We recently hired Boxted Hall for our daughter’s Wedding Reception along with the bedrooms. Guy couldn’t have been more helpful from the initial enquiry, being very responsive in communication, guiding us through the planning with a stress free approach which was just great! The Hall and surroundings are stunning and what we particularly loved was the “homely” feel of the inside. Guests were very comfortable and could relax in a choice of different areas, suitable for a larger gathering. All our friends and family enthused about their weekend at Boxted and were blown away by what Boxted Hall offers. So glad we were able to celebrate at Boxted – it will forever hold a special memory for our family, thank you!

We booked Boxted Hall for a weekend to celebrate a special birthday with family and friends and we were certainly not disappointed! After searching for a suitable house that would accommodate 3 generations in comfort and style, Boxted Hall was simply perfect. It was a superb way to celebrate – from the minute you cross the moat to enter Boxed Hall, it is simply delight after delight. Our families and friends all said ”this is how to throw a party” – the warmth, character and comfort of Boxted really made it easy. It was our good luck to find such a stunning country house that caters for children, grandchildren and friends set in wonderful Suffolk countryside. Guy is an impeccable, welcoming host, from answering our 5 year old grandson’s questions with great patience as he showed us around the family home to providing every comfort for our stay. We can’t recommend Boxted Hall highly enough. All we must do now is plan our next celebration to see how soon we can return – we can’t wait!

Absolute perfection! Hosting our wedding celebration at Boxted Hall over a three-day weekend was the best decision! Working with Guy to plan our weekend was so easy; he was accommodating and incredibly patient in answering our endless questions. We felt so welcome upon arrival, thanks to his ensuring everything was organized ahead of time, including coordination with the housekeeper, Rachelle, who offered lots of support before we arrived, and the gardener/groundsman. Additionally, the event coordinator, Sally, made sure our party went off without a hitch! All of our guests had an unforgettable weekend – hours of billiards, pool time, and garden lounging enjoyed by all!

We hired Boxted Hall for a week to celebrate my 60th Birthday with friends and family. Everything was wonderful, the house, grounds, pool, and the caterers ‘Perfect Day’ (one of 6 recommended by Guy). I can honestly say I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The weather was excellent as well, enabling us to have BBQ’s on the lawn prior to our big night. We have amazing memories of drinks on the terrace prior to our fabulous sit down dinner in the great hall, followed by music and dancing. Everyone loved their rooms and we really enjoyed every corner of Boxted Hall. Huge thank you to Guy and his team for making this birthday treat so special.

A place steeped in history, 6 months on we cannot stop talking about it! The perfect venue for a reunion of close friends from Ireland – we go on a big trip of 20+ every year and I think this one was the best so far! We will 100% be booking again for next year (hopefully they’ll still have us!). Dog friendly, party friendly, dinner party friendly, talent show friendly – Boxted Hall has it all! Venue aside, Guy was the most welcoming and attentive host we could hope for. Our group are particularly interested in history and he was more than willing to talk us through the amazing family history associated with the Hall.

I can’t give Boxted hall enough praise, from the wedding service at Boxted church on top of the hill overlooking the hall, to our wedding reception in the hall itself, everything was magical. Guy and his family were so friendly, helpful, and nothing was too much trouble.

So if you are looking for the most enchanting location, amazing history, stunning bedrooms, and an atmosphere that can only come from the love that Guy clearly has put in to maintaining this wonderous building, I can’t think of anywhere better to celebrate a wedding.

Had an a amazing time with a large party of friends over a weekend. Lovely accommodation although due to the building being older the plumbing was not ideal at times. This was the only downside to a wonderful venue with great amenities l, and lovely grounds. Would definitely go there again with my friends

We hired Boxted Hall for a weekend away with family and friends. I could not recommend the venue more highly. We still reflect back on our party at Boxted (now a couple of years ago) as one of our happiest times with family and friends. Guy was really helpful in answering all of our questions and made us feel really welcome. I’m already counting down the days till my next big birthday so I have an excuse (hopefully) to plan another weekend away with all my favourite people at this special place.

We’ve had big family gatherings here a few times and it is a fantastic place. Guy and his team run a fantastic service. The house is huge, warm, full of rooms to party or hide away. Lots of walks around the park. We’ll be back!

