Enquiries go straight to the owner. If anything goes wrong, we’ll step in. And because owners pay us a flat listing fee, you pay nothing extra.

Ingoldisthorpe Hall has been listed with us since 2018.

Ingoldisthorpe Hall is a gorgeous ginger-bread of a house – the local stone from which its wings were built is called carrstone, or ginger-bread stone. The hall is part of a larger estate, which includes three cottages; Groom’s Cottage, Gardener’s Cottage and Ivy Cottage.

In total, the estate (also known as Mount Amelia) can accommodate up to 34 guests. The Hall itself has nine bedrooms, one of which is a family room with beds for four.

It can sleep up to 20 guests in 9 double rooms (four of which – including the family room – are en-suite, and three of which are four-posters). There are two further bathrooms and three loos on the ground floor.

One of the rooms – Bara’s Bedroom – has a sink and roll-top bath beneath the window, excellent for contemplating the gentle movement of the trees against the Norfolk sky. Downstairs, there’s a sitting room and drawing room, a games room (with table tennis and table football), and a reading room, for escape into scurrilous novels.

There’s a large dining room, which seats 20, and a good-sized kitchen, with a table for eight and an Aga, and a double electric oven, so cooking for a full house is as stress-free as possible (though you could always use the excellent caterers). Outside, there’s a terrace with seating, leading onto lawns and parkland, and plenty of space for hide-and-seek, or treasure hunts.

There is a large (six-person) hot tub available for guest use. Groom’s Cottage and Gardener’s Cottage are adjacent, and each sleep four guests.

Ivy Cottage can sleep 6, and has a bedroom on the ground floor. There’s a downstairs loo, but the bathroom is upstairs.

Location and Things to Do

The estate is in the edge of Ingoldisthorpe village, close to the Royal Sandringham estate.

It’s about 25 minutes’ drive from Kings Lynn.

Kings Lynn is a two-and-a-half hours’ train journey from central London.

The Ingoldisthorpe Estate itself offers about 30 acres of park land to explore, and there are footpaths and cycle routes.

There are some great beaches within easy reach – Snettisham is about 11 minutes’ away in the car.

There’s also Hunstanton (with its dunes one end, slot-machines and fair ground the other), and Brancaster, which is vast and sandy and is perfect for children who need to run wild and loud.

If you’d like to organise some distractions for your party, the house can help you arrange archery, fishing, shooting, golf, murder-mysteries. kayaking, cycling.

Some activities can be arranged on the estate, others will be elsewhere.

Weddings The Hall has capacity for 80 guests seated, and 100 standing.

Marquees are possible, should you have a larger guest list.

“This is a great house for a large party, with much to recommend it. I’m a particular fan of the South-West terrace, which delivers some of the very best of Norfolk’s spectacular sunsets.”

Absolutely incredible! Beautiful house serving as a fab base for the whole family to explore from. Everything you could want and more.

Went for a birthday celebration. Lovely place. If I had 3.4 million Stirling spare I’d buy it. As I don’t, I shall not.

We stayed here for a hen do of 18 girls which I organized. I cannot recommend Mount Amelia enough. The property is absolutely stunning – gorgeous interiors, decor and the most incredible views. There is so much space that we never felt cramped and everyone was able to gather but also have private downtime. The house is well equipped with everything for cooking, great speakers, all bath products and bath towels. They even supplied some locally sourced delicacies. The location is convenient – near train stations, supermarkets and nearby beaches. The icing on the cake was Sabrina the property manager. she was so responsive and helpful in the run up to our stay – extremely accommodating. She also catered our dinner (with Sarah, her co-chef) and did an incredible job. The food was delicious, they worked around dietary restrictions, and all the guests were raving about how wonderful it was. Sabrina made us a custom menu and was just so kind. Thank you for making our bride-to-be so very happy!

We recently stayed in the house for a hen party. It was a a really great weekend and the house is beautiful. Everyone in our 14 person group would definitely go back. Perfect house for a party and everything for the most part was immaculate. Lots of glassware, crockery, cutlery and an array of wooden boards and kitchen utensils. Lots of fridge and freezer space, ice trays and cooking space. Amazing Sonos speakers in all of the main rooms and you can hear and control the music from the hot tub and which is just honestly the best part!

There are a little few things that I want to flag but before I do I just would like to stress that this is a beautiful house and if you aren’t sure about staying, stay. You and your party will have a great time in an amazing backdrop.

The biggest thing for us was the number of lady bugs that were in most of the rooms particularly in the bathrooms. It was off putting at times. I am sure there is an easy fix for this and I would imagine that this is a new issue as we were not warned about this.

As the house does provide so much it would have been useful to have a house guide. Just to also flag, that we were enjoying the festivities and it absolutely could have been the case that we just didn’t spot it because we were too merry.

There are a lot of kettles in the house for each room and considering descaling my one kettle is an annoying hassle, some of them really did need a descale.

As I said, we all had a wonderful time and would come back.
