House Facts

The Old Nunnery was built in the 1860s by the Archbishop of Glasgow, Charles Eyre, as his seaside retreat, who then bequeathed it when he passed away to the Notre Dame order of nuns. They ran it as a convent and then a religious residential centre for over a century. It stands alongside the coach house, which we call the Wee Nunnery, also used as a self-catering spa venue.