We had our wedding earlier this year at the Boxted Hall. The venue itself was of course amazing, but mostly, Guy was such a good host. He made our wedding planning stress free. He was very good with communication, transparent, always replied to our emails/calls timely, and answered our questions patiently. He also gave really good advice for wedding planning in Boxted Hall, we’re very happy we took most of his advice in hindsight.

Also, shout out to Vicky, the caterer recommended by Guy, she was such a MVP of the helping hands for our weekend.

We had the absolute joy of photographing a wedding at Boxted Hall this July, and it was a fantastic experience! The venue was simply gorgeous, with the gardens in full bloom, providing a vibrant backdrop that made every shot pop. There’s something truly special about a summer wedding here—the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and love. We had so much fun exploring all the different spots around the hall. The mix of stunning indoor spaces and beautiful outdoor areas gave us plenty of creative options to play with.

All in all, Boxted Hall is a lovely venue for a wedding, and we feel lucky to have been part of such a special day. We can’t wait to come back and capture more beautiful moments in this enchanting place!

My recent 40th birthday celebration at Boxted Hall couldn’t have gone better. The hall is beautifully maintained and the grounds were just stunning. All my guests were blown away. We kicked off the festivities with a banquet in the main hall on the first night, followed by a more relaxed poolside party in the garden the next day. Both spaces suited the style of each event perfectly. A special thanks to Guy, who was fantastic throughout the entire process. His helpfulness and laid-back approach was exactly what we needed. Thank you, Guy, for making it such a wonderful time!

WOW! Boxted Hall was the perfect choice for our wedding. We are still on cloud nine and could not recommend it highly enough. Guy was a pleasure to deal with throughout and it was obvious just how much he cared that we had an amazing weekend. We had a week-end party for our family and friends to celebrate a birthday. Our hosts Guy and Melissa Weller-Poley did everything they could to help us make it memorable. The setting and the surrounding countryside are stunning and the younger members wre able to swim in the pool and take long walks even in April. Boxted Hll was fully equipped to provide every thing for a house party with intimacy of feeling we were in our own home.

Of course we could have stayed at one of many other “country house” places, some as units of large organisations or even corporations anxious to offset their costs. But choosing Boxted Hall was definitely the “right” decision. Here was a manor house small enough to comprehend but big enough to have all the right ingredients – from a practical kitchen with all we needed – andmore – to a billiards room, from an accessible estate for our excursions to “honey-moon level” bedrooms, from a greart hall which made our group (family and friends) dining so memorable to so many serendipity features that we gave up counting – the church, the moat, the tennis courts, the log fires, the history, even the WiFi, and more. Perhaps best of all was how welcoming was Guy, from the family, and such of his staff as we met. Everyone made us welcome – and everyone made us feel that we owned Boxted Hall and its special blend of antiquity and practical modernity. Every one of our 26 guets wrote in glowing terms. Our long weeknd will not be forgotten – close to perfect and much more than five star!

We stayed at Boxted Hall for my 60th Birthday weekend…..I cannot extol the virtues enough…beautiful and grand, but so cosy and homely, magnificent for our black-tie dinner, fantastic amenities and so well equipped…just perfect.

Guy and Melissa are simply wonderful and made our stay effortless…nothing was too much trouble and they were so attentive without being visible!

My hopes for the weekend were already high but Boxted Hall surpassed all expectations and I couldn’t have wished for any better place to celebrate, thank you for extending your home to us, it was magical

We recently stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate a dear friend’s special birthday. It was an absolutely fabulous weekend, the house and grounds are quite spectacular. Particularly loved the dining room, and drawing room. The house is large however it felt very cosy especially with the wood fireplaces. Guy was very personable and it was so interesting to hear about the history of the house and family. He also went over and above to assist when we had left some belongings at the house. I would highly recommend staying here…you will not be disappointed!

Along with 9 other couples we have just spent a fabulous week over New Year at the magnificent Boxted Hall. The house is extremely comfortable with a huge atmospheric dining room complete with large highly effective wood burner. There is also a spacious attractively furnished sitting room with open fire and a cosy library with wood burner, as well a large well equipped kitchen plus a big cold pantry and a second dining room which we used for breakfast. The beds are all comfortable and the 9 ensuite bedrooms are all attractive. It should be bourne in mind that access to the 4 attic bedrooms and their 2 shower rooms is via a fairly steep, short staircase. Exploring the attractive estate grounds was entertaining, especially trying to spot the resident owls and kingfishers, and viewing the ancient little church that past generations of Waller-Poleys. Over the last 15 years we, as a group, have been hiring houses like this for New Year and I think we all agree that Boxted is definitely one of the best. Many thanks to the owner, Guy who was extremely helpful and attentive whenever required.

