A split-level riverside stone chapel, with river views, created by the conversion of a large Methodist Chapel and Schoolroom, built in 1846 in the conservation area of the historic mill village of Milford, in the wooded valley of the River Derwent. The local area is of great interest to enthusiasts of our industrial heritage with lots of walking close at hand. The Ebenezer Chapel is one of those rare character properties that can accommodate the really large family party (up to 22 guests!) with ease: there's a 38ft beamed and galleried lounge, a Finnish sauna-suite, fully-equipped kitchen, 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and some en suite facilities - and an upper extra lounge that children will love, overlooking the River Derwent. The fine stone chapel has been skilfully converted into a most characterful holiday home, offering good quality accommodation retaining much of the original character and charm, with exposed beams, some original pews, marble plaques, chapel doors, and with the old pulpit in the balconied lower lounge! There is a small raised lawned garden with ramp access, with picnic table, chairs and barbecue, and a further two acres of steep woodland for the use of nimble guests, full of bluebells in Spring, which offers picnic spots, paths and wildwood areas. The two stair-lifts and other helpful little touches make the two lower floors of the Chapel suited to accompanied disabled or less mobile guests. Gas central heating, cast-iron woodstove in main lounge, all gas heating included in rent, logs included 1st November to Easter. Sports available in the area include tennis, fishing and bowls, three good riding stables, several local golf courses, fishing and canoeing in the Derwent, and Belper’s family Sports Centre just two miles away. Climbing, caving, gliding & watersports all under 20 mile The area is noted for its Real Ale and there are four great pubs within half a mile.
