless harmony. With a range of thoughtfully curated spaces, couples have the freedom to shape their day in a way that reflects their personal style, whether intimate and understated or grand and celebratory.

Licenced outdoor ceremonies For outdoor ceremonies, Godric’s Garden is a hidden gem: a walled, ruin-fringed space with views across the fields, ideal for saying your vows under open skies. Tucked deeper within the grounds, Finet’s Woodland offers a more rustic, enchanted setting, perfect for nature-lovers seeking a secluded and storybook feel.

Indoor ceremonies For indoor ceremonies, the Old Stables provide a characterful alternative. With its warm flint, brickwork, beams, and soft lighting, it’s a timeless space that feels both elegant and grounded. Smaller weddings up to 50 guests, are often held within the main house itself, where period details, sash windows, and a sense of heritage create a setting of quiet grandeur.

Whether you envision a ceremony beneath the trees, within ancient walls, or in the heart of a Grade II home, Solton Manor offers a flexible, deeply atmospheric canvas for your wedding day.

Catering We work with two caterers Touchays and Invicta Food Design however we do also offer the venue as dry hire, but your caterer must have a five star food hygiene rating and must have public liability insurance. Your caterer will need to supply linen, cutlery, crockery and staff.

We got married here on 30th April 2026. Solton Manor was an absolutely amazing venue and we couldn’t have asked for anything better. The team at Solton Manor were brilliant, especially Emilie our wedding co-coordinator who helped us throughout the whole planning process. The team were extremely flexible and adaptable for our needs, even on the day of the wedding. We had regular communication throughout the planning process which increased the closer we got to the wedding day. We found the planning portal (Sonas) particularly helpful and useful for adding information, keeping track of communication and payments and finalising plans. We were lucky enough that the weather was nice so we were able to get married in the outdoor ceremony area. However if the weather wasn’t on our side, the new indoor ceremony area would have been just as lovely. We made the most of the venue by the bridal party staying the night before in the newly renovated Dovecote cottage and ourselves and close family staying the night of the wedding in the Manor House. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect and we’re so sad it’s over. Would 100% recommend Solton Manor!

Absolutely would come here again! We booked this as a 30th surprise for my partner with us and 15 other friends. We had the most amazing time, things to do nearby, everything was clean as a whistle! Views are stunning, staff were lovely. Photos absolutely don’t do the rooms justice. Would definitely recommend!

I recently created flowers for a styled shoot at Solton Manor and has the best time. The solton manor team were SO friendly and welcoming and the venue gardens are incredible and so well maintained. I can’t wait to flower for more weddings and events at Solton Manor.

3 of us just had a night at the Manor. It totally lived up to expectations – warm, comfortable and welcoming – and we will be back in the coming months and years. Thanks to Sam and the team

Very disappointing and stressful experience.

As a bride, I found my experience with Solton Manor far more stressful than it should ever have been. While communication was initially pleasant enough, it became increasingly inconsistent and difficult as more planning details needed to be finalised.

Over time, this led to a serious loss of confidence in the venue’s organisation, communication, and overall professionalism. What should have been an exciting process became upsetting and exhausting.

We also found aspects of the catering and planning communication particularly difficult to navigate, which added further frustration. In the end, we made the decision to move our wedding elsewhere, and the difference in professionalism and reassurance with our new venue has been significant.

Unfortunately, resolving the financial side afterwards has only added to the disappointment. Our second payment of £3,000, paid in good faith towards the wedding, has still not been returned, despite our view that it should be. That is before even addressing the question of our bond.

That ongoing issue has only reinforced our view that this has been a very poor experience from start to finish.

While the venue itself is attractive, our experience of the service behind it did not meet the standard we expected for such an important occasion. And the caterer. The rudest most offensive caterer. He insulted myself without realizing my partner was listening. He promptly rebuked the man, who swiftly attempted to apologise. The other staff within the catering service, we found to be unhelpful and was available one.

I heard the staffs own complaints. This added to my nervousness. It is not information a bride wishes to hear nor build a rapport on.

I then decided to go online to their reviews and wish I had done so before booking Solton Manor. I saw bad reviews. I then rang the staff and enquired about these reviews. One answer I recieved was, ‘ we are working on ‘removing’ these reviews & improving our marketing now.’

We found them to be messy. And to now find ourselves in an ongoing email chain for us to get our well entitled and owed £3000.00 back, is distressing.

Since we have found another venue and within the first 2 hours of dealing with our new venue, we achieved more in our arrangements that the months in liaising with the staff at the manor.

