Croxton Lodge is part of the Croxton Park Estate, in Leicestershire. The lodge shares a courtyard with another holiday house, the Curlew’s Nest. Each of the properties has 4 bedrooms, sleeping up to 16 guests.

Croxton Lodge is arranged as an upside-down house, and has the bedrooms on the ground floor. Each of the four bedrooms have an en-suite, two of the bedrooms are twins, and have a roll-top bath.

Further on from the bedrooms, there is a comfortable sitting room, and a games room with a snooker table. There’s a further, separate shower room and loo, on the ground floor.

Upstairs, there’s a large sitting room, with a dining table and a bar, for any cocktail fantasists. There’s a small, practical kitchen.

The Curlew’s Nest has a more traditional layout, with the bedrooms (all en-suite) on the first floor,

Both the Lodge and the Curlew’s Nest share a gravelled courtyard with a big, outside table and BBQ. Guests are welcome to walk and play in the grounds of the Croxton estate.

About the Location

The Croxton Park Estate is just outside the village of Croxton Kerrial, in Leicestershire. It’s four miles from Belvoir Castle (home of the Duchess), and near to the market town of Grantham. Grantham has a main-line train service, and is about 40 minutes taxi drive from the estate.

Things To Do

The Lodge and Curlews’ Nest were once part of a country sport estate, and the area is very much set up for hunting or shooting. There are some lovely, local walks, and a decent pub, The Geese and Fountain, in Croxton Kerrial.

Melton Mowbray is about 15 minutes away by car, and is known for celebrating its excellent pork pies and Stilton cheeses.

House Facts

Croxton Park Estate was originally an Abbey from the 12th century and then later, the early Dukes of Rutland used the estate to enjoy country sports, such as shooting and fishing. Both Croxton Lodge and Curlews Nest have been renovated by the current Duchess of Rutland.
