Edmund’s Choice of Extraordinary Feature
“Buckland is one of my favourites of our houses, and the one at which I’ve spent the most time. It really is a generous house, light-filled and seemingly perfect for a party, no matter what the time of year. It’s most stand-out attribute is its atmosphere and sense of timelessness. Some sun-lit summer evenings, it could easily be any time this century, or the last.”
About the Location
Buckland is in North Devon, just inland and between the seaside towns of Bideford and Bude. The house is about twenty-five minutes’ drive from the A 39.
Things To Do
Should you ever wish to leave the estate, there is plenty to do in the area. The house is between the North and South Devon coasts, and is a great base from which to explore Devon and Cornwall.
Buckland allows a maximum of 120 guests at a wedding, and has a list of local B&B’s for guests that cannot fit in the house. There is also an allowance for seven tents, for guests wishing to camp, and two yurts (crafted on the estate) for campers who might need a proper bed.
Buckland also has its own very special ‘boat marquee’, crafted from wood sourced on the estate, available for a small charge.
