Henge Estate

At first glance, Henge Estate appears to be an imposing Georgian manor, constructed from gorgeous honey coloured stone in the style of the era. Delve a little deeper and you’ll discover a host of charming quirks and clever 21st Century comforts.

Built in 1830, the Manor House has been recently renovated to a high standard by the current owners, now offering an exceptional country escape for up to 24 guests in nine ensuite bedrooms.

Set in 25 acres of magnificent Wiltshire countryside near Stonehenge & Salisbury, the Estate makes for an idyllic backdrop for weddings, corporate gatherings and that family get-together you’ll talk about for years to come.

There’s eclectic, English country decor throughout, the generous ground floor living spaces including a large kitchen that centres around the old Aga, a drawing room, a dining room (seating for five to 24 people), a sitting room, a library with a private bathroom and shower (for people or dogs. Yep, you read that correctly), a laundry room and a basement games room.

Head out into the extensive private gardens and lose yourself in the timeless walled ‘secret garden’ next to the house, complete with a large lawn area for sunbathing, reading and relaxing. If all that sounds too energetic, there’s also a hot tub beside the house, and a 14ft above-ground pool on the front lawn, with a 5ft high fence and gate.

‘The Glade’ sits behind an old yew tree perfect for climbing, and it is a hidden playground for children with a trampoline, swings, sandpit, playhouse and picnic area. A 1.5km woodland path, the ‘Groggie Way’, has also been created behind the house and is suitable for walking, wheelchairs, bicycles, and dog walks.

The front of the house has a large flat lawn, which can be used for cartwheels, sprinting races and other games. Equipment supplied includes two large football nets, cricket set, croquet set, giant Jenga, mini golf and more. There are stables and a field available for guests wanting to bring a horse, and a pony club for riding and ‘own a pony’ days a short distance from the Henge Estate.

About the location

Henge Estate lies on the edge of the Salisbury Plain, six minutes’ drive from Stonehenge and 23 minutes’ drive from Salisbury. It is approximately a two-hour drive from central London, and is also accessible by train to Andover or Salisbury.

Things to do

The estate’s central location means visitors have a wealth of options to explore, right on their doorstep. Head to Wiltshire, Hampshire, Dorset or Somerset, or make a bee line for Bath, Marlborough, Winchester, Southampton or Shaftesbury. Before recovering with a well-earned drink and a comfy sofa, back at Henge Estate.

Weddings

The elegance, privacy and history make Henge Estate the ideal country wedding venue. Wedding ceremonies can take place at St Mary’s ancient Norman Church in Shrewton or the registry office in Salisbury, with the party congregating at Henge Estate for a romantic wedding reception set in the historic grounds or house.