The staff sound lovely, friendly, polite. However, please work out, for a cheaper venue, the difficulties we experienced, would not want for any other bride or groom. Especially young ones. We are older and understand business etc.

I would advise other couples to ask very detailed questions, ensure everything is clearly documented, and think carefully before committing.

Very nice place. Staff all very good and helpful. I was at the Council tourism network event

This is a magical estate.

A very solid staff of planners and everything needed for a solid function. The venue, estate, views, service. Everything was excellent. The estate and venues are well kept and very comfortable for everything we needed.

Thank you Emely, Sam and the entire team for an unforgettable experience.

Hannah Dye

We viewed Solton manor and Sam was, friendly, informative and even accommodating to our late arrival. The venue is lovely & couples would be lucky to get married there

Kim and Cem Eray

Getting married at Solton Manor was a dream come true. From the first time we spoke to Jackie, we felt truly supported and welcomed! Not only is the venue absolutely stunning, but being able to book the Manor House to stay with our friends and family on both the nights before and after just made the whole wedding experience so special. We only had a couple of months to plan our wedding, and the whole team was absolutely wonderful, and Emilie who helped us plan all the finer details was incredibly supportive. Everything felt possible, non-fuss and we had the most magical wedding. Getting married just before Christmas also meant that they had put up lots of decorations already, which made it so easy for us to fill in the blanks. Their list of trusted suppliers was a godsend. Thank you Solton Manor!

Nikki Recas

Beautiful place and surroundings although our event was in the evening.

Laura Laughey

Visited a Christmas market here today. There was a nice selection of stalls and it was well organised.

Wolfos Gamers

Guy who greeted us on the gate could bearly speak English which made it very hard for directions, confused alot of the family, and the grounds weren’t (Guest perspective) very well maintained, hedges uncut, pond un cleared, stuff that looke rough in photos, however, staff that were there mostly Fantastic polite professional, food was fantastic, entertainment was class, bar had a wide variety, over all good, just not overlying amazed

Lea Vinette

Unfortunately, my experience trying to communicate with this venue has been very disappointing. I’ve been trying to get in touch for several weeks now via Airbnb, email and Instagram, but I’ve still not received a proper reply, only repeated messages saying “we’ll get back to you tomorrow”, which never happens. It’s a real shame, as the place looks lovely and had great potential. Good communication is key, especially for something as important as a wedding.

Olaniyi Ogunrekun-Peter

Brilliant place to host events , value for your money completely without headaches.

Kizzie Browne

I will never be able to express how grateful I am To the solton manor team for the most gorgeous, memorable and perfect day ever. I knew as soon as I stepped foot onto the grounds and met the team that it was the venue for me. Every single thing was perfect from the quick responses to emails, the communication, the care and love the team actually have for you and so so much more. There was not one thing that wasn’t perfect on our wedding day and that’s thanks to the team at solton. We stayed for 2 nights after the wedding and they looked after us but also you wouldn’t even know they were there. I wish I could re do everything again and again. Thank you solton manor team for making the best day of our lives even better than we could ever imagine.

Solton Manor were absolutely amazing! The staff were friendly, experienced and quick to adapt to changing situations but also provide flexibility when needed. The grandeur of the manor house, warm atmosphere and welcoming team all helped to create a unique and bespoke experience with attention to detail at all stages. Solton Manor is a stunning country house wedding venue nestled in the heart of Dover. I had the pleasure of designing The Old Stables, with the brief to transform it into an elegant indoor ceremony space. Working alongside the team was a joy as we brought new life to this historic building. I was keen to preserve its original charm, retaining the beautiful flint walls and exposed beams to create a timeless, atmospheric setting. I’m very much looking forward to designing more of this remarkable manor in the near future.

Tom Keenan

An awesome wedding venue in Kent. Surely one to watch with their new plans for various spaces indoor and outdoor. I visited yesterday evening for the opening of a new indoor ceremony space (seating around 100) which was gorgeous, yet there’s still the option of getting married outside if the weather is friendly. Lovely team, beautiful spaces to walk for photographs, good size car parks around the grounds too and easy to find. Look forward to shooting more weddings here in future because this place is awesome.

Rob

This is my review as a wedding guest, I visited here in 2023. The grounds are lovely and majority of the staff went up and beyond to make the day a memorable day, one of the staff members I felt was rude but maybe I took it the wrong way. The grounds are lovely and kept to a high standard I didn’t go in the Manor House so I can’t comment but the reason for a four star is when we went into the hall area to eat it wasn’t served table by table so some people were eating on a table and some people were waiting, I was the only person to have the vegetarian option so I was pretty much the first person to eat while the rest had all eyes on me. Now the interesting part was the bar was just a mock up with no pumps and everything was bottles including my cola out of a Tesco bottle then charged £4 as everything was £4 for a drink but I got a white wine spritzer which was £8 for the privilege, good job I had a few bob on me. The day was over 6hrs from the ceremony to eating to partying the night away. If the Bar area was sorted out il give it a five star.

