Landed Houses guests have exchanged over 50 messages with Plas Y Bryn in the last 12 months.
Plas Y Bryn is a magnificent 18th-century manor house that blends the elegance of the past with the practicality of the present. This stunning property is situated above Caernarfon, a town recognised as a World Heritage Site. It has been thoughtfully arranged to house up to 96 guests in 41 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, including six rooms on the ground floor specially made for visitors with restricted mobility.
The centrepiece of the manor is the stunning Lloyd George function room, which demonstrates how well the venue can accommodate big gatherings. This magnificent venue was thoughtfully designed to accommodate large gatherings while maintaining a cosy atmosphere. It offers lovely views of the immaculate grounds. A large lounge, a formal dining room and a well-stocked bar are just a few of the well-appointed common areas on the property.
Guests can have fun in numerous ways, including a mini-casino and a games room with a snooker table. Each of the three connected buildings on the property has a fully functional kitchen, which allows guests to cook in more ways. In addition to two additional game rooms for entertainment, multiple outdoor spaces are designated for barbecuing.
In 2025, 11 more ensuite bedrooms were added, increasing the property’s capacity to host 114 guests. Much attention has been paid to maintaining period details while ensuring the property is suitable for contemporary living.

“Plas Y Bryn sits on the hill above Caernarfon, on the edge of Snowdonia and the World Heritage castle town. With 41 bedrooms across three separate buildings, it’s one of the largest houses we have – and the Lloyd George function room (rather aptly named for the area) takes 120 for a sit-down.”

I stayed here for three nights. Quiet and as all i needed was a room to crash in, and I had my laptop with me, it was passable. However, be careful. If you expect any level of customer care other than a member of staff looking at their phone, a decent breakfast (I never ate here as breakfast was poor) or milk with your coffee or shampoo in your en suite bathroom, then go somewhere else. Saying that, if you want a quite room at a reasonable price that is adequate, and bring all you need with you, then this should remain an option.

When we arrived the hotel looked lovely as you walked in, when we went to our room i found some damage to plaster around the door, massive cracks right up the corners of the walls, black marks over the walls, toilet seat came off in my hand and a serious ammount of thick mould in our shower. I went down to reception and told the lady on the desk, whos english wasnt the best. Her reply just astonished me, she said “not nice” whilst laughing and when i replied no not nice she laughed again and walked away. Obviously i was worried about being charged for the damage that was already there (all of it) but could not get a reply off booking.com or the hotel. The breakfast was nice although you are sat on 1 big table with all the other guests, not good if you have social issues. Also be aware there is no bar and nowhere at the hotel to get food, you have to go out to get supplies.

If you’re looking for a nice place to stay with clean rooms and great service, keep looking and avoid this place. The staff barely speak a word of English – if they even bother to look up from their phones to greet you at all. The rooms are small and filthy. If you book a room in the annex, you will have a very long walk from the car to your room with your baggage – and no-one will help you carry any of it because the staff really cannot be bothered. The ‘cooked’ full English breakfast will be brought to you within a minute or two, because they clearly just microwave it from frozen. It tastes freezer burnt and dreadful. Bread is just dumped on the breakfast table with no covering and flies everywhere. If you do eat anything at all, make sure you check the dates, especially the yoghurt, mine was two weeks off. There are no TVs in ANY of the rooms and parking is at a premium. If you come back late in the evening, there’s nowhere to park. For what they charge per night, you’re better off booking in to the Premier Inn in Caernarfon. We cut our stay short and moved out to the Premier Inn – SO much better.

Very loud party hotel. DO NOT STAY if you are looking for a quiet night or have an early morning ahead for hikes etc. my room was vibrating due to the music, I spoke to management and they advised ‘they’re also paying guests’ and nothing was done, not even a substitute room away from the party. Felt like sleeping in my car. Not what you want after a 4 hour drive. Rooms are small too, for the price of definitely go elsewhere.

If you like the face-less, soul-less anonymity of chain hotels, then this is one not for you… Plas Y Bryn Manor Hotel (the former home of Ex Prime-minister Lloyd George) oozes history, from the narrow single track lane leading up to the manor, to the impressive dining table and seating area in the entrance hall. I could only get a single room (due to demand at the height of summer), but it was spotlessly clean and the bed really comfortable (for a single bed). The bathroom had recently been kitted out and again was spotless. Breakfast was cooked to order and was really tasty, with lots of other options available to help yourself (cereals, toast juices). Not your average hotel so keep an open mind when you arrive and enjoy the uniqueness of staying in this fantastic historical building. I’d definitely return for another visit.

Great place to stay for a large party of 20, with kids of ages 2 through to 10. Good to have lots of ground floor rooms for those with little ones & older folks with limited mobility. Nice private garden areas with bbq & safe for kids to explore. Well situated for family activites such as Gypsy Wood, GreenWood, Pili Palas, Zip world & activities like kayaking (Paradise Adventures on Llyn Padarn) and riding (Snowdonia Riding Stables). House was clean, clean bedding, towels & nice waterfall showers. Kitchen big, well equipped and lots of storage space. Ample room for dining and relaxing. We do a big family holiday every year so have a lot of places to compare with this place & all boxes were happily ticked. Would recommend to a large family group.

A few minor items for the snagging list but generally the venue is very good. Peaceful area, very scenic. Venue well equipped/maintained. Very comfortable beds! 4th venue we’ve tried from this co and all have been great.

Fabulous stay at Plas Y Bryn! The rooms are super clean and confortable, each with its own en-suite shower room. The kitchen is very big and well equipped, and the living room large but cosy. The game rooms are perfect for children and really fun for big groups. Great location a short drive away from fabulous hikes in Snowdonia, from the beach and from cultural sites (Caernarfon). Would love to go back!
