Great Oak Park is near Guildford, Surrey, and is a beautiful country house built in a light-filled Gothic style. It’s suitable for parties of family or friends, and works very well for corporate and business use.
The house sleeps up to 16 guests in 8 bedrooms, two of which are ensuite. The master bedroom includes a dressing room and a fabulous sunken bath for Cleopatra fantasies. Four of the rooms on the first floor share a large family bathroom (one of these rooms is a twin).
There are two further rooms on the top floor, ideal for use as a family suite. One is a very large double, then there is a smaller twin. Both share a wet room.
Downstairs, there’s a large dining room (easily seating 16), a well-equipped kitchen and a breakfast room that catches the morning sun. There is also a large living room, with plenty of space for games of Twister. Should you wish to dance, there’s a 900 sq ft dance studio, with mirrors, disco lights and sound system.
Within the studio is a 9 ft cinema screen, which upgrades movie night, rather.
Outside, there’s a south facing terrace, with BBQ, overlooking the English countryside. Beyond the terrace is a 50ft swimming pool with a diving board. Beside the pool is the hot tub, and a Finnish pine sauna/steam room.
For guests keen to display their racquet skills, there’s a well-loved tennis court, for a friendly knock-about.
The house is set within 5 acres of parkland and has a further 15 acres of paddocks. It’s reached by almost a mile-long driveway.
Edmund’s Choice of Extraordinary Feature
“Driving down the drive of this house, you can’t help but notice the very Englishness of the surrounding countryside. You half-expect a haywain and the odd knight around every corner.”
