Set in the beautiful surroundings of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, Llanfendigaid Estate is an ideal place to gather family and friends and truly get away from it all.

At the heart of the Estate is Llanfendigaid House, a characterful country house surrounded by an acre of wooded gardens. The House has nine individually designed bedrooms, sleeping up to 18 guests, with a mix of family, twin, and super-king rooms, some enjoying wonderful views towards the sea. Inside, there are two comfortable reception rooms, a spacious kitchen suited to catering for larger groups and a generous dining room where everyone can come together for memorable meals and celebrations.

Beyond the Main House, the wider Llanfendigaid Estate comprises eight individual properties and can accommodate up to 43 guests in total. This makes it particularly well-suited to larger family gatherings, celebrations, reunions, and group stays, with guests able to enjoy being together while still having the privacy and flexibility of their own accommodation.

There is plenty to enjoy across the Estate, including a heated indoor swimming pool, table tennis, outdoor play areas and extensive gardens. Outside, guests can make the most of the BBQ and seating areas, explore the grounds or head to the fire pits and benches overlooking the sea, a wonderful spot to sit together and watch some truly incredible sunsets over the Welsh coast.

The Estate’s much-loved donkeys are also regular visitors, coming to Llanfendigaid for their holidays and adding even more character to a stay, particularly popular with younger guests.

The location is another real highlight. Award-winning golf is nearby, while Tonfanau railway station is within walking distance of the Estate, making it easy to leave the car behind and explore the coast by train, with direct links to Tywyn, Aberdyfi and Barmouth.

With space for up to 43 guests across eight properties, Llanfendigaid offers the rare combination of a large country estate experience with plenty of individual space, all within the spectacular landscape of Eryri and close to the beautiful Welsh coast.

Location and Things to Do

Llanfendigaid Estate enjoys a peaceful setting just off the A493 coastal road, close to Aberdyfi and surrounded by the dramatic landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park.

The coast, mountains and countryside are all within easy reach, making it an ideal base for walking, cycling, mountain biking, pony trekking and days spent exploring the outdoors. Aberdyfi, with its beautiful sandy beach, independent shops, cafes and award-winning golf course, is only a short journey away, while the wider area is dotted with historic castles, waterfalls, lakes and scenic walking routes.

Tonfanau railway station is around a mile from the Estate and within walking distance, giving guests the option to explore the coast without taking the car. Trains run along the Cambrian Coast Line to nearby Tywyn, Aberdyfi and Barmouth, with spectacular views along the way.

For something a little different, guests can also enjoy journeys on the Great Little Trains of Wales, including the nearby Talyllyn Railway, offering a wonderful way to experience the mountains, valleys and heritage of this beautiful part of Wales.

Absolutely beautiful spot, ideal for a laid back DIY wedding done to your spec. We set up our DJ package so some of the DJ guests could play the evening under a stretch tent. It’s our second of hopefully many trips, it really is the perfect place to have a weekend wedding.

A beautiful old estate with a selection of different sized self-catering buildings to choose from. We were a large family group, so took over most of the buildings, including three of the cottages, the pod AND the main house! They were all really well equipped, with washing machines, dishwashers, ice maker, ground coffee machines etc. The main house had two large fridge freezers, loads of crockery and a wealth of historical pictures, family trees and literature to peruse. The bathrooms all came with towels and hand wash, shampoo etc and there was plenty of them, so you never needed to queue. The bedrooms were also excellent with views over the Welsh countryside, although there is only one TV in the living room and none in the bedrooms, so if you’ve got children you might need a tablet for them to watch although there is free WiFi which was really good and I had no problem connecting even when everyone else was online. Overall, it is a beautiful house in gorgeous countryside and I would definitely stay again.

This place is extraordinary! It’s beautiful! There were fresh flowers in our cottage. The cottage was immaculately clean and everything in it. It was beautiful! The people who looked after us were charming and very kind. All in all, a truly wonderful experience! Thank you!

Shame our oven didnt work, had to cook next door for the whole trip!

Absolutely beautiful! The Cow Shed has just been a fantastic place for us and our dog. The location is fantastic, the pool is brilliant and the accommodation is just amazing!

We just came back from our second stay at Llanfendigaid.

Our first stay was in Dove Cottage which was a beautiful, cosy cottage and perfect for our little family with a 18 month old and dog. Our second stay was in Stable Cottage which was bigger, and still cosy and comfortable.

