Huntsham Court is very large but surprisingly home-like and comfortable. It suits informal family parties, retreats, reunions with friends, family holidays, civil partnerships, weddings, special celebrations and parties of walkers or sports enthusiasts.

It sleeps up to 100 people, in 42 bedrooms (25 of which are en-suite). The bedrooms include two family suites and a ground-floor room for those wishing to avoid stairs. Each bedroom is uniquely decorated and perfectly appointed: some have four-poster beds, some silk-canopied beds, and most offer space for a cot or single bed for a young child.

Downstairs, the five grand reception rooms include the library with hours’-worth of books, a beautiful drawing room, dining room (complete with ancient tapestries), the Great Hall (perfect for dancing), and a gentlemen’s club-styled bar. Each room is bright and airy, with gorgeous views across the Devon countryside.

House Facts

The current house was built in 1868, for the eighteen-year-old bride of Charles Troyte, Katherine. Evidently Katherine's parents took one look at the earlier (and possibly a little shabby) Tudor manor, and requested something more grand be built for their daughter.  Which is exactly what they got - Victorian Gothic by Benjamin Ferrey, who was highly fashionable (and later one of the founder members of the British Institute of Architects).

Reviews

Just came back from attending the wedding of the decade at Huntsham Court. The house was like something out of a movie. Had an incredible stay at this Victorian manor house. The rooms hold so much character. Sharing some pics and videos of this amazing place.

We had pleasure to work at Huntsham Court few times( we are wedding photographers) and we absolutely love it. From guests and couples point of view- great to have huge space with so many rooms available exclusively for 3 days. We love weddings which are more than just one day, we like to stay ...

We don’t anonymise most of our properties so you can find them on the internet. But if you enquire, it’s better for you to do it via the contact form on their Landed Houses listing. If things go wrong (and it does happen), then we can check the details and help you.

Over 20,000 people a year send enquiries via Landed Houses and all of them get free support.

There’s no catch or cost, and you will still communicate directly with the house owner or their manager.
