DESCRIPTION

Chaffeymoor Grange is a beautiful stone manor house set in five acres of glorious Dorset countryside. The house dates from the 17th century, and retains beautiful original features such as stone mullioned windows, huge fireplaces and exposed beams.

The house is the ideal venue for house parties, weddings and joint family holidays. The house also offers a perfect country location for business meetings, training and team building events.

Chaffeymoor sleeps 20 people comfortably in 10 bedrooms in the main house. The reception rooms include a generous kitchen, drawing room, dining room and den. Should you feel the urge, there is a piano tuned and waiting in the hall.

A further four people can sleep in the newly built coach house, which comprises a large double bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and large living room with double sofa bed.

Outside is just as lovely, with 5 acres of gardens and terraces – ideal for a marquee. There is also a private lake, complete with little island and a dinky row-boat to bob around in and enjoy the sunshine. Should you wish for something a bit more energetic, there is also a football pitch, croquet lawn and tennis court.

Edmund’s Choice of Extraordinary Feature

Chaffeymoor really is very well appointed, but my favourite part of the house is the south-facing terrace, with its formal water-garden and the views over the valley. The most perfect spot for drinking very cold gin and tonics and admiring all that’s special about the English countryside.

About The Location

Chaffeymoor can be reached by mainline trains to both Gillingham and Castle Clary, both about ten minutes’ drive from the house. Should you wish to reach Chaffeymoor by car, the house is just off the A303.

Things To Do

There is lot to do in the surrounding area – Chaffeymoor sits on the Wiltshire, Dorset and Somerset borders, in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and there’s plenty to see in all three counties. Clay shooting, archery and treasure hunts can be done locally, and there are any number of walks. Wincanton Racecourse is 5 minutes from the house, and hospitality days can be arranged during the jump season.

Country Sport

Driven Shooting: The traditional country house shooting party is a speciality of Chaffeymoor, and excellent shooting on several estates can be arranged. Full catering and overnight accommodation is included and guns can be stored securely on-site.

Golf: An 18-hole golf course in the village. Pay and play available.

Archery (http://birdshilldays.com/archery/) and CO2 pistol shooting (http://birdshilldays.com/pistol-shooting/) are available on-site.

Weddings

Chaffeymoor is a great choice for a smart country wedding. The house is licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 80 guests (there are plenty of local B&B’s in which your guests can stay). There are two rooms in which the ceremony can take place – the drawing room (seating up to 80), or the dining room (seating up to 40). A marquee can be used for a seated wedding breakfast for 80, or the house can cope with 60 guests dining in a more informal manner (without the need for a marquee).

Fell in love with Chaffeymoor Grange from the minute we found it online. Booked a viewing straight away and it was literally perfect. Had other venues to look at but our hearts were set on CG so we went with out hearts and booked it for our wedding of 44 people. So if you are thinking about it just go ahead you will not regret it. Chaffeymoor Grange had everything we wanted and more, beautiful Oak room for our ceremony, wedding breakfast and disco! All the other rooms downstairs work so well and gave us plenty of space and options. Outdoor space is also beautiful and ample. 20 of us loved staying at CG and all our family and friends keep saying we need an excuse to book it again so we can all go back! It has been an absolute dream dealing with the owners Lindsay and Rik. They are very lovely and helpful people and made sure everything went as planned for our wedding weekend. We also got recommendations for suppliers and we used a lot of them who were also brilliant! Lindsay and Rik thank you for making our wedding so special. We hope to return to enjoy the wonderful Chaffeymoor Grange at some point in the future. All the best!

I can not tell you how much fun we had staying at this magical property. It is really nicely done out but without feeling pretentious, so you can totally relax. We rowed the boat in pond, played hide in seek in the large gardens, went for long walks and pub lunches, a truly amazing weekend with our friends, we are already looking at booking again

I spent a lovely weekend at Chaffeymoor Grange with my friends for my 40th Birthday. Its a beautiful property set in stunning grounds and we were blessed with amazing weather so we made good use of the extensive outdoor spaces. Lindsay and RIk were very accommodating and helpful and our stay went without a hitch. I would recommend the property if you have groups of adults or families (we had 12 children in our group!).

If you are looking for a perfect wedding venue, then you should consider yourselves very lucky because you just found it! When we started to plan our wedding we had an idea of type of place we wanted, after research we had ~14 places to consider, this was second place and we immediately fell in love with it and stopped our search! :-) This venue has very nice feel, there is a lot of history though at the same time the design of the place allow you to design day in the style which is perfect for you. It's very spacious and gets a lot of light (our photographer was very inspired!). We had a very small family and friends wedding weekend for 25 people and this was perfect place which everyone fall in love with. And of course a lot of it thanks to the greatest hosts, from first minute we met Lindsay and Rick we liked them a lot and felt very comfortable to discuss all our questions, ideas, concerns, get advice. They are extremely helpful and always there when you need them. We wish we could come back one day for another friends/family weekend. Garrie & Yulia

Lovely house in beautiful garden setting. Lindsay was an extremely welcoming host and fed us exceptionally well. The reception rooms are elegantly proportioned, yet the house still retains a homely welcoming feel. Absolutely ideal for a weekend away with close friends and family. Thank you so much. A great weekend had by all of the family (20 in total), plenty of space to retreat for quiet moments, great accommodation, gardens, facilities, personally we don't think we could have found a better place to stay, going back next year for another weekend of superb comfort and fun.