The estate is beautiful and well kept. Theres plenty of open space to walk around and at the top, little areas to have picnics, fires and relax whilst overlooking the sea and watching the sunsets.

The swimming pool was great! We didn’t spend a lot of time there but it was lovely to get our toddler into the water and it was very private as no other guests were using it when we did.

Gareth is on hand to help and answered my texts quickly regarding my issues with the WiFi (resolved quickly!) and kitchen lights.

The location is great and the perfect rest stop between some wonderful towns such as Aberdyfi and Barmouth. We ventured further afield to Betws y Coed too and stopped off in Machynlleth on the way back home to South Wales.

I would not hesitate to book to stay at Llanfendigaid again. It’s the perfect home away from home stay.

We stayed in the pod on the Llanfendigaid estate for 6 nights and had a great time.

The pod is small but acceptable for 2 people (and better than camping as it has a toilet and shower!)

Got given lots of useful information after booking, and a link to a site which has details of what’s in the pod, near the pod, travel tips/recommendations etc.

They were very responsive to my email questions regarding what was in the pod so we could pack efficiently.

The pod itself was very clean and new looking. Can park car right next to the pod so very easy to unload luggage.

The bed/pillows were comfy and there was enough utensils to be able to cook meals if required. (Note – the fridge is small but has enough space as long as you don’t bring a 4 pint of milk)

Was very peaceful and quiet (day or night), we loved hearing the sheep and birds.

The pod is in its own field and feels very private. There are many great places you can drive to for walks and amazing scenery. You can even see the sea from the pod decking!

15 mins walk to the nearest train station (Tonfanau). Really easy to get the train in any direction (around every 2 hours).

Great sunset views from the field just down the road (but watch out for the cows).

We didn’t get the chance to use the indoor swimming pool or table tennis table.

Tip – If you’re a light sleeper bring an eye mask as the pod does get very light once the sun comes up.

Some of the highlights from our trip were: Barmouth (and the Fairbourne Railway) Nantcol Waterfalls Clywedog Reservoir/Dam Rheilfford Talyllyn Railway Shell Island Hafren Forest

Wow what an incredible house! Stayed here as part of a large group with a charity organisation. Beds were really comfortable, lots of space to sit and relax with warm cosy fires. Great to have a swimming pool too. Outstanding countryside and lovely to be able to walk to the station and beach 15 minutes away. Would love to stay here again with the family. Would highly recommend for large groups

We had an amazing time at Llanfendigaid Estate! The hosts were super welcoming and quick to respond to any questions we had. The location couldn’t be better; just a short 15 minute drive to the beach, lakes, rivers, and even waterfalls. It’s the perfect spot if you love nature. The estate is huge, with beautiful gardens and a fantastic pool. We also loved stargazing at night; the sky was filled with stars and of course the weather helped. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.

We enjoyed a pleasant and peaceful stay at Llanfendigaid. The cottage (Stable) was very well-equipped and comfortable overall. The grounds are also very nice, and we enjoyed using the indoor swimming pool. There are some great views out to the Irish Sea when you climb to the hilltop.

We didn’t meet any of the staff whilst we were here, but it felt easy to contact someone if we needed to.

An absolute gem. Lisa, Gareth and the team are creating a little bit of quiet paradise in the most beautiful of settings. We stayed in Stable Cottage which sleeps 4, beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms. Downstairs is lovely and cosy, open plan so great for cooking, chatting and generally hanging out. There is a fantastic pool house with glorious views and other lovely hidden parts of the estate like the bench and fire pit overlooking the sea. This was our first but certainly not our last visit.

This was the most peaceful and relaxing place I’ve been in such a long time. If you want a complete escape from a busy life, then you can find it here. It’s so quiet and the grounds and gardens have had years of tending, plus new areas for bees and butterflies etc There’s a mature wood you can walk through up to a bench overlooking the sea. …..you can just hideaway and go for walks. ( DOGS WELCOME !!!! ) The owners go above and beyond with such an eye for style and detail – you have all the joy of mod cons in amongst the original and traditional features – you can see they are really caring for the place with huge love. The star gazing is amazing due to no light pollution. The indoor heated pool is such a treat. If you do want to venture out, there are gorgeous beaches a short drive away. The one we went to was pretty much deserted ( great for doggo ) and loads of lovely places with coffee shops and cafes. I just love it !

Superb. Location is brilliant, owners are very friendly and the facilities are top.

