Chaffeymoor Grange Review
Chaffeymoor Grange, Bourton, Gillingham, Dorset SP8 5BY
Review: Chaffeymoor Grange is two and a half hours' drive from London and just off the A303. It is grand and imposing on the outside yet warm and light on the inside. All rooms were completely redecorated when the current owners bought the house and it really shows - modern and airy yet with the old features accentuated, particularly the south-facing windows. The kitchen, breakfast room and dining room are up-to-date, in excellent condition and designed to cater for all guests. The drawing room is surrounded by splendid wood panelling and tastefully furnished with hide-away LCD television. There is also a sound system with ceiling speakers across the house. All ten double bedrooms are spacious and - here's where the owners have invested a huge amount - all bar two have their own bathroom. Only the remaining bathroom is shared and to only have the one shared is most impressive. They are also of a decent size - bathrooms rather than bathcupboards! Chaffeymoor Grange floorplans.
Outside three fountains separate the house from its stepped lawns, garden and pond. Around the back there is also table tennis, a tennis court and football/games pitch. The owners live on-site but are sufficiently well separated that visitors can enjoy themselves in privacy without interruption. The A303 can sometimes be heard in the background but it is nothing that a bit of family noise wouldn't fix. All in all old adage that you get what you pay for is true - the house is not cheap but is extremely well presented. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and feel that Chaffeymoor Grange can command a premium for its high numbers of bathrooms, tasteful decoration and large sitting and dining rooms.
