Our large manor houses are available for exclusive use hire and are within two and half hours’ drive of London. How utterly perfect to be able to escape London on a Friday evening, and arrive at a house for a late supper and hot bath.
There’s something so thrilling about driving up a long drive, seeing a beautiful manor house lit up before you. Heaven – manor houses always have plenty of space for parking!
Then the deliciousness of unpacking a little case and hanging evening clothes, ready for whatever treat is planned on the Saturday night. What might it be? A grand dinner with silver candelabra and the very best caterers and waiting staff? A Murder-Mystery, with everyone dressed up (and at least one guest in a false moustache)? Or perhaps something more laid back, like a BBQ on the terrace, with a gramophone (oh, okay, someone’s Spotify list) playing beneath a starry sky.
Sunday mornings are rather special in a big country house – those long, lazy lie-ins, then a sinful cooked breakfast that you must walk off before lunch. The handy thing about rural retreats (even in a stately home), is there’s usually good pub-grub to be found in a nearby village. Perfect for a little more indulgence, before you wind your way back to the M25.
Whatever you’re planning, we have some beautiful big houses in the South East, from Oxfordshire, to Sussex to Bedfordshire, all ideal for a family party, or a catch-up with a group of friends. Our properties are all within easy reach of major motorways (M40, M25, M3, M4, M11), and transport can be arranged from the nearest railway station.
Our houses are all privately-owned and run by excellent teams, who can help you arrange your weekend to be exactly as brilliant as you’d imagined it.
A Word From Edmund
It’s great to leave work on a Friday and be in the countryside by the evening, relaxing with friends. Most houses can help organise catering or we can arrange for piping hot food to be served once you have welcomed your guests with a glass of Champagne, or (a great choice) Cotswold Gin and Fever Tree tonic!
