The counties surrounding London are incredibly diverse, with bustling cities, towns and villages set within the English countryside. In our collection, the South East comprises of Oxfordshire to the North, Norfolk to the East, Hampshire to the West and of course Kent to the far south east. We’ve also included big houses in Sussex, London (well, we need at least one in the Capital!), Suffolk and Surrey. Oh, and Bedfordshire.

And where could be more English than Hampshire, and the beautiful Hill Place, set on the edge of the South Downs National Park. Hill Place is a Georgian manor available for private hire for a family holiday, or weekend breaks with friends. It’s also suitable for weddings or special celebrations, and has a spectacular roof terrace, on which to sit and sip Champagne.

But perhaps you were looking for somewhere larger, a little more formal? Oxon Hoath in Kent sleeps up to 50, in surroundings built by no less than eleven succeeding Knights of the Realm. It even has a dance studio, and exactly 73 acres of parkland, where you might meet the odd sheep.

If privacy is a priority for you, then hiring a country house on a private estate makes perfect sense. In fact, you can hire an entire country estate, should you wish, with Pekes Manor, in East Sussex. The Estate offers various barns and cottages and gatehouses, as well as the use of an indoor pool.

The coast-line of the South East is one of Britain’s finest, with some of the very best nature reserves and wild spaces on the East coast. There are some great sea-side towns, too, between the lights of Brighton and crabs of Cromer.

A Word From Edmund

You may have noticed we have rather a few Georgian manor houses in our collection, and the South East has some excellent examples. They have such pleasing proportions and are set so beautifully in their landscapes. Who wouldn’t want to stay in somewhere like Hill Place or Langley Grange, and wake up to such a house?
