Smallfield Place is a big house, and sleeps 14 in 7 generous, en-suite bedrooms. The reception rooms are also large, and include a drawing room, dining room, two sitting rooms and kitchens. An extra six people (making a total of 20) can stay on sofa beds/z-beds for a small additional charge.

The house sits in six acres of gardens and meadows, and is famous for its water-garden, Tudor knot and herb gardens. There are several courtyards and terraces – perfect for al fresco dining, or a whisky to watch the dusk, plus lots of hidden benches for stolen moments of pleasure. The long, wide lawns are ideal for games of croquet and the lakes make beautiful backdrops for photographs.

Smallfield Place is suitable for large groups of family or friends, holidays, special celebrations or weddings. It is also ideal for business or corporate use, and offers excellent privacy, facilities and transport links. Two night stays are available.

Edmund’s Choice Of Extraordinary Feature

“Smallfield once had the date of 1661 inscribed on its door knocker, and the house has a palpable sense of history. No where more so than when one’s standing beside each of the mighty fireplaces; elbow crooked, sherry in hand.”

About The Location

Smallfield Place is just outside Smallfield village, nearly Horley in Surrey. It has great transport links with train stations nearby at Gatwick and Horley. It takes about thirty minutes to reach the center of London from either station.

Things To Do

There is lots to do in the area, Smallfield is within easy reach of London with all of its diversions (West End Shows, shopping, museums and restaurants), but equally there are plenty of rural pursuits – walking, horse riding, golf. The North Downs are five minutes away, and Brighton and the seaside under an hour. Or, should you not wish to move at all, you could take a picnic and rugs down to the meadow behind the gardens, and fall asleep amongst the buttercups.

Weddings

Smallfield Place excels at weddings, and offers a limited number of dates a year. The house can seat up to 60 guests inside and guests can also enjoy our beatutiful gardens. The house holds a wedding license. We work with five recommended caterers from which you can choose, and we also offer an advisor to help your day run exactly as you would wish it.

Reviews

  • Thank you so much to everyone at Smallfield Place. Kieran and I got married on August 1st this year. It was the most amazing day and Helen and staff were brilliant. The day was exactly as we wanted it. The house and grounds are so beautiful and really make the wedding feel enchanted. 100% recommendation from us both and all our family and friends.

  • If I could give Smallfield Place, Holly and the team 50 stars it wouldn't be enough. James and I were married here on 10th October and from start to finish the whole event was faultless - even the weather behaved so we were able to enjoy the beautiful grounds too. Smallfield Place is just a stunning house and to say you feel, and are made to feel, like Lord and Lady of the Manor is an understatement. And what to say about the team? Holly and John were so welcoming, Holly is ... the epitome of calm and professionalism and Camilla and her catering team produced wonderful food and service throughout our stay. Our day went without a hitch (apart from James and I getting hitched!) and we would highly recommend Smallfield to anyone looking for a small, exclusive, intimate wedding location. Thank you everyone involved.... certainly a day we'll never forget.

  • I grew up in "crullings" as we called it - lived there for 30yrs about! 9 of us kids running feral in this Manor House! For a long time I mourned the fact we no longer had it as a family home but I now look at photos of 'my' living room, mums bedroom, our lake and I think how lovely it is that so many people get to love and enjoy a place which fills all my childhood memories and thank you for keeping it loved

  • A year ago today we had our wedding reception at this stunning Manor House. Everything was just perfect. The weather was so wonderful we managed to have our tables outside next to the river. Thanks again for brilliant day!

  • Awesome place to get married. Completely relaxed, private use. The owners and the team are all lovely and couldn't be kinder. Constantly asking if there is anything we need etc but also allowing for private enjoyment of the beautiful house. We had the best of our lives here and highly recommend.

  • Simply awesome from start to finish.... We're already considering a 1st anniversary celebration here

  • Perfection! Cannot think of anything else to say. Lovely people, lovely venue, lovely atmosphere. Thank you for making the wedding so special.