Incredible view of the sea from the gardens.

We had the most incredible weekend stay in the Shepherds Hut. The location was an absolute dream with countryside views all around plus a great view out to sea.

The hut had so many thoughtful touches throughout and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. With a comfy bed, fast Wifi, indoor and outdoor seating, bbq, and the added bonus of an indoor swimming pool and the grounds to explore. Plus plenty of places to visit on your doorstep.

Would fully recommend a stay here or at any other property’s on-site as it’s a just an amazing location.

Beautiful historic house. All original features still in place. Exceptional grounds with many lovely walks in and nearby. Train station and beach 20 min walk. Dog friendly. A place to relax and recharge.

We had a fantastic time staying here. The owners Gareth and Lisa had gone out of their way to make our stay as wonderful as possible. The main house was perfect for a family get together. Beautiful house. Very comfortable beds, warm and more than enough hot water. We really enjoyed the stunning surroundings. Birds rock and a walk by the dysinni river are a must. I had a great time mooching around the antique shops in Tywyn and Machynlleth too. My mum stayed in the cow shed cottage. Newly reburbished beautifully. I’ve taken home some interior design tips! Some lovely dog walks and cycle routes around the house’s extensive grounds. Overall a truly memorable stay in a beautiful house with stunning surroundings.

A large house but took a long time to heat up at this time of the year. We went for a long walk to the beach and used the pool on site which was very good. Also went down the coast on the train to a local town. Overall a good and very enjoyable experience.

Absolutely loved the whole experience surroundings were stunning we will certainly come back again

Loved our 5 days here. Very quiet and tranquil. Lovely walk down to the beach and a walk behind the house opposite up a hill to overlook the sea. Loved watching the sun set from here. Sheep in the next field to us very nice new swimming pool to use at a little cost. Would definitely recommend and visit again

Graham and his team made us feel so welcome! It was home from home. With access to the pool 24hrs and Ian on call for what ever we needed we thoroughly enjoyed our stay….they even managed to extend our stay with no fuss at all. The views, peace and quite was just what we needed with space for the kids to run around and burn some energy off.

Stayed for a week at the Cow Shed. Lovely building and great location. Enjoyed the table tennis table and pool. The views from the top of the hill just behind the house are great. The place is very clean and the beds are really comfy.

We had a great holiday here. The house is super big and clean. The kitchen and dining room can cater large group.

Stunning location, accommodation brilliant for a family get together to celebrate a special birthday. House is huge and with 6 young children and 9 adults it was just perfect with plenty of room to escape the noise! We all slept well in very comfortable beds but found all the settees uncomfortable, tired and difficult to get off!! The dining table was just perfect and was home to evenings of playing Articulate with much fun especially with a drink or too. Walking distance to the train stop and we used this to go to Barmouth, but you could use it to get to many locations including Birmingham New Street. Had a great day out ( the only sunny day of the week) in Aberdovey which had everything for a seaside trip including crabbing and donkeys and retains its charm. The house is about 15 minutes drive to Tywyn but is otherwise in the middle of the country so we did an online shop with Asda for when we arrived. Internet access was almost impossible but it was great to have a break from it. All in all it was just perfect and when Graham the site manage retrieved our dry washing from the washing line just before it rained I don’t think you could wish for anything better. Haven’t given 5* because of the settees.

Stayed 14 times previously during the 1980’s and 90’s, the main house has been upgraded sympathetically through modernisation of the bathrooms shower rooms and cloakrooms. The addition of log burners a welcome feature too.

However nothing has been done to ensure the Aga in the kitchen is available for use, yet is a part of the rental agreement. A range cooker with two ovens can’t cater effectively for 17 when one of the ovens is not working, as was our experience throughout our 10day stay from 14th to 24th April 2018.

There is no phone signal at all and the broadband provision is unreliable.

The garden steps are now in a dangerous condition and require urgent attention to make them safe, currently they are an accident waiting to happen.