Stayed here for a week with friends to celebrate New Year. The house has a real ‘wow’ factor – there is history, there is warmth and comfort, there are grand rooms, and cosy spaces. The kitchen is well-equipped with plenty of cutlery, glassware and crockery for the 20 of us. Fridge and freezer space is excellent, and we made good use of the pantry for storing drinks, vegetables and cheese. Boxted Hall is clearly a well-loved home going back over many generations. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed watching the resident barn owls at dawn and dusk.

The nine main bedrooms and bathrooms are stunning, although some a bit limited on hanging space. We picked the slight ‘short straw’ and climbed the extra stairs to one of the attic rooms each night (we had access to a shower room & loo on the first floor below). The beds and bedding were of an exceptionally high quality (silk in the duvets!)

The owner, Guy is delightful, and extremely helpful. The local area is very interesting – great for our ‘wellie walks’ and NT visits. Strongly recommend. Loved it.

A perfect place for a family celebration. We had such a special time in this wonderful home. The owners couldn’t have been more helpful or welcoming. Caterers ensured our celebration meal in the historic dining hall created many special memories for us all. A wonderful weekend – full of fun and laughter in a terrific venue.

Boxted Hall is breathtakingly beautiful and at the same time relaxed and comfortable. Our family group – 21 people and a dog – have just had our second weekend stay and we loved it just as much as the first time. All the first floor bedrooms are luxurious, with lovely views. Everything is well maintained. Guy the owner was really welcoming and helpful, both before and during our stay. There is lots to do outdoors for the energetic. The kitchen is well equipped for self catering. We hope to be back.

We recently had the pleasure of renting Boxted hall for a weekend to celebrate our Wedding with our close relatives. Boxted was the ideal venue for this celebration and would highly recommend it for any occasion. The hall and grounds are stunning, a perfect backdrop for any celebration. Practically, the house is very well equipped, with everything we needed for a large party. The communal spaces are vast and the accommodation was luxurious.Whilst the Hall is exceptionally grand, it still managed to retain a homely feel to it.Prior to booking the Hall, Melissa gave us lot’s of information and answered our many questions promptly. Our visit to the hall and our correspondence before the weekend was handled excellently by Guy. No request was too big or small and all were met with enthusiasm, which put us at ease before the big day.The weekend itself was superb- Guy was on hand to help us out when needed and went the extra mile by sharing some of the halls history.Our party included young children, elderly people and everything in between- all loved their stay at the Hall. We would highly recommend Boxted Hall.

We held our wedding at Boxted Hall in June 2023 and it was incredible. We looked at a few venues, but as soon as we came to view the hall we knew straight away it was the place we would hold our special day. The hall and grounds are so spectacular, yet also feel homely and welcoming.

Being able to make the most of the hall for the whole weekend was amazing and really set it apart. From setting up in our own time the day before, to spending time with our close family for a barbecue the day after – we loved every minute. We were also able to have our two family dogs staying which meant a lot.

The owners, Guy and Melissa, were so helpful during the planning process, suggesting ideas, helping us get in touch with the vicar at the church on site, and liaising with our wedding suppliers throughout. It made the planning much less stressful for us. The caterers recommended were also brilliant – the food was lovely. On the day we had a fantastic coordinator, Sally, helping who was so kind and ensured everything ran smoothly.

A big thank you to everyone at Boxted Hall who helped turn our wedding dreams into a reality – it really was the perfect day and weekend – we will remember it forever.

