Plas Dinam, Llandinam, Powys, SY17 5DG
Plas Dinam was designed and built in 1873 by London-based architect, W.E. Nesfield for his client, Captain Offley Crewe-Read. The house was sold in 1884 to David Davies, an admirable Victorian entrepreneur, who made his fortune in the railway and mining industries. Two of his descendants – Gwendoline and Margaret Davies – went on to become great art patrons, establishing collections of Welsh, and national, importance. The property remains in the Davies’ family.
Plas Dinam is a big house, sleeping 32 in flexible accommodation. It has 15 bedrooms with 10 bathrooms, plus a grand dining room, drawing room (excellent for dancing), big kitchen and comfortable sitting room. There is also stabling for up to 5 horses.
The house sits in 13 acres of gardens and lawns, surrounded by beautiful views of the Llandinam Hills. Plas Dinam has plenty of room for outside games, including a tennis court and croquet lawn.
There is a huge variety of things to do in the area; walking, horse riding, fishing, game shooting, clay shooting, trail hunting, mountain biking (free-riding), sailing, kite surfing and golf. The landlord can arrange any activity you choose, plus transport if necessary.
