Humming a Pet Shop Boys classic as you pass through the imposing electronic entry gates, you arrive at this splendid country house, to be greeted by the scent of warm freshly baked bread, presented alongside a well-stocked welcome hamper for you and your hound. Welcome to West End Farm.

Having recently undergone an extensive £2 million renovation, West End Farm is now a ‘best of both worlds’ estate, boasting imposing English country majesty, refined with landscaped grounds and enticing entertainment, inside and out.

Think of it as your very own county pad, a place designed with one thing in mind; to give you and up to 16 lucky guests some seriously luxurious enjoyment, whether you’re catching up with friends or hosting that family reunion.

The sleeping set up is as follows: The main West End Farm house has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. Attached to the house is The Lodge, a delightfully quaint two-bedroom, one bathroom property with its own kitchen and living room. Which makes the Farm perfect for large families with children, or even multiple families who fancy their own separate space. We’ll leave you to figure out who sleeps where.

If you love cooking, you’re in for a treat. The kitchen is handmade in oak, and well-equipped enough to make sure you impress even the most demanding guests. Make sure you plan your menus to include something flamed, as the charcoal barbeque will give you the perfect excuse for some alfresco entertaining.

Prefer to subcontract the cheffery? No problemo. The nearby towns offer a host of different delivery options. Or you can simply head out to one of the many rustic local pubs.

The private grounds are the ideal territory to unleash the kids and dogs, letting them explore the trails and rolling hills, or meet the resident fish.

The terraces also offer multiple outdoor seating areas where you can sit and soak up the evening sun, or enjoy a tipple while watching the horses and sheep in the fields nearby. You could get used to this…

About the location

The Farm is ideally situated for Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield, with the M1 just over an hour away for those travelling from the South and beyond. Want to make getting there part of the adventure? Driffield train station is just down the road, served by regular trains from York and Hull.

Head for some retail therapy in nearby York (less than an hour away) or take in the delights of Pickering.

Further afield, intrepid vampire fans can make a pilgrimage to Bram Stoker’s inspiration for Dracula, the coastal town of Whitby, in just over an hour. The beach at Bridlington is only 20 mins by car, and a superb place for a bracing dog walk, whatever the weather.