Despite these negative comments I would book again … I trust that action is taken to rectify the concerns raised”

Wonderful house, in gorgeous countryside, walks from your door and fantastic pool! Makes for a great holiday! Thank you

The property is amazing, amazing location and a fabulous price. The beds are so cosy and warm there is no worry about a bad nights sleep. The pool is a great bonus and is big enough for what you need from a relaxing holiday. The contact we had for organising this was great and made us feel even happier about coming here from my hen party. The WiFi is pretty iffy in the house but nothing you can’t sort from a little walk on the hills to get 4G. I would definitely go back here again, I’ve made some everlasting memories here. Thank you

18 of us stayed in the main house for my 40th birthday celebrations and had an amazing time. The house was perfect for us, ages ranged from 2 – 70 and the place was big enough for us to share time together and to escape for peace and quiet when needed! Beds were comfy, the house was spotlessly clean, the kitchen was well equipped and the swimming pool helped ease our aching bones after climbing Snowdon… Our only regret is that we couldn't stay longer!

24 of us stayed at Llanfendigaid estate from Wednesday till Monday. We had booked the main house as well as the two cottages and the cowshed. All of us thought it was absolute perfection. The rooms were stunning with very comfortable beds. When you woke up in the morning you could hear the sea and the birds. The surroundings are stunning. The pool is such a nice addition. All properties are superbly equipped but if you needed anything extra Graham the grounds manager is very friendly and always there to help. The booking process was also very easy and it was lovely to meet the owner upon our arrival. The place is buzzing with history which is reflected in the main house. If you are thinking of booking this place, stop thinking and book, there is no possible way anyone will have any regrets after a stay here.

We have recently stayed at this fantastic house. Due to a large number of us we rented not only the main house but also both Dove Cottages and the brand new Cowshed. The accommodation was fantastic, the properties all very well laid out and furnished and very clean. Properties were warm and welcoming and we look forward to returning soon. Must also thank Graeme for the warm welcome! Many thanks,

We had such a brilliant family holiday here. It's in a lovely spot and the house is amazing – so much space. Would definitely recommend it

emmyh86

16 of us stayed at Llanfendigaid for my hen weekend during the last weekend of June. Our first "wow" moment was approaching the house up the beautiful drive, not to mention the stunning scenery surrounding the house.

This initial "wow" moment was to be followed by many more…

The house is everything we expected and more. Beautiful, old and ornate, with lots of original pieces of art and furniture. It was spotlessly clean when we arrived.

The bedrooms are stunning, each one different with it’s own character and story. We had so much fun exploring all the many nooks and crannies. The beds are superbly comfortable with crisp white bed linnen and fluffy feather pillows.

The kitchen and dining room are huge and there is plently room for all. There are 2 fabulous reception rooms which also have plently space.

The outdoor space is great- a huge lawn which had the sun all day. The gardens are kept beautifully and are very private.

The pool was spotless, we enjoyed a welcome dip on our first morning- just lovely.

Will was great from the moment we booked until the end of our stay, as was Graham, the site manager- who ensured our stay was perfect and comfortble at all times.

On the Saturday evening we used "the tasty catering company" to cater a fabulous meal for us. The food was second to none and we would definitely recommend Sonia and her team if you want a hassle free, catered delicious meal as part of your stay.

All in all, our expectations were exceeded at this stunnng property. Highly recommended to any group of friends/ family who seek a tranquil, comfortbale, fun retreat. You will not be disappointed!

We will most definitely be returning for the "Henniversary!!"

I stayed in the main house with 12 other ladies for my hen weekend. It was perfect Will (the owner) and the care taker were very hospitable to ensure we had a wonderful time. The house is beautiful in lovely surroundings. The real fires were lovely. Even in January the house was warm. There was plenty of space for us all to natter and eat together. Comfy beds and a pool. The amenities were also great. The house has so much history too. We all enjoyed reading about it. Places to visit near by was a bit tricky in January. But we did visit Tywyn and also Corris where we painted pots and made candles. They opened specifically for us though as they are not normally open. The cross foxes pub near corris was very nice too . We visited on the Sunday on our way home for a late dinner. Would highly recommend llanfendigaid and would love to go back.

This place is just amazing: -ideal for corporate escapes – we were 18pax split into main house and stable Fully equipped kitchen, a lot of art on the walls, wifi You can easily forget about the world in here – most of days we have spent with a lot of activities like rock climbing, canoeing, mine discovering. A lot of thrill and emotions provided by Arthog. You could really learn yourself and test your limits

15 girls had an amazing weekend for my hen. The house was easy to find, in a beautiful setting and was the perfect party and chill out house. The beds are so comfy with feather duvets. Only one tiny bug, not enough loo roll for 15 girls so bring some extra with you! Apart from that the house had everything!!

Despite these negative comments I would book again … I trust that action is taken to rectify the concerns raised"
