I cannot praise The Gitcombe Estate highly enough. My wife, our 8-week-old son, and I stayed here recently, and we were genuinely sad to leave such a beautiful countryside retreat. When we arrived, we received a warm welcome from the owners, Peter and Rodney, who were happy to answer any questions we had. Our cottage, Yennadon Cottage, was immaculately clean and well presented. It features two spacious bedrooms, a family bathroom, and an en-suite. The open-plan kitchen, dining, and lounge area is bright and spacious, with a balcony overlooking part of the estate and the surrounding countryside, allowing us to fully appreciate the nature and beauty of the location. The amenities made our stay even more enjoyable, particularly the outdoor swimming pool and hot tub, both of which offer breathtaking views across Dartmoor. The estate itself is impeccably maintained. The lawns, mature trees, and colourful flowers all contribute to a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere. With no noise pollution whatsoever, all we could hear is the birds and the gentle rustling of the trees, making it incredibly easy for us to switch off and relax. The location is also ideal, with a supermarket less than 15 minutes away and Blackpool Sands Beach only a 20-minute drive, it gave us the best of both countryside tranquillity and nearby attractions. Every detail reflects the care and thought that has gone into creating such a special place, from the immaculate grounds to the eco-friendly cookware provided in the cottage. We genuinely felt valued as a guest and well looked after throughout our stay. We will most definitely be returning. The photographs simply don’t do The Gitcombe Estate justice—it is even more beautiful in person and truly is a memorable place to stay.

Great place to stay with families. Everything is on site including indoor and outdoor pools, hot tub, tennis court, playground etc. But also inside we had everything we needed including a washer/dryer, changing mat, travel cot, bed guards and all kitchen equipment. All parents, children and grandchildren catered for. Lovely big fridge freezer. The garden house had enough rooms and bathrooms for us all. Emma was also a text away if you needed anything. And also Peter was often on site too. So friendly and helpful. Granddaughter said she would give 5 stars and we agree!

Incredibly beautiful setting. We stayed in Gitcombe House over New Years, everyone from elderly family to the kids had an exquisite experience. Facilities were put to great use from sauna to the tennis court, all amongst stunning rolling hills that surround the premises. Friendly and helpful staff, everyone from Peter to the charming dog Wilson, would strongly reccomend booking a stay with them!

Kind regards, Josh
