Nestled amongst period farm buildings, wildflower meadows and stunning countryside, this charming bunkhouse sleeps 22 in 5 bedrooms with ample space for everyone to spread out and relax.
The main building is a feast for the senses, boasting colourful artwork, handcrafted textiles, and a stunning 200-year-old stained-glass window.
The heart of the home is a large, well-equipped kitchen, perfect for big sociable meals. You can choose to have your groceries delivered, or indulge in a private chef to come in or deliver pre-made meals.
Downstairs, you’ll find three versatile bedrooms, including twin-bunk rooms and a larger bunk room ideal for families.

Upstairs, there’s a sunny bedroom with space for 8 more guests. A cosy sitting room provides a relaxing haven with comfy sofas, a TV, and a delightful library of books and games.
Just next door to the main house is a beautifully renovated, super-cosy Shepherd’s hut sleeping 2.
Outside there’s a small sunny garden and patio area, surrounded by 500 eco-friendly acres including meadows, ponds, woodland, a farm trail, and lots and lots of wildlife. Keen cooks can enjoy fresh-picked herbs from the herb garden just outside the back door.
There’s more than enough to do when you stay. Try a spot of birdwatching, go pond dipping, get lost in a book, capture the scenery with your camera or paintbrush, enjoy a picnic, or have a unique wine-tasting experience in our woodland. On summer evenings enjoy BBQs, ping-pong tournaments, croquet matches, badminton battles, or table football competitions.
There are also plenty of excellent pubs within cycling distance using one of the 20 adult bikes available.

Location
The Old Brooder is around 10 minutes from historic Lavenham, one of England’s most important and best-preserved medieval villages.
London is around 1.25 hours by train. Sudbury is the nearest (tiny) train station, around 15 minutes away. Colchester station is around 30 minutes, with regular trains to and from Liverpool Street. Bury St Edmunds station is around 25 minutes away if travelling from the Midlands and the North.
Stansted Airport is just over an hour away.

Lace up your walking boots or grab a bike – The Old Brooder is the perfect base for exploring Suffolk’s stunning landscapes. Cycle the peaceful South Suffolk Coast Route on one of our 20+ adult bikes, tackling our Wool Village quiz along the way. We also have planned circular routes for both cycling and walking, letting you explore at your own pace.
Feeling more adventurous? Take a Kayak down the scenic River Stour, unleash your inner Tarzan at Go Ape Thetford Forest, or soak up the seaside charm of the Suffolk Coast.
