Open the original stained-glass front door and you enter a grand hallway, setting the tone for your stay. There’s plenty of space for everyone to relax and socialise, whether you’re gathered around a crackling fire in the elegant dining room (seating 16) or tucked away in a cosy corner with a good book.

The large, farmhouse-style kitchen breakfast room is the heart of this house. Here, a giant four-oven Aga keeps things cosy while you cook up delicious meals for your group. There’s all the equipment you need to cater for a crowd, or if you prefer to relax, you can even arrange for a private chef.

After a day spent exploring, unwind by the fire in the spacious drawing room with wonderful sea views, or escape to the cosy snug for board games or a relaxing nap.

Downstairs in the cellars, there’s a wonderful vaulted billiard room with a full-sized table, and a wine cellar to store your favourite tipple.

There are eight luxurious bedrooms, most with en-suite bathrooms and stunning countryside views. One bedroom is conveniently located downstairs.

Whether you’re seeking a quiet corner to curl up with a book or a space to gather with loved ones, this house caters to every mood.

Outside there are 11 acres of glorious grounds with plenty of space for hide and seek or treasure hunts, games, or just finding a quiet spot to get lost in a good book.

On warm summer evenings there are several wonderful outdoor dining areas where you can eat, drink, chat and make the most of the wonderful views to Weymouth Bay.

Things To Do

With Weymouth and the Jurassic Coast just down the road, there’s plenty of things to do and see. The only difficulty will be deciding what to do first!

Weymouth’s award-winning beach has 3 miles of golden sands, perfect for swimming, building sandcastles or rock pooling. If you like to mess about on the water, you can also enjoy a huge range of water sports and boat trips along the stunning Jurassic coastline.

There are lots of coastal walks nearby, with Dorset’s famous Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door just 25 minutes on foot from the house.

Wildlife lovers will enjoy the adjoining Lorton Meadows Nature Reserve, where you can amble through acres of ancient meadows and woodland.

Weddings

With grand rooms, stunning views and sweeping grounds as your backdrop, Lorton House is the perfect place to spend your special day. The venue is licensed for intimate weddings for up to 16 guests.
