House Information

The Walcot Hall Estate, in Lincolnshire, is a Georgian country house ideal for weekend parties of friends, or a special family celebration.  It also works well for weddings, and the staff enjoy helping guests create their perfect day.

The main house has seven bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor (and uses the kitchen cloakroom). There are five generous and beautifully decorated bedrooms on the first floor, two of which have their own en-suite. The remaining first-floor three bedrooms share a large bathroom. There are a further two bedrooms in the attic, which work very well as a family suite for young children. The second of the attic bedrooms, leads off the first, and they share a bathroom.

There is further accommodation on the estate, at the nearby self-contained cabin, Snowdrop Lodge (with bathroom and living area). The lodge sleeps 2 adults, then a further 2 adults and 2 children can stay at Apple Blossom – fun, Yurt-inspired camping with a bathroom annexe.

Downstairs, there’s lots of room for whatever you might have planned. The dining room and drawing room open off a large entrance hall, and can be used for both formal dinners, or more informal cocktails-and-dancing. There’s a kitchen and breakfast table (with a separate laundry room), then a comfortable sitting room, and a conservatory to catch the afternoon sun.

The house is set in 27 acres of grounds, with lovely, spacious lawns to play on (or walk around, should you be in a more sedate mood). There’s an all-weather tennis court, and a seating area with an above-ground pool, for paddling, or cooling off hot children.

Location

The Walcot Hall Estate is in the North Lincolnshire village of Alkborough, about 20 minutes’ taxi drive from Scunthorpe (which has a main-line train station). The estate can be easily reached from both the M18 and the M62.

Things to Do

Alkborough itself is a sweet place to explore, there’s an ancient Norman church, Roman remains, a tea room and a cricket club. A short drive away are the towns of Scunthorpe, Hull, Brigg, Barton-Upon-Humber and Grimsby, with lots to see and do. There are plenty of walk and cycle routes from the estate, the house is not far from the junction of three rivers – the Ouse, the Humber, and
the Trent.

Weddings

The hall works very well for weddings, and can seat up to 80 indoors for a ceremony. Please do contact the hall for further details.