We choose chaffeymoor grange for our wedding venue and the only fault I had was I didn't book our stay for longer 2 nights just is not long enough. The venue itself is beyond words everything I wished it to be! Our families travelled from around the country and it happily housed us all. We had the addition of the coach house which I will highly recommend to anyone getting married here as it's just that little bit out of the way! The kitchen was fully stocked with what we needed and we were able to book a food delivery shop in which arrived just before I did. Over all you can not go wrong with booking here for any of your events!

Wow! What a fabulous place!! Lindsay and Rik really have created the most idyllic venue for a celebration. Every consideration is catered for, from the well-equipped kitchen to the luxurious bedrooms. It is spotlessly clean and beautifully maintained. We celebrated my 50th birthday here and could not fault it. From the long sweeping drive right up to the extraordinarily beautiful manor house from start to finish this was perfect. The layout of the house gives itself to a celebration and the beautiful gardens, lake and ornamental pond, all so beautifully maintained, lend a tranquillity to this extraordinary place. We could not fault Chaffeymoor Grange.

We were lucky enough to celebrate our wedding at chaffeymoor in June! From the moment we saw the venue we fell in love with it - but nothing prepared us to just how amazing it looked on the day. And on top of that Rik and Lindsay made sure everything ran like clockwork for the weekend. Perfect place - we felt like royalty for the weekend and we are definitely going back for our anniversary in the future!

Chaffeymoor is an amazing venue! We celebrated our wedding there on May 14th, 2016 with all our friends and family and it was absolutely perfect. As a bride on our wedding day and as a guest on the other days, I didn't notice any of the hard work that the staff put into moving and rearranging the funiture for us. It felt like having the lovely house to ourselves with the addition of some invisible little helpers. Thank you, Lindsay, for being great on and before the day and for helping me organise and figure everything out along the way! All the best for your future. Isabelle

My family and friends have just returned from a wonderful weekend celebrating my 50th birthday at Chaffeymoor Grange. The venue is outstanding! Ten beautifully appointed bedrooms were a delight to sleep in and the reception rooms were warm, welcoming, comfortable and provided enough space for the 22 of us. A perfect venue for the 1930's style Murder Mystery that we held on the Friday night. Lindsay kindly took my shopping delivery in and put everything away as we were running late. The caterer's Victoria Blandford-Snell provided a splendid meal on the Saturday evening, and the kitchens were well enough stocked for us to cater the rest of the weekend ourselves. I had great difficulty getting the party to leave on Sunday. The teenage lads spent plenty of time in the pool room and we could all sit together in the oak room for an impromptu game of Articulate on Saturday afternoon and the sound system was great for our dancing on Saturday night. Highly recommend everything about this place and the lovely owners Lindsay and Rik who made everything run so smoothly. Top marks!

Chaffeymore Grange is the most perfect venue. Everything about the house and its grounds are beautifully maintained and it is the perfect location for a special occasion. The owners are extremely helpful and I couldn't recommend Chaffeymore Grange highly enough! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

Review: Chaffeymoor Grange is two and a half hours' drive from London and just off the A303. It is grand and imposing on the outside yet warm and light on the inside. All rooms were completely redecorated when the current owners bought the house and it really shows - modern and airy yet with the old features accentuated, particularly the south-facing windows. The kitchen, breakfast room and dining room are up-to-date, in excellent condition and designed to cater for all guests. The drawing room is surrounded by splendid wood panelling and tastefully furnished with hide-away LCD television. There is also a sound system with ceiling speakers across the house. All ten double bedrooms are spacious and - here's where the owners have invested a huge amount - all bar two have their own bathroom. Only the remaining bathroom is shared and to only have the one shared is most impressive. They are also of a decent size - bathrooms rather than bathcupboards! Chaffeymoor Grange floorplans. Outside three fountains separate the house from its stepped lawns, garden and pond. Around the back there is also table tennis, a tennis court and football/games pitch. The owners live on-site but are sufficiently well separated that visitors can enjoy themselves in privacy without interruption. The A303 can sometimes be heard in the background but it is nothing that a bit of family noise wouldn't fix. All in all old adage that you get what you pay for is true - the house is not cheap but is extremely well presented. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and feel that Chaffeymoor Grange can command a premium for its high numbers of bathrooms, tasteful decoration and large sitting and dining rooms.
