Cowdray House, a Manor House to RentA large manor house is the perfect place to escape for a glorious weekend break, party or holiday. Our collections of manor houses offer a range of properties for private-hire from all over the country, from the bays of Cornwall, to the heather-hazed peaks of North Scotland.

All of our manor houses are for exclusive use, so are wonderfully private for you to enjoy your holiday or event. Manor houses tend to be much larger than typical country cottages, and have great reception rooms: panelled dining rooms so all of your party can eat together, games rooms for ferocious billiard or table-tennis competitions, large, comfortable kitchens, sitting rooms and drawing rooms.

View Manor Houses

Quite a few of our manor houses have hot tubs or private swimming pools, and every single house has beautiful outside space for evening drinks, or for children to play in.

Manor houses were once, of course, family houses, and offer flexible accommodation. Most houses have attic and nursery rooms, perfect for children (or loud teenagers), or main bedrooms are usually large enough for a baby’s cot. There are also plenty of bathrooms and loos, and quite often more than one kitchen space.

Dogs are welcome at the majority of our houses, and often have a heated boot-room to flop in, when the hectic partying becomes too much. Some of our houses also have stables for horses, should you wish to explore any of the local area on horse-back (Plas Dinam, in mid-Wales, offers some particularly good hacking).

Manor houses tend to be part of larger estates, and at the very least have large gardens. Our houses offer many country activities, such as game and clay shooting, walking and foraging (this last one usually with a guide, who handily turns into a cook).

Most houses will allow self-catering and can recommend local caterers, so that you can do as much or as little cooking as you please.

A Word From Edmund

Manor houses are a very special part of our heritage, each quite literally built from the communities around them. Renting a manor house is economical, too – quite often if a house is at capacity, the fee per night per person is often less than a mid-range B&B (and far cheaper than the prices of a boutique hotel). A manor house bargain!