We hired Boxted Hall for our wedding in March 2023. What a wonderful weekend it was. The hall itself is such a stunning building with beautiful views out to Boxted Church on the hill and fields of sheep. Guy and Melissa the owners couldn’t have been more accommodating and helpful to help our weekend run smoothly. Nothing was too much trouble. We were able to visit the hall several times before the date to help with planning, they were extremely flexible with arrival times to ensure we had time to unpack and therefore time on the Friday evening to relax and enjoy a family meal. The house itself is extremely well equipped. We never ran out of crockery or cutlery, at so many holiday lets you have to wait for the dishwasher to finish or take things out early as there often aren’t spares. The house itself was extremely clean on arrival. Bed sheets and towels are of very high quality. Our wedding weekend was on colder side, Guy and Melissa provided plenty of fire wood to make sure we stayed warm and cosy all weekend. Our dog Lottie was made to feel welcome. The owners have put a lot of thought into making Boxted Hall the perfect venue for weddings- e.g. plenty of umbrellas by the door just in case. It really is a wonderful venue to share with your family, plenty of space for children to play inside and outside. I would highly recommend Boxted Hall to anyone looking for their perfect wedding venue. Thank-you for letting us stay.

I stayed at Boxted Hall for a birthday weekend with friends and found the whole experience wonderful. Guy and Melissa were excellent hosts. They answered all my questions before arrival and were very welcoming throughout the weekend.

The house itself is beautiful and was such a special place to stay, with rooms steeped in history but still very comfortable and each bedroom had its own lovely character. The billiards room was a particular highlight, as well as the beautiful dining hall which doubled up as a ceilidh dancefloor for the evening.

I couldn’t recommend Boxted Hall highly enough. We all had a fantastic time and look forward to returning! Thank you, Guy and Melissa for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Our stay at Boxted Hall was outstanding in so many ways. The building’s extremely long history made it a fascinating place to explore and enjoy, from the wonderful baronial hall that enabled all 26 of our blended family (ages ranging from 10 to 80), to be seated around the long table, to the various lounge/recreation areas that provided multiple options for relaxing. These included the Drawing Room with its lovely piano, the Billiard room, and several other rooms in between. There is much more that can be said about the Hall upstairs, with its beautiful bedrooms, comfortable beds, immaculate linen, and outstanding ensuite bathrooms. More practically even in the middle of winter the house was always warm with central heating and log burning fires, and the kitchen facilities were excellent. The external features that we enjoyed included the moat with its resident swans & otters, and the walled garden, with tennis court and swimming pool, which especially appealed to the grandchildren! Last, but far from least, Guy ensured that we had understood what we needed to know with regard to all the facilities. Worth mentioning as an aside, for those that don’t know Suffolk, is that Bury is an attractive market town to visit, and the countryside surrounding the hall made for very pleasant walking. The booking process was straightforward and we found it very helpful to be able to visit the Hall ahead of our stay, enabling us to plan ahead for room allocation and practical ideas for catering! We unhesitatingly recommend Boxted Hall for similar large group/family events. New Year 2022 is definitely one we will all remember.

We were the lucky guests of a weekend wedding celebration at Boxted Hall. The house is wonderful, old and modern simultaneously. Well, not modern in style, but in amenities. Rooms were beautifully appointed and the staff who served food and drinks through dinner on Saturday were delightfully helpful and attentive. It was fun to imagine oneself as the weekend guest of a modern Jane Austen novel. It was too cold to spend much time outside as I had a cold, but the grounds looked lovely. The moat is very atmospheric. The church at the top of the hill where the wedding blessing was held is a lovely gem.

A 5 mile walk to the Queen’s Head restaurant was beautiful with wide vistas that reminded me of a Turner painting.

We had the great pleasure of having Boxted Hall for a long weekend in February 2022 for my 50th birthday party. Guy was a fabulous host – just so friendly, relaxed and organised from start to finish. We truly felt that the hall was ours for the time we had it. The setting is stunning and there is a nice walk across the fields to the local pub. All-in-all, a perfect weekend at Boxted Hall… thank you so much.

We had a three day wedding (over a week) at Boxted Hall. We had booked it 3 years in advance (had to push it twice for covid) and had moved to NZ in the meantime. The house was absolutely fantastic. Having our wedding in the UK while living in Nz was always going to be a challenge. We wanted to host everyone from NZ that had travelled so far to be at the event. But logistically it was going to be hard. The owner (Guy) had to deal with so much that we threw at him. Beer deliveries that came too early, our horrific fire making skills, caterers that left early and changing weather that brought so much mud into the house. Guy was extremely attentive and was involved in a lot but not being overbearing. Our main wedding wasn’t at the house but we had a Saturday party and silent disco in the main room for 80 people. The house was perfect for it. The pool was amazing for a post hangover swim and we had a tennis tournament too. It was the best week for our wedding and showing off the Suffolk beauty for NZ guests. I cannot recommend this house enough for an amazing family getaway or hosting a great party.

