Berry House stands among open countryside in its pretty garden, looking towards the coast at Hartland. The pebble beach is within walking distance as is the village with its excellent pub. North Devon is renowned for it’s surfing beaches and these are within easy driving distance too.
The downstairs rooms are large and ideal for big groups. The sitting room has plenty of comfortable sofas and an open fire. The dining room is panelled and elegant with a table spacious enough for all your group to eat together in comfort and is delightful for special candlelit, celebration dinners. We can also recommend a local chef if you would like some help during your stay – ranging from drop off suppers that you can pop in the oven when it suits you, to a fabulous feast served for you in the dining room.
The kitchen with its flagstone floor and country kitchen vibe, has all the mod cons and plenty of equipment for large group catering. Leading from here is the sunny breakfast room with doors out to the walled courtyard and barbecue area. If you are bringing dogs with you, Berry House is ideal with a boot and utility room, opening onto a small enclosed area of the garden.
There are 10 spacious bedrooms arranged over the ground floor, first and second floor of the house. Two of the bedrooms and two bathrooms are on the ground floor, ideal if you have accessibility needs, or prefer a tucked away location in the house. On the first floor, 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, three of which are en-suite and on the second floor, three further bedrooms, with two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite. Three of the beds are zip and link, so can be either king size or twin beds, giving plenty of flexibility for your group.
Upstairs, the games room has a table football and pool table, and through the archway to the widescreen tv and corner sofa. Outside the enormous games barn is perfect for 5 a-side football, basketball or a game of table tennis. It’s an ideal area, come rain or shine. The hot tub is in the walled garden, which is sheltered and a peaceful place for after-dinner stargazing.
Berry House sits in a very popular part of North Devon and has lots of activities available. As well as trying your hand at surfing (equipment hire and lessons available locally) or just enjoying the fabulous golden beaches, there is the Tarka cycle trail, along an old railway line, through beautiful countryside, or perhaps you’ll enjoy walking along the south west coastal path, that stretches for miles.
If you fancy exploring the quaint villages in the area, you’ll be spoilt for choice, tea shops abound too! A day trip from Bideford to Lundy Island is a great way to see the wildlife and perhaps even some dolphins and basking sharks. The Big Sheep is a big hit with families as well as the world’s steepest water-powered cliff railway at Lynton.
