Efforts at Landed Houses continue to learn all about the world of shooting – and we’ve just discovered something really great!
Did you know that the shotgun world record for double-trap was held by a chap from Dorset? How brilliant!
His name is Peter Wilson, and he’s only 25, but tipped a hot favourite for London 2012. He was in Arizona, at the Shotgun World Cup when he broke the record with a staggering 198 clays, of 200.
To someone (like us in the LH office) who hits about 1 in 5 (and never any bunnies), that seems almost incredible.
According to the BBC, ‘Peter is coached by Sheikh Ahmed Al Maktoum, who himself won double trap gold at the Athens 2004 Olympics and is a member of Dubai’s ruling family.
“Peter is one of the favourites for the Olympics – he has the talent,” Al Maktoum told BBC Sport late last year.’
Golly. Well that’s another discipline we’re gutted not to have tickets for!
Landed Houses wishes you the best of luck, Peter Wilson; happy shooting, we admire you hugely.