Twenty-three of my oldest friends flew to the UK in May to gather together at Boxted Hall for a long-awaited reunion. Our four days could not have been more enjoyable. We swam, played tennis and croquet, wandered through the lush Suffolk countryside to the local pub, sang songs around the Bechstein piano, sat in the kitchen in the cool mornings warmed by the largest of AGA stoves, slept like babies each night We were blessed with good weather and doubly blessed with the hospitality of owner, Guy Weller-Poley. One of my elderly buddies wrote afterwards to say thank you for ” the fabulous setting, the stress-free mingling of our ancient souls, the nightly raising of glasses and voices, and for finding our paradise, Boxted Hall” I can say nothing more, except, thank you to Guy and to wish we could post many more than five stars.

Boxted Hall is simply perfect. It is beautifully maintained, clean, stunning and a dream location for any gathering. Guy is a suburb host who will do all in his power to accommodate your every wish and has been exceptionally understanding in the wake of Covid. I honestly cannot recommend Boxted Hall enough – if you are looking for a quintessentially British and breathtaking wedding venue, look no further. Just. Book. It.

What can I say about Boxted Hall, it was literally the best weekend I could have imagined. We hired the Hall for the weekend for my 40th birthday celebrations in March and it was just fantastic. Guy was utterly brilliant, such a lovely man who was so kind and generous with his time. We had a Venetian Banquet on the Friday night, a large group on the Saturday and then family over on the Sunday. The Hall catered for all the events perfectly with each room providing a gorgeous setting. All the bedrooms were fantastic with the main bedrooms all having en-suites, the kitchen was always a hub with people and the 26 guests that stayed had an incredible weekend away. I could not recommend Boxted Hall enough, thank you for having us. xx

What an excellent place to stay. A stunning stately home oozing with history. The most comfortable beds and enough wood to keep the fires burning brightly through your stay. Guy is the most helpful host – who works to ensure your visit is as successful as possible. If you are looking for a place to build beautiful memories then Boxted Hall comes highly recommended by our family.

This is place is just beautiful without being pretentious and stuffy. 25 of us enjoyed the most wonderful stay at Boxted Hall for birthday celebrations. Guy was extremely helpful both before and during our stay and ensured that we had everything we needed. The pool and grounds are fantastic and made a great stay even better and we very much hope to return again in the future.

Our small company of 13 people stayed for a weekend to celebrate the company’s 40th anniversary. This was the most amazing venue, great facilities and very comfortable, with a lovely ambiance. The setting is magical and the grounds are stunning. I think we were all quite giddy with excitement as soon as we arrived! Although we were quite busy with lots of arranged activities (archery, clay pigeon shooting and a murder mystery evening!), we found it super relaxing. We had caterers in for the whole weekend and that worked really well. Guy, the owner, was lovely and helpful and quick to reply to my many questions on email prior to the date and once we had arrived. We would all love to return one day!

Fantastic venue for my daughter’s wedding not cheap but you can make a weekend on the event for the sort of price an afternoon/evening hire would cost in London

We had a great family holiday in the grand setting of Boxted Hall. The grounds were picture perfect and even when the weather wasn’t cooperating there was plenty of space and activities inside. The local pubs recommended by Guy were excellent. A return some day is definitely on the cards.

The house is a wonderful combination of “wow” and relaxed. Having so many comfortable bedrooms and good bathrooms was perfect for our family group of teenagers, young adults and not-so-young adults. The tennis, croquet, badminton, pool and billiards were all much enjoyed, and being able to have our two dogs with us was great. Guy was friendly and helpful. All our family loved the house and are keen to re-book.

Amazing venue, wonderful host. Will most definitely be returning.