Lauren Taylor

I booked Solton Manor to celebrate my birthday with family and friends. Prior to my stay, the team were great at responding to any queries I had.

We had a wonderful weekend at the property. The dining room in particular is amazing and is even bigger than it looks in the photos! The games room was brilliant as well. It is a very grand house, perfect for celebrating something special.

I would also recommend The Lantern Inn for a drink, which is walking distance from the property.

Tom Cawdron

Solton Manor is such a beautiful wedding venue tucked away in the countryside near St Margrets Bay.

I have had the pleasure of capturing multiple weddings a Solton Manor and it is a venue I could keep on coming back to. The beautiful manor, surrounding gardens and the amazing Dutch Barn are the perfect setting for a wedding. You also have the opportunity to get married outside underneath the gazebo. The photo opportunities are endless! I can’t wait to return to Solton Manor for another wedding!

Came here for a close friends wedding in the middle of summer and what a day it was. We stayed in the Manor House which was lovely, definitely dated, but just what you would expect. The wedding venue was beautiful, outside on the garden area and the hall where we had the food and party was perfect. It was a fantastic day

Karen Clarke

My husband and I got married at Solton Manor in August 2023. We’d arranged to have our wedding outside in Godricks garden, Only to get to the day and there were loads of yellow weather warnings!! Karen, Jackie and the team were so helpful and reassuring that no matter what the weather was that they’d make sure the day went perfectly and that, it did. With them all waiting patiently for myself and my husband to make our decision on whether to have our wedding inside or out, they managed to organise everything for the inside ceremony in the very short time frame we gave them and wow did it blow us away! It looked absolutely beautiful in there. Thank goodness we made that decision as it turned out to be the worst storm we’d had all year!! All of the catering staff were absolutely fantastic and very attentive, making sure everything was lovely. The venue itself is stunning, everyone said how lovely their rooms were and how comfy the beds are! There are photo opportunities everywhere, even when you are limited because of weather so never worry about that. We had the most fantastic day and I think if our feet could have carried on dancing all night they would have done. Neither of us can fault anything and often reminisce about that day wishing we could re-live it again and again and I know our families and friends feel the same. We wouldn’t have wanted to spend our special day anywhere else! 1000% recommend this venue! 🙂

Solton Manor was just the most perfect wedding venue. From the gorgeous Manor House and the impressive Dutch Barn to the charming grounds and surroundings, it was everything we wished for and more. Our guests were very impressed and even our beloved sausage dog, Frankie, was welcomed and got to be part of our special day, too! ❤️ Karen, Jackie, and their team were fantastic from start to finish. Everyone was professional, hardworking, and friendly, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Highly recommend. Definitely the best wedding venue in Kent! Wendy, Jim and Frankie x

We stayed with our family to celebrate our Sapphire Wedding Anniversary. There was a party for 110 family and friends in the Dutch Barn on the Estate and afterwards we 20 of our closest family wondered over to the stunning Manor House to spend the night. Even though the Manor House was so big, it felt cosy and we had an amazing time. We had 5 children with us and they had an absolute ball! Everyone out the Manor House, Dutch Barn and the wedding planners, Karen and Jackie was just faultless and we are so glad that we chose Solton Manor for our celebrations. They arranged a delicious grazing breakfast and the in house caterers, Invicta Food Design, were just great to deal with and the party food was just what we wanted. I cannot recommend Solton Manor enough for a stay, celebration or wedding – it’s a dream x

Really nice people.

Jemima Sparkes

My fiance, parents and I went to view Solton Manor as a potential wedding venue. Although we chose to have our wedding elsewhere, we were blown away with the warm and lovely welcome we received from Shelley. She was prepared with a wealth of information and options for us to consider and there wasn't a question she didn't have the answer to. The genuine flexibility that Solton Manor is offering to couples and their families in these uncertain times is admirable. We were e xtremely impressed with this honest and open approach. We will certainly be recommending this as a venue to other couples in the future.

A stunning wedding venue set in the heart of the Kent countryside. The grounds are peaceful and away from the hustle and bustle, yet conveniently located a short drive from the A258.

Weddings can be hosted in the marquee, which is very spacious and opened up onto the grounds if the weather is nice.

The owners were very friendly and happy to help.