Stayed at Boxted Hall for a friend’s wedding over a bank holiday weekend. The setting is spectacular and the hall is amazing place to spend a weekend. The kitchen facilities are great, there is a nice range of rooms, and the dining hall is very grand. Add in the croquet lawn, tennis court, swimming pool and masses of wildlife to see on tap and you have it all. Guy the owner was on site and super helpful with any requests or small problems that arose

We had a fantastic bank holiday weekend here as guests of a wedding party, really beautiful setting and a truly splendid house. The owner is really friendly and helpful, nothing too much trouble. Hope to stay again soon.

From start to finish Guy was amazing. He arranged several visits to the hall prior to the weekend and when COVID cancelled the booking he made every effort to arrange an alternative date. Boxted Hall is the perfect venue for a wedding, large or small and a great getaway venue for friends or family. Everything that we needed was there and the kitchen facilities were amazing. The bedrooms are beautiful as is every room in the hall. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the main hall which is used as the large dining room and we also utilised it as our party room. There are 3 sitting rooms and a large billiards room with a full sized snooker table and dartboard. All bedrooms apart from the attic rooms are en-suite and the quality of the linen is outstanding. Thank you Guy and family for allowing us to use your family home, it was truly magical. We will be back!

We are a family of 8, we wanted to create some special memories for my husband’s 50th Birthday.. The minute we pulled up Boxted Hall in all its glory certainly did absolutely that. We were welcomed to the Fabulous weekend retreat, left to explore the Exquisite bedrooms, and Incredibly huge rooms to all sit together around an open fire. The boys spent many hours in the billiards room, we all ate , drank and laughed together. We catered for ourselves using the super clean, country kitchen. We loved the scenic walks, tennis courts and simply beautiful church. I’ve highly recommend a weekend away or a fantastic week in this superb property to all my friends and will continue to do so. We would love to be able to host a big party For family and friends there or hopefully a wedding in the not too distant future

It is 4 weeks now since our amazing long weekend at Boxted Hall to celebrate our Diamond Wedding anniversary and we still can’t stop talking about it. The house is lovely, spacious and very well equipped and the grounds, with all of their amenities, kept the whole family entertained throughout. As our ages ranged from 3 to 83, that is no mean feat!

We felt comfortable and relaxed in the homely atmosphere of Boxted and hope that we can return in the not too distant future and stay a little longer.

We held our small wedding at Boxted Hall and had the most magical time. As a couple who had originally planned a larger wedding elsewhere (pre-Covid) we cannot now imagine our wedding in any other way. It was far more than we could have dreamed or imagined…how funny that such a strange situation turned our wedding into the most wonderful event, spanning a few days, making the most of the breathtaking surroundings and amazing facilities and allowing us to enjoy quality time with our closest friends and family. All we can say is that it was “meant to be” and our dreams came true at Boxted.

We cannot say enough about the support and help we received from Guy beforehand and throughout the weekend; he did everything he could to make things the best they could be. You will be in very safe hands!

This was my daughters ‘looked forward to’ 50th birthday weekend. Boxted Hall is a most interesting house, with modern facilities where needed, providing every comfort within an historical building. Family displays of modern and ancient heritage added to the ambience, as did the roaring fires in the month of February. A black tie dinner evening was enhanced by the table setting of silver figurines and candelabra set out on the banquet tables. One of the best informative clay shoots and wonderful walks on the estate were enjoyed by the many. Guy was always on hand being everything you would hope from an attentive owner. A perfect week-end.

What a fabulous place this is! A stunning setting for anything your heart desires – be it a big bash, an intimate weekend get-away or a family vacation. This beautiful and well cared for Country House can be the backdrop for it all. The grounds are stunning and the house is beautiful, with an excellent attention to detail without being overbearing or unmanageable. It has been a delight to be a guest for a long weekend and I really hope to come back again.

What a paradise!!!! I went there last weekend with 28 family members including four small children and we had a ball. The House itself was stunning with lots of beautiful bedrooms, mostly with ensuites. We were all able to sit at the dining table together in the magnificent dining room. The house was exceedingly spacious set in beautiful gardens with a moat surrounding the house. Views from all sides of the house were wonderful. The facilities also included an outdoor swimming pool and tennis courts with large grounds where we played cricket and croquet. The kitchen was extremely well laid out with everything possible we could need including two dishwashers. We spent a good part of the weekend outside as the weather was so good but inside we also had several sitting rooms, a pool room and a small tv room to relax . We would certainly consider returning to this house for another weekend as even with this large group the place felt very spacious and beautiful
